I love eating breakfast any time of day! We started with the Fried Calamari, which my boyfriend really enjoyed. I ordered the Eggsuberant meal, which came with fluffy pancakes topped with salted maple caramel sauce and fresh strawberries . It also included two scrambled eggs with cheese , applewood-smoked bacon , and Lyonnaise-style potatoes . Everything tasted good, though I do wish the eggs had been more thoroughly scrambled with the cheese. He ordered the Fried Chicken & Waffles and added the salted maple caramel sauce and fresh strawberries as well. The chicken could have been seasoned a bit more, but overall the meal was enjoyable. The service was okay, and the atmosphere was a little busy. There was a short wait before we were seated.
Sometimes can have a long wait on the weekends but we went this (Saturday) morning and was seated right away around 8:15am! I didn't take a photo of it but their garlic bread is literally the best. Would come in just for that alone lol but decided to try something sweet for breakfast this time instead of savory and the s'mores French toast was so good but had to take half home just because of how sweet and chocolatey it was
I had a taste for breakfast so decided to give this spot a try. I'm glad I did. If you're looking for omelettes you should give them a try. This spot isn't crowded, seated quickly and it's nice and roomy. Now for the food. There's so many choices that you will need to come back at least a second round. You can't come and now try the omelette. The Eggspectation and the shrimp and crab Omelettes hands down some of best omelettes I've had. Flavor through and through, the right amount of everything. The Breakfast Tacoskick and a punch in the mouth, you'll want more than three. Adding the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes to any meal... why not. The cakes are fluffy, with the cream cheese drizzle to finish. Chefs kiss. Shout out to our waiter Kollin I will definitely be back
We had a great early dinner at Eggspectation last night as a family of four. We've visited many times for breakfast and lunch, but this was our first time coming for dinner--and it did not disappoint. We arrived during happy hour, which was a nice bonus. My husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine while we waited for our food. I ordered the mussels with marinara sauce, which came with fries. My husband went with the wings and a salad and was very happy with his choice. Our kids ordered a pizza and chicken tenders with fries, and both meals were big hits. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food, and the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly. Our waitress was especially accommodating, which we appreciated while dining out with kids. It was nice to experience Eggspectation in a different way than our usual, and we'll definitely be back for dinner again.
What a great experience. I've been trying to get to eggspectation for quite sometime and finally had the shot. My wife and I went on a Monday before Veterans Day and this place was surprisingly packed. There were about 10 people waiting so I immediately knew I had to be at the right spot. We waited about 10 minutes and were seated. This place was lively. Great place for brunch. Our waitress was friendly and made a few suggestions. My wife and I ordered the following: Lemon Ricotta & Blueberry Pancakes Eggstravaganza Cajun Shrimp & Grits Western Omelette Flight of Mimosa's The Mimosa flight came out first. The flavors were Strawberry, Peach, Orange and Margarita. My wife enjoyed two of the four, peach and strawberry. Our food came out and took up the entire table. I ate the Cajun Shrimp and Grits along with the extravaganza. The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUS!!! Seasoned well, nice size shrimp, good sausage, and creamy grits. They could have gone a little lighter on the onions as I picked a few out due to the size but still delicious nonetheless. The extravaganza came with two slices of French toast, eggs, bacon and potatoes. The bacon seemed a little tasteless but the French toast was delicious. The eggs were fine and the potatoes were good as well. Overall I really enjoyed my two meals. My wife ordered the western omelette and the lemon ricotta and blueberry pancakes. The western omelette came with potatoes and salad. The omelette good however she really loved the pancakes. Between the mimosas and the pancakes she had no room for anything else. Overall we had a great experience and we will definitely return. Great service, good food and an enjoyable experience.
I dined here for the first time with a friend. It's a nice, comfortable environment with friendly and professional staff. We started with the salted caramel beignets. Delicious. I ordered the eggstravaganza and my friend got the chicken and waffle. The waffle was good, but the chicken was dry with little flavor. I liked everything with my meal, except the French toast. The ham was really good. I would return.
