I have heard a lot of good things about this place and finally decided to try it out and it definitely met the expectations. We went on a Saturday so the line was a little long but it moved swiftly. Getting seated was a little confusing because they have you seat yourself but not really, definitely something they can work on. The place was super cute I love all the greenery. The food came out quick and was delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The sangria was also really good and a little strong just like I like it. Will definitely be coming back.
Great breakfast and brunch place. The service is also good. You can add whatever you want on the menu the chicken is has a unique coating that was awesome. I had it wth tres leches French toast. The coffee was not a watered down type good flavor They do have a sign though saying they are going to relocate. Check out my pics
Eggy's offers both indoor and outdoor dining. This a very solid place for those that want to dine in a garden oasis - very pet friendly and you will still be served by the staff. The line to order was very long. Seating could be limited - you cannot "reserve" or sit in an empty space until you have ordered your food. Technically this "rule" wasn't apparent, but the staff will tell you to get up and give up your seat for those that have ordered. This is a great way to control the seating arrangement for a limited space with lots of customers. The food was pretty solid - a bit on the pricier end. I ordered the steak and eggs. Medium steak, but was a bit overcooked and needed just a tad bit more salt. I like that when I asked for scrambled eggs, they made it omelette style. I went here on a Saturday lunch and it was packed. Took about 15 min in line before being able to order but the food came fast. Parking was tough - street parking only in a very busy street.
DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO WAIT!!! Ok, let me break this place down for you. When I first showed up, the line was scary long but we were not in a rush so I said, let's wait it out. Now this place operates like the new concept restaurants are beginning to follow. You get in line, you order, and then you are seated after you get your number. Please note, YOU CANNOT SAVE A TABLE UNTIL YOU HAVE ORDERED. Also, I recommend seating outside because inside was super loud. Ok now that the logistics are out of the way, here is the really good stuff. Their Huevos Rancheros are absolutely amazing. I am so glad that's what I chose to try because seriously, they were sooo good my husband was jealous he didn't get them lol. The Tres Leches French Toast, also amazing and it's a HUGE serving so be share:) The overall ambiance was cool, food was great, the service, let me tell you, the service was some of thee best I've ever seen. My friends and I stopped by for brunch at Eggy's Neighborhood Kitchen on a Sunday evening and it was busy as it gets. The line of 30+ people was wrapped far down the ramp. I was worried that the line would take a super long time, but shockingly, the wait was "only" 30 minutes or so before we were able to place our order, and another 15 minutes before we received our food. Overall, I found the food at Eggy's to be good, but pricey -- consistent with any bunch spot in the Bay Area. I ordered the Oskie breakfast sandwich and thought it was a solid breakfast sandwich. There were two thick pieces of bacon in the sandwich that were cooked neither too crispy, nor too soggy. The fried egg had a gooey, runny yolk which added richness to the sandwich. Definitely a messy eat, so you'll may want to have a few extra napkins nearby. The sausage patty was well seasoned and hash brown was super crunchy -- albeit a bit oily. The fruit salad on the side was a refreshing way to balance out the heavy sandwich. My wife ordered the birria tacos and I thought they were shockingly good. The shell is deep-fried to be extra crispy and the consume carries a lot of deep chili and beef flavor. There's generous amounts of braised beef in each taco. The meat is fall apart tender, and has a good balance of lean and fatty parts. I like that lime wedges are included on the side to add a pop of freshness, as well as the onion and cilantro garnishes. The three included with an order are more than enough for a meal, even for those with large appetites. While food was solid, service was lacking. For example, if you order coffee, coffee is supposed to come with one included refill. However, at no point during our meal did we see any of the staff members walking around to tables to top folks off. Overall, I got the impression that the floor staff here are stretched super thin, are doing too much, and as a result, have no capacity to check in on diners. In terms of atmosphere, the indoor seating area is super loud and floors are insanely slippery. Be incredibly careful walking around indoors or you might find yourself making an unexpected trip to the ER. Overall, despite all the aforementioned negatives, Eggy's is still one of the better brunch spots I've visited in Berkeley. I really appreciate that they have menu items not typically found at other brunch spots.
Finally was able to eat here No line on a Tuesday around 11 am Customer service is good Cashier was patient and friendly We were able to sit inside and watch a soccer game (FIFA) I ordered the braised beef hash $29 it was mostly potatoes and bell peppers see pictures Friend ordered the chicken and waffles and he did enjoy his meal said the chicken was well seasoned and tender Mimosa is $12 each There ie a 3% surcharge regardless of your method of payment (see receipt) Parking is street parking only and you need to pay to avoid a ticket .... Would I come back here again maybe But I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to do so
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Such a vibe. The line is long and I wish we could do reservations but it's first come first serve and you order first then find a seat which they made it work out seamlessly! Steak and eggs were amazing. I'd get it again. Poke nachos is a MUST. Pass on the French toast And I love the outdoor/patio vibes. But heard they're relocating!!!
