Been on my radar for awhile, tried once with my husband, but the line was out the door on a Sunday around noon (did not expect any less). Finally got to try it with a friend, and we made sure to come early in case there was a line. Went in at Saturday a little before 11am, and waited about 15 mins in line before ordering. Ordering seemed a bit chaotic and rushed even though we knew exactly what we were ordering. It was just the vibes that we got, hurry up and tell me what you want because I have many other things to do while I take orders between that. After you order, they tell you where your table is. Overall, the restaurant has 3 seating areas. One smalk area inside where you place your order, outside in a courtyard like space, and outside upstairs They currently share the outside space with the other businesses. We got seated outside/upstairs. It was a gorgeous day, so we did not think anything of it, but our table did not have an umbrella for shade, so we started burning up after only 2 minutes of sitting directly under the sun. We looked around and saw a few tables finishing up, so we asked if we could be moved. The worker was so nice, he completely understood and agreed to move us once he clears the tables. A few different people got seated at the same table after, and no one survived. Every party that got seated there would stand up after minutes and ask to be moved. Luckily, the worker informed us that they will be moving down the block next week, so it should no longer be a problem. The ambiance is very cute and lively for friends to get together for brunch. Families can come too, but I cannot imagine coming here with my kids. The food on the otherhand was just all right. We were really looking forward to a delicious meal, but we were a bit disappointed. Yelpers rave about how amazing the food is, but the only dish we liked was the birria. It was juicy, tender, flavorful, and crispy. It was the first thing to come out, so we were excited for everything else. It just went downhill from there. The short rib hash was tender, but the flavor just was not great. We asked for extra crispy potatoes, and they did not deliver. The meat was saucy, but it just did not do anything for us. The famous Tres Leche French toast was dry. It felt like we were eating bread smothered in sauce with fruits, rather than bread thats been soaked. If it was soaked, it would not be dry in the center. Garlic fries were also okay, more on salty side. We also wish they were more crispy. We originally said we would come back to try the other dishes that we could not get because there was only 2 of us, but we are having second thoughts now. Definitely would not go out of my way to come again, but would give it another try if I were in the area and there was little to no line.
Came here with a couple friends on a Saturday for brunch. The entrance is a bit hidden off Shattuck. The line was pretty long, we probably waited for at least 20+ minutes, but the line area is nicely decorated. Kind of a bustling chaotic vibe. You pay at the counter before seating yourself. I tried the breakfast sando, which was tasty for sure but also heavy/greasy. The consensus around the table was that the food was generally pretty heavy. Also worth noting, the waffles that came with the chicken and waffles dish tasted fried (almost like a donut), which was surprising. My dish came with a fruit cup to kind of balance out the grease, which was nice. I'd say it was a solid brunch but I wouldn't go out of my way to wait in line for it again, probably. They were also blasting club-adjacent music which made for a weird brunch vibe.
An incredible brunch experience! Eggy's is tucked away down an alley on Shattuck, blink and you'll miss it. I loved the ambiance of walking through the outdoor seating which if full of plants and a small water founts as we lined up and waited to order. The staff run like a well oiled machine throughout the hustle and bustle of the weekend brunch hours. We ordered the Chilaquiles Verdes and the Fried Chicken Bene to share between us. Both of our dishes were so delicious. I love the tortilla chips they use in the chilaquiles, it soaks up the tomatillo sauce and yolk from the eggs so well. It is incredibly flavorful and a great portion size. The house potatoes served with the fried chicken benedict were the perfect accompaniment, the chicken was crispy, and the poached eggs were runny just how we like it! We left this meal feeling very satisfied and I hope I get to come back again (:
Quick and friendly service! I enjoyed my omelette. It was flavorful and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. My daughter had the breakfast burrito. The tortilla had a bit of a strange after taste. My husband enjoyed his chorizo hash. I enjoyed their spa-like drinking water. A nice garden outside although it was too chilly to sit there.