Food was okay. Service nice but a little slow. Waited a while to order and for refills. Not too crowded. Server was nice. The problem is really that they charge you a lot for small things. Salad. Add chicken? 8 dollars. An extra pancake? 6 dollars. A side of bacon? 6 dollars. They nickel and dime you for a simple meal. So although we enjoyed it and had a good experience it was very overpriced for what it was.
I've been to this location a few times before and I've always had a pleasant experience! I went with a friend and we were seated very quickly, and the service was great; the staff members are very attentive! The food was delicious! Including the Mimosa Flight, biscuits as an appetizer, and the Lamb Chops and eggs for my entree. The lambs chops were seasoned very well and the potatoes were cooked just right. I didn't have room for dessert so I guess I will have to come back again soon!
Food was amazing! I had the Cajun shrimp and grits and it was the best shrimp and grits I've ever had! Restaurant was very clean, updated, and service was great! Food arrived fast, hot and fresh. There was a wait time the day I went (on a Saturday). Wait was quoted at 30 minutes, but we only waited 20 minutes. Superb!
Dear Waffle, and eggs, don't be jealous it's true, I will have an appetite for all of you. Golden and crispy a sweet savory dream. Who's the best power couple in this whole thing? Us, NO! Chicken and waffle was the one who shined! I moaned, groaned, ooooh'd and ah'd. This waffle was the BEST! O - M - G!!!!! The better half and I have several trips planned and through BWI so I'm going to suggest this place be our "on the way" to the airport stop. I need this in my life, I mean good food = good mood! Making a BWI run had us in the Gambrills area, so how could we resist one of if not the best breakfast spot in the DMV!! Since I first visited the location in Silver Spring many moons ago, I've been a huge fan! The food is consistently OUTSTANDING! The interior is similar to First Watch.. Kinda country and no frills. This time out I had the crab and shrimp Benedict over cheesy grits and she had Chicken and Waffles. I've never had a Benedict like this, no English Muffin, hey, who needed the carbs anyway.. I absolutely loved it. She couldn't stop talking about how good her waffle was and after tasting it she was right! We chose not to wait and was lucky enough to snag a couple seats at the bar so that we could dive right in. Our bartender did an excellent job serving us and making drinks for the entire restaurant..I hate it when I don't remember names to give the appropriate shout out... I'll do better! :) If breakfast food is your thing, try out the restaurant that has "egg" in its name.. Just note, they have an awesome dinner menu too that I'm dying to try!!
I've been to Eggspectation in Gambrills a few times now, and every visit has been solid! The service is always friendly and attentive, and the food is consistently great. The ambiance is bright, upbeat, and perfect for a weekend brunch or casual catch-up with friends. This was my first time trying Vincent's Iced Espresso, so good! As for the food... I only remembered to take a pic more than halfway through eating because it was that good. I'll try to get a full plate photo next time before I devour it Definitely one of my go-to brunch spots in the area. Highly recommend!
Randomly came here with a friend and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated immediately. I ordered the French toast and French fries and it was pretty good. My friend ordered the wings and a shrimp sandwich, but the waiter couldn't really provide us with helpful information about the menu. I think she was only familiar with some items. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. Overall it was decent and a pretty good breakfast spot if you want a quick bite! They used to have a location in Silver Spring, but that closed a while ago! I wasn't disappointed with my meal and if I'm in the area I would absolutely return!