Eggy's is such a great brunch spot. Everything came out hot, fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor. One thing we really appreciate is the pay-first, then eat concept. It keeps things moving and makes it easy to head out when you're done. Every time we've visited there's been a line, so that seems to be the norm. We stopped by around 1:45 p.m. this time and only had a short wait, which didn't bother us at all. My husband and I ordered the tres leches French toast and omelette, and both were excellent. The French toast had a beautifully golden exterior with thick challah bread. I usually prefer a more custardy center, but I didn't mind that it was a bit drier because the berries, compote, and glaze brought everything together and balanced the dish nicely. The omelette was a standout. The eggs were cooked beautifully and filled with well-seasoned peppers, onions, mushrooms, and creamy goat cheese. The house potatoes were crispy, flavorful, and seasoned just right without being overly salty. Some bites had a little more bite to them while others were soft and tender, which made them even more enjoyable. 10/10 would absolutely come back.
Been on my radar for awhile, tried once with my husband, but the line was out the door on a Sunday around noon (did not expect any less). Finally got to try it with a friend, and we made sure to come early in case there was a line. Went in at Saturday a little before 11am, and waited about 15 mins in line before ordering. Ordering seemed a bit chaotic and rushed even though we knew exactly what we were ordering. It was just the vibes that we got, hurry up and tell me what you want because I have many other things to do while I take orders between that. After you order, they tell you where your table is. Overall, the restaurant has 3 seating areas. One smalk area inside where you place your order, outside in a courtyard like space, and outside upstairs They currently share the outside space with the other businesses. We got seated outside/upstairs. It was a gorgeous day, so we did not think anything of it, but our table did not have an umbrella for shade, so we started burning up after only 2 minutes of sitting directly under the sun. We looked around and saw a few tables finishing up, so we asked if we could be moved. The worker was so nice, he completely understood and agreed to move us once he clears the tables. A few different people got seated at the same table after, and no one survived. Every party that got seated there would stand up after minutes and ask to be moved. Luckily, the worker informed us that they will be moving down the block next week, so it should no longer be a problem. The ambiance is very cute and lively for friends to get together for brunch. Families can come too, but I cannot imagine coming here with my kids. The food on the otherhand was just all right. We were really looking forward to a delicious meal, but we were a bit disappointed. Yelpers rave about how amazing the food is, but the only dish we liked was the birria. It was juicy, tender, flavorful, and crispy. It was the first thing to come out, so we were excited for everything else. It just went downhill from there. The short rib hash was tender, but the flavor just was not great. We asked for extra crispy potatoes, and they did not deliver. The meat was saucy, but it just did not do anything for us. The famous Tres Leche French toast was dry. It felt like we were eating bread smothered in sauce with fruits, rather than bread thats been soaked. If it was soaked, it would not be dry in the center. Garlic fries were also okay, more on salty side. We also wish they were more crispy. We originally said we would come back to try the other dishes that we could not get because there was only 2 of us, but we are having second thoughts now. Definitely would not go out of my way to come again, but would give it another try if I were in the area and there was little to no line.
Came here with a couple friends on a Saturday for brunch. The entrance is a bit hidden off Shattuck. The line was pretty long, we probably waited for at least 20+ minutes, but the line area is nicely decorated. Kind of a bustling chaotic vibe. You pay at the counter before seating yourself. I tried the breakfast sando, which was tasty for sure but also heavy/greasy. The consensus around the table was that the food was generally pretty heavy. Also worth noting, the waffles that came with the chicken and waffles dish tasted fried (almost like a donut), which was surprising. My dish came with a fruit cup to kind of balance out the grease, which was nice. I'd say it was a solid brunch but I wouldn't go out of my way to wait in line for it again, probably. They were also blasting club-adjacent music which made for a weird brunch vibe.
An incredible brunch experience! Eggy's is tucked away down an alley on Shattuck, blink and you'll miss it. I loved the ambiance of walking through the outdoor seating which if full of plants and a small water founts as we lined up and waited to order. The staff run like a well oiled machine throughout the hustle and bustle of the weekend brunch hours. We ordered the Chilaquiles Verdes and the Fried Chicken Bene to share between us. Both of our dishes were so delicious. I love the tortilla chips they use in the chilaquiles, it soaks up the tomatillo sauce and yolk from the eggs so well. It is incredibly flavorful and a great portion size. The house potatoes served with the fried chicken benedict were the perfect accompaniment, the chicken was crispy, and the poached eggs were runny just how we like it! We left this meal feeling very satisfied and I hope I get to come back again (:
Such a cute brunch spot!! I came here with my husband and toddler on a Thursday around noon. You order first and then find a table. It was pretty packed but thankfully we were able to snag a table inside. The food didn't take too long to come out. We got the Tres Leches French Toast and Braised Short Rib Hash. My toddler loved the french toast because of all of the berries that came with it. It was tasty but like other reviewers mentioned, the berry compote overpowered the tres leches. The short rib hash was decent but not worth the price point. The food we ordered didn't satisfy us as much as we were hoping it would. I give the food 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 stars because of the beautiful ambiance.
This is easily one of the best breakfast spots I have ever experienced. The atmosphere is welcoming and tranquil, creating the perfect setting to start your day. As a family-owned business, they have truly mastered what guests look for when dining out--not just great food, but a complete experience. Every detail reflects care and intention. I will definitely be returning.
Super good! I had chilaquiles and they were really yummy. My friends ordered an omelette and a dish with the chorizo and both liked their dishes. We waited for about an hour on a Sunday afternoon. Once we ordered, the food came out really quickly! read more

