Order was taken after 13 minutes. Received scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and home fries a full 25 minutes after sitting. Yup, 25 minutes to get toast and eggs. Bacon had been held way too long. Home fries were ok, could have been crispier. Eggs were fine. Toast was dry and cold. Slow, not so great service, food average at best. Don't see any reason to go back after this first impression. read more

Eggs Up is your genuine mom and pop diner out in the middle of nowhere. What's awesome about this place is their rather extensive gluten free menu (the owner has Celiac), featuring pancakes, french toast and more. I can't speak to the rest of the food because I had the gf french toast, but I thought it was tasty, albeit dry. I took fault with a couple of things, one was the orange juice, it wasn't fresh squeezed or even tropicana. The "gluten free" maple syrup was more high fructose corn syrup than actual maple. This place is obviously a mainstay for the locals and the older crowd, but it is worth stopping in if you're passing through town, especially for the gluten free eaters out there. read more

Eggs Up is a good place for a quick breakfast. I've eaten here 2, maybe 3 times. My food has always been good, my friend had GREAT banana pancakes. I've also had their french toast w. fruit that I liked, but last visit I had an omlet that was kind of meh. Had breakfast here, my first visit, it will probably be my last. The reason being the service. It stunk. The food was okay, nothing special, but not bad by any means. Prices were fair as well. That's the only reason I gave 2 stars. Our party of two was seated, and then a single diner was seated at a table next to us, and then a party of four on the other side of us. We were the last of the three tables to have a waitress come and take our order. Not only were we last get to get our food, the single diner received his food, ate, paid his tab and left! The party of four got their meals and had finished eating but not yet departed. THEN we got our breakfast. We probably waited 30 minutes to get our food, and it wasn't anything amazing to make up for the wait. There was no apology for the delay, even though our displeasure was pretty evident. There are several other places in the area making much better food, without the shoddy service, so I won't be darkening the doorway here any time soon. read more

We went recently for breakfast and were very surprised to see a menu they just left on the table for multiple guests. They had a bowl of salt and sugar out so anyone before us could have touched it. Eggs Up Grill is a great little breakfast place - it reminds me very much of a place you'd see on the actual Route 66. It doesn't put on any airs and is very much a local dive. The food is cheap and delicious. They are rather well-known within the celiac community since they have an extensive gluten-free menu - one that I trust completely since the owner has celiac disease. The environment is a little cramped and you can spend a while waiting for a table but those are the only downsides. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was about two years old with my grandmother and mom, they have amazing quality breakfast food. My Mom, who is Gluten-Intolerant wanted to eat here since there are few Breakfast places in NJ (where she and my Dad are living). We got there about 10am on a Saturday and it was packed, which was a nice thing to see, although it was a little cramped. We didn't have to wait very long for a table and had coffee immediately poured in their adorable mugs. As for the food: their pancakes were thin, which my Dad likes, but I prefer thicker, but they were delicious. My Mom loved her GF pancakes and couldn't stop talking about them. When we left around 11am, it was packed again. Their prices were really reasonable, especially for the GF food. The owner is also Gluten-Intolerant and I can appreciate her love of food and keeping the cost of GF products down. Definitely will come back (probably when my parents visit again). read more

The food is decent, but beware if you go here! They frequently close early! We have been locked out or turned away more than 30 minutes before the advertised closing time on several occasions. Earlier today when we tried to visit, they had a huge open flag waiving in front and were supposed to be open until 1pm. When we approached the door it was locked and a small closed sign had been turned from the inside. It was 12:25pm, there were other customers inside. We stayed in the parking lot for a few minutes and within 10 minutes there were 4 other customers who attempted to dine only to face the same dilemma! We normally wouldn't give a bad review, but we have dealt with this exact issue with this establishment several times before. It is bad business practice not to stay open during business hours that you have established and advertised. I'm curious if the owners are aware this is happening? read more

They turned their grill off at 12:45pm and all the begging and pleading in the world would not make them turn it back on. When we had a few questions about the ingredients of certain dishes due to food allergies they checked to make sure that what we wanted to order did not have the ingredients that we could not eat. My son had a version of pancakes that is not normally on the menu but they altered the menu to make the best banana chocolate chip pancakes that he has ever had! My family and I come here all the time. The weekend specials are one of a kind. Between the homemade corned beef hash and the assortment of french toast, omelets and pancakes I sometimes have a hard time making up my mind. I like being able to sit where I want, whether it's at the counter or at one of the tables, I know the service will always be great. My husband and I walked out of this diner after we arrived. It was relatively busy and we seated ourselves at a small table after asking one of the wait staff if it was alright. A couple was just leaving the table. The table was yet to be cleaned and we waited. Another group that came in before us had their table cleaned right away and were helped.