Unlucky batch . The modern brunch aesthetic provides a trendy atmosphere for a girls day out for a hearty breakfast. No military discounts given. Expect a long wait times around 1045-11:30am on weekends. . Only set back - our friend found hair strands in her food...so had to give a 3 rating. Otherwise, good food & service. We've missed Eggspectations since they closed their Columbia location. We were in Gambrills today and thought we'd try this location. The decor is nice and it's much smaller than Columbia. Yes I know they're not the same but it's the comparison I have access to. It was vey crowded so we were able to sit at the bar. Which is fine because it was a good experience. Liam was our server and very friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to order quickly and the food. The menu isn't as extensive as Columbia. Overall a good experience. My wife missed have the Benedict's and was very happy to get one again. She loved it and the Lyonnaise potatoes were a great capper. My sandwich was just okay. It could have used more aioli. The staff were friendly and location clean and accessible. We did learn about the new locations coming soon in closing Columbia and Burtonsville. We'll definitely return soon. read more

This is our 4th visit to Eggspectation... and our worst. We love coming for breakfast and brunch so decided to finally come check out their dinner menu. I don't know if our server was new but she was very slow. I had to ask for water multiple times. I ordered the lamb chops and my partner ordered the Cuban. The Cuban was.. def not traditional. It didn't taste bad but it was basically a ham and Swiss on a croissant. My lamb was cooked to the temp but there was no crust and the cut of meat was very chewy. Also - the side was listed as roasted red beets with corn. And it was all corn. What beets there were had been cut to pieces smaller than the corn. Overall a disappointing experience. But we will keep coming for brunch which has always been 5-star read more

Breakfast at Eggspectation is now a staple in my brunch rotation! I was seated in a booth seat in the bar area. The bartender greeted us with menus. There were lots of great menu options. I ordered the shrimp and grits with scrambled eggs. The way this is served is different from other restaurants. I liked the addition of eggs. The cheese grits are covered in a flavorful sauce. I would have liked to have more grits and less of the sauce. The shrimp were generous in size and well seasoned. I also could not decide on a mimosa so I ordered the mimosa flight. It did not disappoint. The 4 flight flavors include a traditional mimosa, strawberry, peach, and Grand Marnier. I enjoyed everything and plan to return soon. read more

The menu looks to have been updated and possibly simplified a bit since we last visited. That's a good thing though, less complex and confusing, less spread out. But while the food is still good, the service has suffered. Front of the house was great, but the table/bar service was absent and slow. The breakfast poutine was delicious, so that's a great dish to try. But it's heavy, so order accordingly. It's also 19 bucks. O.O The fresh squeeze orange juice was warm, maybe because it was literally just squeezed? I do prefer my juice chilled though. The decor is still modern and nice. No complaints there. I live this place. Thought they changed the menu recently, the food never disappoints. There is usually a wait Saturday and Sunday mid-morning/after church. It's the weekend, and that means brunch with bottom less mimosa. So always looking for a new adventure , I chose Eggspectation and let me tell you, not disappointed. Let me start with the fresh squeezes juice, as well as the mimosa flight. Clearly, the flight was a better buy....various fresh squeezes, juices, and great Champaign. Great menu with a broad array of dishes to satisfy any appetite. The service was excellent. Be prepared to wait a few minutes for a seat as they place had a steady flow of traffic. Reservations were not permitted. Price wise, I would consider it reasonable. Seating and overall ambiance were great. We managed to find seats at the bar any, as a result, reduced our wait time. Ok, if you're on the fence about trying, just come! The lamb chops are fire ! It's seasoned with chimichurri and so good! I got one pancake and that was soft and good! If you get the eggs and potatoes, ask for hollandaise sauce to go with them as they aren't seasoned at all. But other than that my meal was so good! My over medium eggs were cooked well too! BREAKFAST TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE: This experience at Eggspectation was OK. The food was OK and the menu items for their breakfast is classic American from omelettes, pancakes, breakfast potatoes, waffles, etc.. That said, the attention to detail is what puts this restaurant in the category of diner food which isn't bad. When it comes to breakfast, a restaurant can do one of three things 1) serve diner-quality food, 2) serve upscale diner food, or 3) distinguish themselves and are doing breakfast well. The indoor seating and dining area seems adequate and the inside of the restaurant looks nice. Takeout orders are submitted at the bar. Regarding the attention to detail with the menu items, the chicken served with the chicken and waffles could have been fried better. I believe the chicken wasn't freshly fried and perhaps had been sitting, previously fried, when it was served to me. It seemed dry. The omelette was loaded with veggies, which isn't a problem, however, overall it lacked flavor. So was the case with the breakfast potatoes and grits. To label the entire order I'd say it could have been better. If in the area, again, I will dine in to see if the experience is better. Give them a try! read more

