My husband and I went to this restaurant for the first time today. Overall, it was not a horrible experience, but I doubt that we will go back. Let's start with the positive. Our waiter, who, I apologize I don't recall his name, was very good. He was friendly and attentive, and we never had to wait for anything we needed. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. He is a chicken and waffles purist, and although he knew these were chicken tenders and not four pieces of chicken as he prefers, he was willing to give the dish a try. He was underwhelmed. The chicken was dry, and the waffles were , nothing special. I ordered the blueberry, lemon, ricotta pancakes. I was hoping to order crêpes, but they only had savory options that I could see. So, I went with the pancakes instead. The lemon flavor was very pronounced, and the pancakes were cooked very nicely. I like a little Christmas on them, and these had it. Overall, my meal was good, but, just as my husband was, it was very over priced. Despite the fact, the restaurant has only been opened for a couple of years, the core looked a little worn. I don't think that was the intention, however. It was very bright and clean, however. We met up as a family on a weekday to experience this highly anticipated breakfast for ourselves and it did not disappoint! Excellent service, excellent food, and an excellent atmosphere. They have a full bar and a very extensive menu filled with delicious breakfast foods that's served all day. Never fear because other lunch and early dinner foods are offered later in the day, if you're not a big breakfast person. I ordered the chicken and waffles for my meal and it was scrumptious! Very filling and prepared perfectly well! An 18% gratuity will automatically be charged to your bill, but you can speak to the manager if you don't think it's warranted. This location is brand new to the Gambrills area, but I feel like it's going to eventually be one of, if not the best breakfast spots in the area. Keeping in mind that I visited this location within 3 weeks of it opening, it definitely had some room for improvement, but I was not totally going to write this place off before they can even get the doors opened good. My server was training another server when we visited, which I thought was weird because the trainer was forgetful and we never received a few items both food and drinks that we ordered. The trainee must've missed it also, which is more understandable but it still sucked for us. The food that we did get was really good, though my juice sat at the bar for an extended period of time and got to my table at almost room temperature. The shrimp and grits was good, but it only had about 4 pieces of shrimp and a ton of sausage. The piri piri wings were delicious, and might be some of my favorite wings in the area. My daughter ordered the Huevos Ranchero which she enjoyed. It looked delicious when it came to the table. My wife got a classic meal, but ordered it with the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes which might've been some of the best pancakes i've had in a while. So definitely some good and bad during my visit, but I will say that I don't think the service was malicious. More like a young lady that for some reason was training a newbie while still getting the hang of things herself. I'm looking forward to coming back and updating this review in a couple months, because there really aren't ANY good breakfast spots around this area, and this one is right around the corner. I was devasted when the Silver Spring location closed. lThey have opened a location in Anne Arundel County. It's not far from Bowie or Crofton. Sydney ? Was our server. OMFG epic brunch spot. The Gambrills location is a must try Sunday Funday brunch spot. We loved the punk rock decor in the way back seating area--totally our vibe. Though the restaurant gets VERY busy, staff is able to keep themselves cool and collected. Everyone was kind and pleasant. Food was on-point. SO GOOD. I swear, they have the best waffles and pancakes here. You can't go wrong ordering them here--they could complete and possibly take down Iron Rooster (I said what I said). TRY THEM. There was no wait and several wait staff standing around and talking quietly. However, it took too long to have our orders taken. After waiting about 15 minutes I got up and walked to the front. They sent someone over who said she would take our drink orders but not the food. I got the All-America breakfast which comes with a large portion of food while my wife got the Shrimp & Grits. We enjoy coming here because the service is great, not overly loud and is kid friendly. This Chicken was skinless, nice and warm with a little bit of crunch to it. One thing I would try different. Use chicken tenders as opposed to fingers, tenders would be thinner, the fingers were kind-of thick and the syrup was really thin. She didn't seem to have a clue about certain items on the menu or wasn't interested in providing great service. I asked if I could substitute the ham in my crepe for mushrooms, she said yes but failed to inform me that it would be an additional cost. The amount of mushrooms in the crepe was not worth the extra $2.00! I don't eat pork but, wanted to try this particular crepe. The person that was with me asked for extra dressing for her salad. Again the waitress failed to say there were would be a charge for it. It wasn't until I got the bill that I found an additional $6.00 added. Had we known this in advance we could have decided whether or not to request the changes/addition. A simple substitution at no additional cost or a knowledgeable waitress who was fully engaged in servicing customers would have been appreciated. Tables are close glad we got a booth. read more