As a Bay Area Native I wish I would've known about this place sooner! My girlfriend and I got the churro waffles and steak frites to share and were blown away. Everything was as perfect as you could imagine bursting with all types of flavors. I believe the 2 meals to be reasonably priced as it came out to be $26 a person. The drinks (not included in the price earlier) were also really good with a variety of mimosa options. The service was extremely fast as I believe we had gotten our food within 10-15 minutes and everyone was really nice. The ambience also was very cute and makes for a good place for potential photos. One recommendation for those interested in visiting is to get there around opening as lines form pretty quickly. read more
Busy, busy, busy! When we first walked in from the street we were a little confused on where to go, I believe there are a few restaurants in the space that share the outdoor seating. After walking past a few tables we saw a line and the Eggy's sign. The line is formed in a beautiful garden oasis that includes a water element. Once we were at the front of the line we ordered our food, paid, and the host escorted us to an upstairs outdoor table. The table sizes vary from picnic tables to small bistro sets and are very close together. The food was scrumptious. We enjoyed the tres leches French toast, breakfast burrito, shrimp tacos, and coffee. My husband said the shrimp tacos were the best he's ever had, the tres leches french toast was delicious even without maple syrup, and the breakfast burrito was meaty and flavorful. We'll definitely visit again and highly recommend trying Eggy's. read more
1st time here on a Sunday, the wait was not too bad. It Can be deceiving from the outside, you think there's not a line, but there really is, but it was not bad. Staff was very nice and attentive. The chilaquiles with the steak was delicious. The chilaquiles chips were homemade and crispy and they paired perfectly with the green sauce, the steak was cooked to perfection, the chimichurri elevated the steak all together. Now to the chicken and waffles, definitely not a fan. The waffles were deep fried, which I saw that on the menu that the churro waffle was deep fried, but I did not see that in the description for the chicken and waffles or else I would not have ordered it, the waffle was too oily snd just fell apart. The chicken had a lemon flavor which for lunch is probably really good, but for my breakfast I did not care for that, they then put a spicy sauce on top of the chicken and waffles which is spicy as described. I was very pleased with the chilaquiles and the coffee, because I really liked their coffee brand choice. They have a very chill cool ambiance. I definitely recommend and will for sure return to try something new. read more

