Just barely hits a four but enough positives to warrant a four. We've been a few times now. Positives are very friendly and efficient staff, some food items are very well done, and easy location for us. Some favorite food items have been the pancakes, their biscuit and gravy, and they do solid grits. The coffee is well made. Biggest issue for us is just the price point for what you get. Breakfast for two ends up being close to $50 (each getting an entree and coffee, sometimes a side pancake or juice). Obviously the price of food has gone up but just still seems steep for the environment and quality relative to other local options. read more

What a great, fresh new restaurant! I love the decor and colors. Very bright and refreshing inside. They also have an out door seating dares, and a couple corn hole games for you to play while you wait. Thankfully I didn't have to wait, which was a surprise considering there is reduced seating due to Covid. Everyone was friendly, and the food was great. I like that they have an option for you to pay contactless. You just scan the bar code on the receipt, and it takes you to a page to pay online with your phone. I had the corned beef hash Benedict. They were delicious. The corned beef hash has great flavor. The eggs were nice and runny, and the home fries had a ton of flavor and some nice crunchy pieces. We've been here for breakfast a number of times, and I have to say they may have the best coffee in Charleston. We generally eat outside because it's pet-friendly. The service is a little slower outside, but it's generally not a big deal because we're enjoying the outdoors and our pup. The corned beef hash is fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it despite its prominence on the menu in several places. I generally opt for a bowl or an omelette, as I find these to be consistently good. West Ashley needs a few more good breakfast spots, but this is one of the better ones that exist now. read more

Waste of time that I'll never get back! I should have followed my previous review. At 6:25am, I walked up to the counter to make a take out order. There was one waitress, and 5 customers. They probably need 3 waitstaff to handle business, then I overheard that checkout equipment and printers weren't working. One customer was able to check out, but another was standing around for 10 - 15 minutes trying to pay, while I was waiting ... for a menu. After, I went to pick up a menu, the waitress returned with a new handheld device to take my order .... twice, to correct some entries. I asked for a Sparkling Lemonade while I waited for my order. She started the Lemonade, then went over to wait on another customer... while the checking out customer continued to wait. I don't know if she turned in my order, but I didn't get the Sparkling Lemonade, the checking out customer was still waiting, so after 30 min., I cancelled my order and left. Great local place with good breakfasts at reasonable prices. As former New Jersey residents, we miss the great diners, especially at breakfast time when you want a large helping of good hot food and a great cup of coffee. This place comes close. Excellent omelets and some interesting bowls with the usual potatoes, grits, eggs, etc. My granddaughters love the place - nice kids meal where they can pick three items - the 9 year old loves the half waffle, one egg cheese omelet, and home fries. We are from the Augusta, Ga area. Our wedding rehearsal had to be scheduled early in the day due to our venue having a wedding booked that evening. So instead of doing a rehearsal dinner, I decided on a rehearsal brunch. I started my research and called around to a few places. Mr. Arnold was one of the first to return my phone call. From the very first time we spoke, he gave nothing but good service. I fell in love with their outdoor seating area. With being unsure of the covid wave, we were shooting for outdoors. Days leading up to the date, Mr. Arnold suggested that we change it to indoors because winds had been high. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious. We sat down to dine on the very first day we arrived to Charleston, before the staff even knew that we were the bride/groom of the big party that they would be hosting the next day. Great customer service even then. We visit Charleston often. My husband's favorite food is breakfast food, so I know that Eggs Up Grill is now one of "Our Spots". After starting with coffee and tea (both of which were good), my bride went with the fried biscuits and gravy, with a side of bacon, while I had the breakfast burrito. My table ordered a kids pancake meal with bacon and sausage, shrimp and grits bowl, and the Texas farmhouse omelette. My kiddo loved that he could get two meats with his meal as he's a huge meat eater. I absolutely loved my omelette. Everything was seasoned individually for a well seasoned dish. The andouille sausage really added a kick of heat that I enjoyed. My hubby enjoyed his shrimp and grits however I gave my grits to him. I added cheese but they didn't add enough. My wife and I were visiting Charleston and were on our way to one of the plantations when we stopped here for breakfast. In our week in Charleston, this place served the best breakfast by far. Not even close. The chefs here actually know how to make eggs. Basted, omelets, over easy, whatever you want, they know how to fix them. Biscuit sandwich is top notch as well. Great service and this place makes you feel like family. We found this place on day 5 of our 7 day vacation and made sure to drive the 10 miles to visit a second time. I really wanted to like Eggs Up Grill as it's close to my apartment but I had to stop going because every time I ordered eggs there they were undercooked and if you order over easy the whites are runny. After the second time this happened I just felt there were better breakfast places in Charleston even if they were farther away. I do believe they do pancakes pretty well, as my mom was happy with her pancakes with Praline Pecans when she came to visit, I am just not much of a sweet breakfast person. The first two times we visited the staff was friendly, food was good. This time was extremely disappointing. It was not busy, some empty table s. We sat at the counter. Waited several minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, even though one of the girls at the expo window was playing a game on her phone and others were happily chatting with other guests at the counter. When we finally ordered we were told there were no clean mimosa glasses so we would have to wait. 20 minutes later we cancelled and left. Saturday morning was a great lazy morning to order Eggs Up for breakfast / brunch. Without dragging the entire family out, I was able to order on their website through the Toast app. I went to pick up the order, mask on, and only had to wait a couple of minutes before it was brought out to me. I'm pleased to report that Eggs Up staff are practicing safe and healthy habits to keep everyone free of COVID19. Masks, gloves, wiping down tables with disinfectant, blocking off every other table, outside dining, etc. Thank you. As for the food, I had the shrimp & grits plate with the omelet. My kids each ordered the classic breakfast, and my wife got the sausage and hash brown bowl (which sadly didn't come with an egg on top). The food was just as good as I remember, and was even better because we got to eat it safely at home. I have loved Eggs Up food since first visiting in Surfside, SC years ago, and can't wait to go back again and again. read more

I love Eggs Up and am so happy to have it in our neighborhood now! I wish it was open longer like until 6 or 7 for the early dinner diners in the area (and I am known to be one). I love that they have a decently sized outdoor dining area that they share with Agaves Cantina next door. As far as following the CDC and State/County/City Covid protocol, these guys are on top of it all. They have plenty of indoor booth and table space along with an adorable dining bar area. They're doing great with practicing social distancing by separating tables. Not sure what the rules are, but they all wore gloves and I didn't see anyone changing them so what's the point of that. Not wearing gloves and washing hands more frequently makes more sense. However, the staff were all super kind and the restaurant is very tidy and cutely decorated. They were busy and the food took a while to come out. The food is nothing special really... I got an omelet that I could've made better at home. The cappuccinos are insanely sweet and fake tasting (from machine) so I don't recommend spending money on it. It's a cute restaurant but there's nothing extraordinary or special about it. read more

Went there around 930 am this morning to have breakfast. I was met at the door by 2 ladies who apparently screen the customers for seating. The place wasn't busy. I asked for a table. I was told single customers have to sit at the counter. There were many vacant tables. I asked if I could sit at a table and pointed one of the many open tables. The counter had only one seat left and I didn't want to be wedged in between 2 other customers when there were several tables available. So the girls that screen the customers said no so I left. This is the first time I was not allowed to sit at a table before in that restaurant . No explanation...just a no. Too many places to eat breakfast in Charleston to take this nonsense. read more