Such a cute brunch spot!! I came here with my husband and toddler on a Thursday around noon. You order first and then find a table. It was pretty packed but thankfully we were able to snag a table inside. The food didn't take too long to come out. We got the Tres Leches French Toast and Braised Short Rib Hash. My toddler loved the french toast because of all of the berries that came with it. It was tasty but like other reviewers mentioned, the berry compote overpowered the tres leches. The short rib hash was decent but not worth the price point. The food we ordered didn't satisfy us as much as we were hoping it would. I give the food 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 stars because of the beautiful ambiance.
The food was amazing! The waffles are definitely as good as folks say they are. It's not too airy, not too cakey, not too right. Goldilocks would love it. Their french toast was also a pleasant surprise. And the fried chicken was delicious! Crispy and juicy. Honestly one of the best fried chickens I've had. Breakfast potatoes had a slight crisp and were cooked well. The jamon omelette was ok... not exciting. In fact, a little disappointing since everything else was sooo good. Wish there had been more flavor there; I was also thrown off by the chunks of Brie cheese in there. The peppers, jamon and Brie definitely did not play well together. Came here right at 9:26 a.m. with friends after we ended a hike early due to a swarm of bees chasing out hikers ahead of us and then swarming the rest of the trail. We thought we were gonna be the restaurant openers since they open at 9:30 a.m. but there was already a line of about 12 people! We eventually were in some seats by 9:50 a.m. The restaurant is cafeteria style where you order at the cashier, pay and then get a number so your food can be delivered to your table. I get why this is the spot for brunch on Shattuck. Very cute inside, cozy patio seating. Wish their menu was more well-rounded--even for less popular brekky items.
I arrived around 1:10pm on a Saturday (this establishment closes at 3pm) thinking who would dine here at this hour. Let me tell you, at least 30 other people. Luckily, the line was moving pretty quick. Since my friend and I were going to share dishes, we decided on one sweet one savory. Steak and fries - steak, cooked perfectly. Fries nicely crisp. Salad, fresh. French Toast - this is one of the popular items however, I wasn't too impressed with it. Could've been sweeter. The space is huge, great service.
I was a walk in with my childhood friend from out of town before Pilates. We got shrimp tacos, avocado toast, a bottle of mimosa and it was sooooo yummy! The portions are perfectly sized, seasoned, and plated. Not only does everything look good but tastes good too. I really recommend getting a mimosa bottle if you know you're in for a long yap session, I love that they give you all the flavors to try- my favorite were guava and cranberry. The service was the perfect level of attentive and when we annoyingly asked for pictures to commemorate our hangout, the server was happy to humor us. Another note on service- We had asked if we could get a table on the rooftop and they tried their best but couldn't make it work because of how busy they were. Oh well. No big deal! We enjoyed our sunny little high top regardless and forgot about the rooftop entirely. When we later on finished our meal they were so kind to bring out a churro waffle and apologize for not getting us a table, it was not expected at all. But such a kind gesture and testament to how much thought and care they put into their restaurant. They genuinely care about their customers because we would've enjoyed our time at Eggy's regardless! Unfortunately for me, I'm now hooked on another one of their dishes hehehe so I will now be back for my shrimp tacos, guava mimosas, AND churro waffle hahaha
1st time at Eggy's. Wife been wanting to try out the Poke Nachos and I fulfilled her wish! Cool stylish entrance with art and photos. There was a nice little calming water feature in the outdoor seating area. We got there near closing and the place was still packed! Nice sized menu. Wife already knew what she was going for, but I had no clue. She got her craving of poke nachos and killed it! I guess it was good! I got the huevos rancheros. It was solid, but was drowned in salsa verde, and the utilized whole fried tortillas opposed to chips. I kinda wished I went for either the chicken and waffles or the french toast! It's definitely worth the try, and we'll probably be back! The poke nachos LOOKED hella good, but unfortunately, I only got a chip, a small piece of tuna and avocado. Wife inhaled it!