bday brunch! the birria tacos are soso good! would get again! very generous w the beef and super crispy and good! Eggy's Tres Leches French Toast was huge! also pretty good if you like sweets! splitting a sweet and savory was good, and we had leftovers of the toast afterwards. would probably try something else next time tho inside was very cute! we had 9 people so we sat outside w two tables. the umbrella was broken tho so the sun was in my face the whole time also! you order and pay before sitting down, and we had 9? people and they only eat us split the bill 3 ways which was a bit confusing to settle afterwards. read more
Returned to Eggy's for brunch today. We ordered short rib hash, chicken wings, and the churro waffles. We drank a fresh squeezed orange juice and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was very good, the service was attentive. Eggy's gets alot of customers coming through and the staff do a good job of helping customers find a seat to enjoy your food. The indoor dining area is small and there is also seating outside. This place is a favorite, I'll be back with friends! read more

SUNDAY BRUNCH : SAUCE IS BETTER THAN A1 Price: $$ ($25-$30) Food 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service 3/5 Eggy is one of the best brunch spots, I've been to in months here in Berkeley. The portions are generous, the potatoes are delicious, and that sauce on the steak and chicken is incredible. The food and ambiance were great, but the service was slow. It took at least 50mins-1hr to wait in line and order and another 25 minutes to get our food, so I'm giving it 4 stars. Seating is open seating and on a busy day good luck finding one. And we got the tres leches French toast. I think is overhype, it's alright. Didn't bothered taking a photo. The Star of the show is the sauce and potatoes were amazing! I'll definitely be back, just probably not on a Sunday. read more

This is such a beautiful brunch spot!! 10/10 on the ambiance. We visited for a weekend brunch and there was a loooong line through the alley leading to the restaurant. It moves quickly though, so don't be discouraged! Definitely come early if you don't want to wait though. You order at the counter, then the employees help you find seating. We had a slightly large group of 6, and the employees were all very accommodating in helping us find seating in time. We were sat outside beneath the trees which I enjoyed! I ordered the classic eggs benedict and it was deliiicious. It comes with a side of potatoes. I feel like at most brunch spots, the potatoes can always be a hit or miss, especially if they don't meet the "crispy" factor that I look for. Buuut, these ones were delicious! Well-seasoned, and I appreciated the flavors that the peppers/onions added to it. The benedict itself was also super good - the hollandaise was rich, and the eggs were perfectly poached. eggy's was very nice there was a line but even then it wasn't terrible, the flavours were amazing, and generally the staff was nice -poke nachoes 9/10 superrr saucy, amazing flavours was my favourite overall - tres leches french toast 6/10 was good but i was wanting more of a tres leches flavour to it and the blueberry jam was a bit much of overpowering but overall okay -fried chicken benedict 7.8/10 v flavourful, the sauce was so good, the potatoes were great :) read more

I visited on a weekday, and I was pleased to find the lane short, allowing us to get a table easily. Our food arrived promptly, which was great! I was a bit disappointed to discover that coffee options have been limited, but the menu still offers a wide variety of choices. In our party of two, I ordered steak and frites, while my friend opted for steak and eggs. We both thoroughly enjoyed the quality and flavor of the meat. I especially loved the salad--it was fresh and the dressing was delightful. The staff was very friendly, which added to our enjoyable dining experience. I plan to return on weekdays, as it tends to get hectic for brunch on weekends. read more