My expectations for Eggspectations were high. Not sure if she thought it was loud in the back of the restaurant, but our waitress Kennedy was yelling at us while taking our order. It was very strange & felt unpleasant. I was not a fan of the iced coffee. However, the chicken & waffles were great. I was also a big fan of their flavorful lyonnaise potatoes. I have passed this place several times thinking that it was only a breakfast place that offered egg like meals. However, to my surprise, they have wings, shrimp, and grits steak grilled chicken, etc. The Mediterranean wings were absolutely delicious as was the chicken crêpe. The shrimp and grits were OK however I would've liked more grits and more sausage. The cocktails were also, pretty delicious. My BF and I decided to dine at Eggspectation-Gambrills for Valentine's Day. They offer "Date Night" on Fridays which is a Prix Fixe Menu for $55 per couple from 4pm to close. What a great deal!! The portions were a nice size. The service was great and the ambiance is cozy. We truly enjoyed the food. We recommend giving them a try. I've been a fan of eggspectation for years and was sad when their silver spring and Elkridge locations closed. This location has been open for a little while now, so I finally got the chance to visit. I got their hot chocolate, which was great as usual. Their breakfast cocktails are always good by the way, but the hot chocolate was non-alcoholic. Just wasn't in a drinking mood that day. For my meal, I ordered the Nashville hot chicken Benny, which was a huge disappointment. The chicken was not tender at all and was hard to chew. I actually asked for the waiter to take it back, which I hate doing, but she was friendly about it and didn't charge me. read more

We had a group of 5. Even though it was packed, we were seated fairly quickly. We started with the gooey goose bread. The bread was so good we ordered 2. It was so warm with such a buttery flavor. It tastes like a cinnamon Auntie Annie pretzel but softer and better. The cinnamon butter literally melts in your mouth. I ordered the lamb and eggs. The Lamb was cooked perfectly medium and had a lot of flavor. It came with potatoes. I don't typically eat breakfast potatoes, but I did eat quite a bit of these. They had a good crunch and flavor to them. The restaurant had good lighting and nice pictures. The servers were kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend. Arrived here at 10 AM on a Sunday and it was busy but still only a 20 minute wait! We got lucky and snagged a booth. The service was solid as well. I liked the layout of the restaurant. We ordered the Eggspectation crepe, breakfast poutine, side of French toast and green light juice. Green Light Juice: 10/10 It tastes so fresh and delicious! I loved it and wish I got more. Eggspectation Crepe: 7/10 It was a pretty solid crepe and the hollandaise sauce isn't too heavy. However, we unfortunately had a mushroom in the crepe which was probably an accident but it did ruin it a bit for us. Breakfast Poutine: 9/10 I really loved this! The potato's are perfectly soft and crispy and with the gravy, egg, cheese and meat it all came together so well. I saw previous reviews saying how there isn't enough gravy but I thought it was the right amount. French toast side: 9/10 The French toast itself is not too sweet which we appreciated. I like how you can order just a side of French toast instead of an entire order for it. Perfect for when you're craving something sweet to compliment a savory breakfast. We came back !! This time I got the EGGSTRAVAGANZA and a mimosa flight and babe got the MEAT LOVERS OMELETTE and a mimosa flight. We decided our favorite out of the flight was the strawberry mimosa, so we ordered a carafe of that! Our food was soooo good and so much! But I think my favorite is still the EGGSPECTATION CREPE that I had last time!! You really can't go wrong with any of these dishes! We went in the afternoon and there was a very short wait. So if we would go, we might go in the afternoon around 1 or 2 PM, from now on to avoid the crowd in the morning. Our server was nice and attentive. And we sat closer to the bar this time. The Ambiance was still the same busy but light and airy. I still love the decor... It's a little louder the closer you are to the bar which makes sense but it wasn't bad. I am no stranger to Eggspectation and I'm glad to see how much they're growing. So far, I've visited the Ellicott City and Owings Mills locations. This is my first time at the Gambrills location which is fairly new. Since I have a new doctor that is located in the same shopping center, I decided to treat myself to a mid-week brunch after my doctor's appointment. When I arrived on a late Thursday morning, I was immediately seated and a server promptly greeted me. After looking over the menu, I went with my usual...the Eggstravaganza. It is a French toast platter that comes with eggs, potatoes, and your choice of meat. I also got a tropical teaser juice. Everything was delicious and the service was good. Although I live closest to the Ellicott City location, I'm glad to see Eggspectation in the Gambrills area. I will definitely return. read more