Eggy's always been that kind of spot to hang with friends, take cute pics, and pay a little extra for the ambiance. The place is super aesthetic and the plating is beautiful. but food-wise, I'd say it's pretty middle of the pack for a latin-fusion brunch. The best part of the chilaquiles verdes was honestly the chips. they tasted freshly fried and the texture was great (as it should be at that price). Flavor-wise though, the sauce and toppings didn't really wow me. The birria was tender, but a bit too salty for my taste. The fries from the birria dip sando were fine but nothing special. The sandwich was soft and comfy, and again the birria was tender but leaned salty. The consomé was decent, but not as rich or deep as the kind you get from even a good street taco stand. The huevos rancheros were also fine. Everything tasted fresh, but nothing that made me go I need this again. Tres leches French toast was the standout. I actually messed with the house blueberry jam heavy. The toast itself is still just french toast, and yeah it's pricey, but it was the one thing that felt memorable. Service was nothing to write home about, you line up to order at the register then they give you a number and sit you at a table. Water, napkins, and condiments are all at the front as self serve. Our group of four left full and satisfied, and for Berkeley it's a vibe. In the same brunch category, I think la note is better, feel like Eggy's is more style than substance.
I've been meaning to go here since it's opened but never had the chance to until now! I love how the restaurant itself is hidden, the ambiance is super welcoming and comforting. Such an amazing staff with amazing food! Gio, Arnold, and another young gentleman were great. Always made sure we were good and if we needed anything. I work off of shattuck and heard they're relocating closer to where I am so it'll be super exciting!
Eggy's in Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto is a few doors down from the legendary Chez Panisse. It's a well-run, Asian fusion breakfast spot with a slightly unusual setup: you queue up to order and may wait there for a bit, but the staff is organized to help you find seating after ordering. We arrived at 10 a.m. (early for brunch) and waited, standing for 30 minutes in a line, to order. Seating is about 60% outdoors, split between a garden area and a rooftop patio with umbrellas and café chairs, and 40% indoors. They have a solid menu with both sweet and savory options, including French toast, waffles, a handful of Benedicts, and a meaty hash. We had the chicken and waffles: boneless fried chicken with freshly made, deep fried waffles that leaned indulgent, reminiscent of a funnel cake. The fresh squeezed orange juice was excellent. Overall, the staff runs a tight ship. The brunch offering is good, even if a fried waffle wasn't our speed. It's worth a visit, and at its best when the line is shorter.
Eggy's was marvelous as far as the food and service were concerned. I ordered the light and fluffy Churro wafflfes thay come with mixed berries and scoop of vanilla ice cream. Added a side of roasted potatoes and cleansed my throat with thier house coffee. My friend had a Rib-eye steak & egggs with sourdough toast/roasted potatoes. The restaurant has 3 levels.....2 for outside seating garden paradise setting and inside is set up like being in your home kitchen and dinning room. The thing that was a little off putting was climbing a flight of stairs to the bathroom. The water bar was a nice touch. Overall a good brunch day. Ciao for now.....
The ambiance is not what I expected it is very beautiful the food was super tasty along with the cocktails it was a very long line I chose to wait it out was about 15-20 minutes not that bad as I was waiting there were nice things around to sightsee finding a park I would say was the main issue overall I had a great experience and will definitely be returning :) read more
This is such a beautiful brunch spot!! 10/10 on the ambiance. We visited for a weekend brunch and there was a loooong line through the alley leading to the restaurant. It moves quickly though, so don't be discouraged! Definitely come early if you don't want to wait though. You order at the counter, then the employees help you find seating. We had a slightly large group of 6, and the employees were all very accommodating in helping us find seating in time. We were sat outside beneath the trees which I enjoyed! I ordered the classic eggs benedict and it was deliiicious. It comes with a side of potatoes. I feel like at most brunch spots, the potatoes can always be a hit or miss, especially if they don't meet the "crispy" factor that I look for. Buuut, these ones were delicious! Well-seasoned, and I appreciated the flavors that the peppers/onions added to it. The benedict itself was also super good - the hollandaise was rich, and the eggs were perfectly poached. I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again! All of the food I tried were super good, and the staff were also friendly. read more