People be waiting in line so long only for them to not know what they want once they get to the front?! The wait is worth it though! My bf and I ended up splitting the tres leches French toast + a chorizo benedict. The benedict was solid. Such an amazing staff with amazing food! Gio, Arnold, and another young gentleman were great. Always made sure we were good and if we needed anything. We heard of a good breakfast spot while we were in town and decided to check it out. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. They have a water station to grab your water and to go containers. The food came out quick and it was all very delicious. I definitely recommend the braised short rib hash read more

Arrived on a Sunday morning at approximately 10:40 a.m. and had about a 30-minute wait. As a first-timer, I was a little confused about how everything worked, but I was able to ask a server, and she was nice enough to explain that you order first and then will be seated. I decided to order the Tres Leches French Toast and the Churro Waffle, and my boyfriend ordered the Chorizo Bene. For drinks, we ordered a fresh-squeezed orange juice and a mango mimosa (amazing, by the way--coming from someone who hates mimosas, they sold me on this one). The Tres Leches French Toast was good, but I definitely loved the Churro Waffle. Overall, as far as the food goes, I would say it is definitely five stars. However, the serving time is where I think there needs to be improvement (in regards to both food and timing). I hate that I had this experience, in all honesty. I understand that this is a very busy place; customer service was great, but the staff were definitely overwhelmed. I was able to receive my order (French Toast) fairly quickly, but unfortunately, my boyfriend waited over 20 minutes for his Chorizo Bene. It may have been longer if I hadn't asked and inquired about his plate. I also ordered a side of potatoes that was forgotten. The staff were nice and accommodating about bringing out our food once we mentioned it, so I cannot complain about the customer service. I think if our food had been brought out in a similar time frame, I would have rated it well over five stars if I could. Nonetheless, the ambiance and atmosphere were great! Clean restaurant, nice area--definitely a struggle to find parking because it is busy, but definitely worth the wait. I hope to try again and hopefully have a smoother experience next time. read more

The food was good. I got the tres leches French toast and it was very soft and not too sweet. The fresh fruit and the jam on top were both amazing. And the house potatoes omg were like crack. They were so soft on the inside with the perfect crispy crust. Now the reason I took a star off was that the waiters kept forgetting our stuff- brought the wrong order, forgot our drinks, and then we had to ask for to go boxes multiple times. I understand it was SUPER BUSY though. That being said we had to wait over an hour to get seated so get here early or expect to wait for a long time for weekend brunch. read more

Eggy's Neighborhood Kitchen in Berkeley is easily one of the best breakfast spots in the Bay Area. My wife and I went on a Wednesday and were surprised by how packed it was but that just shows how good it is. Tucked into a beautifully landscaped shopping area, it feels like a hidden gem. Arnold, the host, was fantastic and made the experience even better. We had the chorizo eggs Benedict and churro waffles, plus great coffee everything was delicious. Outstanding service, amazing food, and a great vibe. We'll definitely be back just get there early because it fills up fast! read more

The garden walkway entrance takes you to another place and makes the long wait on the weekend not feel so bad when your surrounded by such beauty. Now let's get to the food. Everything looked good. I was drawn in by the churro waffles, I love churros in general. They were good as a dessert dish or to share but it wasn't enough to be the only thing I order. I also got the birria tacos which was also tasty and the veggie omelet plate with fried home style potatoes. I wasn't crazy about the goat cheese in the omelet. Atleast that's what I thought it was haha. Bottom line is good food, great ambiance and worth trying out. Pro tips: extremely hard to find parking, especially on the weekend. I would suggest trying to go on the weekday or very early on weekend. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday and there was a 40min wait but definitely worth it and it goes by fast because there is plenty of outside seating and a cozy indoor seating. You order at the front and they give you a number for the table and seat you. There are active servers bringing waters, utensils, and to go boxes if needed. We had both types of chilaquiles and they each had a unique taste but not spicy. The fried chicken Benedict was my favorite because of the sauce. The crispy house potatoes complimented well and brought the dish together. The winner was the tres leches French toast with that homemade jam and fresh berries. I took it home and it was still great when I reheated it the next day. The drinks were okay. Nothing too special but we enjoyed them. Definitely want to return for the lunch food items. read more