I visited on a weekday, and I was pleased to find the lane short, allowing us to get a table easily. Our food arrived promptly, which was great! I was a bit disappointed to discover that coffee options have been limited, but the menu still offers a wide variety of choices. In our party of two, I ordered steak and frites, while my friend opted for steak and eggs. We both thoroughly enjoyed the quality and flavor of the meat. I especially loved the salad--it was fresh and the dressing was delightful. The staff was very friendly, which added to our enjoyable dining experience. I plan to return on weekdays, as it tends to get hectic for brunch on weekends. read more
Cute spot, delicious food! Line was super long. Line up and order your food first, then get seated! People be waiting in line so long only for them to not know what they want once they get to the front?! The wait is worth it though! My bf and I ended up splitting the tres leches French toast + a chorizo benedict. The benedict was solid. Genuinely the most peak place ever. The food is amazing and came out incredibly fast. The service is great and the location itself is gorgeous and I love the outdoor seating, it's perfect for sunny days. Arrived on a Sunday morning at approximately 10:40 a.m. and had about a 30-minute wait. As a first-timer, I was a little confused about how everything worked, but I was able to ask a server, and she was nice enough to explain that you order first and then will be seated. I decided to order the Tres Leches French Toast and the Churro Waffle, and my boyfriend ordered the Chorizo Bene. For drinks, we ordered a fresh-squeezed orange juice and a mango mimosa (amazing, by the way--coming from someone who hates mimosas, they sold me on this one). The Tres Leches French Toast was good, but I definitely loved the Churro Waffle. Overall, as far as the food goes, I would say it is definitely five stars. However, the serving time is where I think there needs to be improvement (in regards to both food and timing). I hate that I had this experience, in all honesty. I understand that this is a very busy place; customer service was great, but the staff were definitely overwhelmed. I was able to receive my order (French Toast) fairly quickly, but unfortunately, my boyfriend waited over 20 minutes for his Chorizo Bene. It may have been longer if I hadn't asked and inquired about his plate. I also ordered a side of potatoes that was forgotten. The staff were nice and accommodating about bringing out our food once we mentioned it, so I cannot complain about the customer service. I think if our food had been brought out in a similar time frame, I would have rated it well over five stars if I could. Nonetheless, the ambiance and atmosphere were great! Clean restaurant, nice area--definitely a struggle to find parking because it is busy, but definitely worth the wait. I hope to try again and hopefully have a smoother experience next time. read more
The food was good. I got the tres leches French toast and it was very soft and not too sweet. The fresh fruit and the jam on top were both amazing. And the house potatoes omg were like crack. They were so soft on the inside with the perfect crispy crust. Now the reason I took a star off was that the waiters kept forgetting our stuff- brought the wrong order, forgot our drinks, and then we had to ask for to go boxes multiple times. I understand it was SUPER BUSY though. That being said we had to wait over an hour to get seated so get here early or expect to wait for a long time for weekend brunch. read more

We had such an amazing experience! We ordered the fried chicken & waffles, birria tacos, mango and cranberry mimosas, and berry lemonade and everything was absolutely delicious. The food was seasoned so well and full of flavor! The restaurant was very clean, and the staff were incredibly patient, helpful, and kind. A special shoutout to Arnold, who was one of the coolest people and made our experience even better. He was so patient with my picky 5-year-old -- and that says a lot because my child even asked, "When are we coming back?" It's definitely worth the wait, so don't let the line discourage you! Trust me, once you taste the food and experience the service, you'll understand why people keep coming back. Great food, great vibes, and amazing customer service. The garden walkway entrance takes you to another place and makes the long wait on the weekend not feel so bad when your surrounded by such beauty. Now let's get to the food. Everything looked good. I was drawn in by the churro waffles, I love churros in general. They were good as a dessert dish or to share but it wasn't enough to be the only thing I order. I also got the birria tacos which was also tasty and the veggie omelet plate with fried home style potatoes. I wasn't crazy about the goat cheese in the omelet. Atleast that's what I thought it was haha. Bottom line is good food, great ambiance and worth trying out. Pro tips: extremely hard to find parking, especially on the weekend. I would suggest trying to go on the weekday or very early on weekend. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday and there was a 40min wait but definitely worth it and it goes by fast because there is plenty of outside seating and a cozy indoor seating. You order at the front and they give you a number for the table and seat you. There are active servers bringing waters, utensils, and to go boxes if needed. We had both types of chilaquiles and they each had a unique taste but not spicy. The fried chicken Benedict was my favorite because of the sauce. The crispy house potatoes complimented well and brought the dish together. The winner was the tres leches French toast with that homemade jam and fresh berries. I took it home and it was still great when I reheated it the next day. The drinks were okay. Nothing too special but we enjoyed them. Definitely want to return for the lunch food items. read more

This place was a cute brunch spot to visit! The line was a bit long as we got there around 11:30am, but it went by relatively quickly. Staff was helpful and gave us a menu while we were waiting as well. The food was great, I tried the chilaquiles and the churro waffle. The chilaquiles weren't spicy but had great flavor. And the waffles were amazing, light and yummy! They had a lot of seating, and it was very pretty. They had a cute outdoorsy area with lots of plants, and a traditional indoor area as well. read more
Is my day off so I decided to come in for breakfast with my sister and friends and their kids. I had a blast. We came in just on time to not be waiting in line to order. This is a place where you order at the register and the cashier brings your food to your table. We ordered coffee, a michelada and a mimosa, then we order our food. 4 orders of chilaquiles with steak , 1 order of chicken & waffles and one order of French toast. Everything Amazing, no complains only compliments. The guys that helped us were very nice and attentive, we got everything we needed, and there was coffee refills constantly which I loved. The place has outdoors sitting and second floor sitting as well. The place is pretty cute and relaxing. I will be coming back read more

Eggy's is awesome. No wonder the line is always out the door! I got the fried chicken bene and it was delicious. The chicken was crispy and the buffalo hollandaise sauce was so rich. The waffle was my favorite part; it was so buttery and sweet! I also really enjoyed the potatoes, but next time I'll opt for a side salad instead as the meal was super heavy. That's my fault though! My partner got the chilaquiles and it was pretty good as well, though he wishes he got something else because it was pretty plain. I thought it was yummy! The staff is very nice and the service is great! We sat outside in the garden space and it was lovely. Overall a wonderful experience and I'd love to go again. read more

I wish it weren't raining because their outside patio area looks amazing; a whole vibe! This was my first time coming here. I decided to search up breakfast spots in Berkeley on IG, and this place kept popping up! That said more than enough. We weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves, or wait to me seated; Javier introduced himself, welcomed us, and told us how their establishment worked. He took our order and we headed over to our seats. Even Gio (our server) was very welcoming. When he brought out my food in particular, j He double checked with me to see if I had any allergies to blueberries (I ordered the tres Leche French toast and asked for no blueberries to be placed on top. The French toast comes with their house made jam and it consists of blueberries, so he wanted to make sure that I wasn't in fact allergic). That is the kind of customer service that goes above and beyond. Good customer service is extremely hard to come by in this world now a days. Javier was right when he told me that their food was good! He said everything on their menu as good! Now I didn't try everything on the menu, but every single thing that we did order, was nothing short of amazing. Thank you Javier and Gio for such wonderful service to my family and I, when we come back to town, we know where we will be dinning for brunch. read more

I found this place on TikTok and it was worth the hype! I decided to grab brunch here on a Saturday morning since I was close to campus. I am glad I came early because the line got SOOOO long. After you order at the register, you are able to find a place to sit. There are lots of options but we managed to get a nice spot on their balcony so the vibes were great. Overall, our bill for 2 was not that bad for brunch! Usually it's overpriced like crazzzzzy. Would love to come here again! read more

On a recent weekend, my husband & I (and our 2 French Bulldogs) sought a casual brunch spot, preferably with outdoor seating. Eggy's hit the spot! Although the line to get in was considerable, (wait estimated at 40 min.) it moved right along and staff even provided menus so we could make our selections before seating. This seems to be a spot where large groups (families, Cal students) like to gather, but we 2 felt equally welcome. Service was fast & friendly. The food itself was delicious and presentation was appealing. We had an omelette (bacon, mushrooms & brie) and a Benedict. The accompanying roasted potatoes were quite tasty too. Our young server was friendly and knowledgeable. The servers appeared to operate as a smooth-running team, pitching in to help each other. Prepare to wait in line but you'll be rewarded! read more
My absolute favorite brunch spot. Every time I bring a new guest here, they fall in love with this spot. There are no bad options on the menu!! I mean that!!Everything I try here is always delicious. I got the fried chicken bene this time and it was amazing. We were here to celebrate a graduation and our whole party had zero complaints. They're always playing really good Latin music and the staff are nice. I just wish they had a reservation system because it's a gamble to guess what the line is like (keep in mind that you have to wait in line & order before being seated). Eggy's is located in the North Berkeley area right along Shattuck. My brother and I wanted to come here after hearing a lot of good things about this place from friends in the area. We went on Saturday morning around opening. Even though the line looked long it moves fairly quickly. We waited 15ish minutes to order and get seated. You place your order at the counter and then the staff will help find a seat for your group. We were seated outside with an umbrella to provide shade. There were also seating options inside and a mix of shaded/not shaded outdoor seating. One note about parking is that it can be challenging to find but there are street parking options around the area. I was super intrigued by their churro waffle so we got this to share. The waffle was delicious with a crisp exterior and the perfect amount of cinnamon/sugar coating on the outside. I loved how cute the presentation was and the dulce de leche drizzle was a nice touch. I ordered the Eggy's chorizo hash and it was also very tasty. This was a hardy brunch classic done well. I felt that the portion size was good and I really liked the chorizo they used. The potatoes were also cooked and seasoned well. Overall, I think this place is great for brunch and I would definitely come back to try their other brunch items. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 12:40pm. We waited for 50min outside until we could order and got seated. Food took another 15 min to come. We sat inside since it's too sunny with no shade outside. But inside was loud. Hubby and daughter came 2 weeks ago and raved about their French toast. So we just had to come back. We ordered: Tres leche French toast - it was good but not as exceptional as hubby raved about Ribeye sando- it was quite good. Better than the avg sando out there. Garlic fries were great. Eggs Benedict- this came later than the other dishes and I forgot to take a pic. It was ok and we were starving so I ate it quickly. Churro waffles- the best! This was so good. Highly recommended! Overall, this is a good brunch spot. But I really don't know about waiting an hour for it, thus minus 1 star. read more

Loved this neighborhood eatery. You have to look for it (no sign outside) but so worth it. The garden is gorgeous and the line is long but moves relatively quickly. No reservations so plan to wait 30ish minutes minimum. Loved we could bring our dog with us. Food was beautiful and delicious. Fresh squeezed orange juice was perfectly sweet. Coffee was hot and smooth. Highly recommend the braised short ribs hash! Perfectly poached jammy eggs top Thai savory dish with tender short rib and crisp potatoes. The house crispy potatoes were perfect for us and to feed our pet too. Shared the tres leche French toast. Glad to have asked for the sauce on the side since the challah French toast was sweet and cinnamony on its own. The berries added a nice tart punch. Can't wait to try more dishes next time. read more

Great ambiance and outside seating for all guests. Servers were kind and helpful! The churro waffle was sweet and different than any waffle I've had. Comes with fruit and ice cream! The sausage from the burger was well done and was a highlight. The fried chicken bene was crispy and comes with a sweet waffle twist. Definitely an interesting spot with fun combinations of foods. Five stars across the board! Finally got a chance to try Eggy's and they did not disappoint! The line for Sunday Brunch was long but it moved pretty fast. Lively atmosphere with good vibes. The customer service was excellent and we can't wait to come back! Everything we tried was delicious, from the drinks to the food. The De-bloat juice, Caramel Latte, and Mango/Guava Mimosa were all perfectly made. The Steak Frites and Churro Waffles were amazing!