This place was a cute brunch spot to visit! The line was a bit long as we got there around 11:30am, but it went by relatively quickly. Staff was helpful and gave us a menu while we were waiting as well. The food was great, I tried the chilaquiles and the churro waffle. The chilaquiles weren't spicy but had great flavor. And the waffles were amazing, light and yummy! They had a lot of seating, and it was very pretty. They had a cute outdoorsy area with lots of plants, and a traditional indoor area as well. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was too concerning to ignore. I came to Eggy's in Berkeley for a birthday brunch with friends, and during our meal a staff member accidentally spilled hot coffee directly onto my friend--on her chest, arm, and thighs. While I understand that accidents can happen, the way this was handled by management was completely unacceptable. The waitress did apologize, but beyond that, there was no urgency, no first aid offered, and no real concern shown for my friend's condition. Instead, the manager/owner was dismissive, repeatedly saying "accidents happen," and even told us we could "contact his lawyer." At one point, he remained seated nearby, laughing and watching our table, which felt incredibly inappropriate given that my friend had just been burned. When we asked about an incident report, we were told none would be created because it's a "small business." That response alone was alarming. A guest was physically injured, and there was no effort to properly document or handle the situation. Despite our group spending over $200, the only resolution offered was removing one meal from the bill. No accountability, no professionalism, and no care for the person who was actually hurt. What was meant to be a birthday celebration turned into a very uncomfortable experience. Watching a friend be injured and then dismissed like that was honestly upsetting. I hope this is taken seriously, because no one should be treated this way after being injured at a restaurant. read more
Is my day off so I decided to come in for breakfast with my sister and friends and their kids. I had a blast. We came in just on time to not be waiting in line to order. This is a place where you order at the register and the cashier brings your food to your table. We ordered coffee, a michelada and a mimosa, then we order our food. 4 orders of chilaquiles with steak , 1 order of chicken & waffles and one order of French toast. Everything Amazing, no complains only compliments. The guys that helped us were very nice and attentive, we got everything we needed, and there was coffee refills constantly which I loved. The place has outdoors sitting and second floor sitting as well. The place is pretty cute and relaxing. I will be coming back read more

Cute brunch spot on Shattuck Ave. There was a long line but I'd say it's worth it. Love the outdoor seating options and the surrounding plants. Very aesthetic vibes! Churro Waffle - Loved!! I found this place on TikTok and it was worth the hype! I decided to grab brunch here on a Saturday morning since I was close to campus. I am glad I came early because the line got SOOOO long. After you order at the register, you are able to find a place to sit. There are lots of options but we managed to get a nice spot on their balcony so the vibes were great. Overall, our bill for 2 was not that bad for brunch! Usually it's overpriced like crazzzzzy. Would love to come here again! read more
My absolute favorite brunch spot. Every time I bring a new guest here, they fall in love with this spot. There are no bad options on the menu!! I mean that!!Everything I try here is always delicious. I got the fried chicken bene this time and it was amazing. We were here to celebrate a graduation and our whole party had zero complaints. They're always playing really good Latin music and the staff are nice. I just wish they had a reservation system because it's a gamble to guess what the line is like (keep in mind that you have to wait in line & order before being seated). Eggy's is located in the North Berkeley area right along Shattuck. My brother and I wanted to come here after hearing a lot of good things about this place from friends in the area. We went on Saturday morning around opening. Even though the line looked long it moves fairly quickly. We waited 15ish minutes to order and get seated. You place your order at the counter and then the staff will help find a seat for your group. We were seated outside with an umbrella to provide shade. There were also seating options inside and a mix of shaded/not shaded outdoor seating. One note about parking is that it can be challenging to find but there are street parking options around the area. I was super intrigued by their churro waffle so we got this to share. The waffle was delicious with a crisp exterior and the perfect amount of cinnamon/sugar coating on the outside. I loved how cute the presentation was and the dulce de leche drizzle was a nice touch. I ordered the Eggy's chorizo hash and it was also very tasty. This was a hardy brunch classic done well. I felt that the portion size was good and I really liked the chorizo they used. The potatoes were also cooked and seasoned well. Overall, I think this place is great for brunch and I would definitely come back to try their other brunch items. read more
