Eat Gastropub is a great restaurant for most occasions. I would recommend it for groups of all sizes. The chicken burger with their special "buffaque" sauce can only be described as amazing. The sauce was a great combination of buffalo sauce and barbeque sauce. It was cooked and spiced to perfection. The Gastroburger was very flavorful. This place is so good. We actually went back couple of times. The ale beer was exquisite. The bone marrow was magnificent but the best thing was the buffalo wings. We celebrated a birthday. What a great local place! Looking for some comfort food in Mac and cheese or huge hot pretzels? EAT here! How about thick, beef and bacon mix, made to order burgers? EAT here! Cool mason jar glasses serve up your ice water!? EAT here! The acronym EGP stands for Eat Gastro Pub. When this place was located on Merrick Road in Oceanside, it was called just EAT. Now it has moved to a modern space with cool hispter-esque decor (manbuns galore,) with a just "chill" ambiance. I have been here a few times now and it keeps getting better! I don't know if there is an entrance on Long beach Road. I always swing around back and park in the municipal lot. There is a cute little patio outside with a handful of tables for dining. It was a Friday night and most of the patrons were just outside smoking. The place is always packed, but I never had to wait for a table. The staff is just as friendly and welcoming as the place itself. Inside there is a sprawling bar with sooooooo many beer/drink choices. I am not a craft beer drinker so I can't base my review on the gastro area. There is a awesome indoor "sun room" that also has plenty of seating. I love how much they push the freshness of their food. The selections are all so creative and def. took time to finesse and of course the pleasure of tasting. The chef's totally think out of the box! They have their own greenhouse on premises where they grown their own herbs, spices and produce. Is that fresh or what?! Not many places I have been to do this. Especially on LI. So back to the food...my boyfriend accompanied me this night and was a big fan the minute we walked in. He loved the Morrissey posters on the wall. We studied the menu and I opted for the "Skinny Chick Sandwich" which was a fresh grilled chicken patty, piled high with avocado, greens/tomato, thick bacon topped with a Russian dressing on a whole grain bread. I was happy that I could swap the fries for a side salad at no charge as well! I loved the balsamic dressing on the salad. Very tangy! My boyfriend is more out going than I am and he ordered "The Cure All." I didn't read the description, but lets just say it is in the "Phat Bastards" area on the menu. When the plate was presented, I, as well as many other diners, gazed at it with awe. It was like the immaculate conception of a burger/grilled cheese. I was a little scared of his meal! Love this place!! They have a pretty big space with both indoor and outdoor seating (both in shade and out in sun). I've been there twice now and the food was phenomenal both times. Had the chicken sandwich the first time and the burger the second time. Both were juicy and flavorful and packed with some great toppings. Best wings I've ever had. Came here on a Friday night and it was packed. Started with a beer at the bar and then since They had a live band on the patio that's where we sat for dinner. Our waiter came over right away and explained the specials and we ordered the wings with their special buffalo sauce which he explained was a mixture of buffalo sauce and BBQ sauce. EXCELLENT! I'm not much for wings but my husband loves them and usually has them everywhere we go. We both agreed these are the best we've had. My hubby had the French Onion Dip Sandwich with poutine as his side. He loved the poutine and wasn't so happy with the sandwich. I had a few bites, it was good but not what he was expecting. The roast beef was a little tough and the au jus was more like gravy. The cheese was melted into the bread and didn't make much difference to the sandwich. There was also some sore of crostini under the sandwich which was weird. I ordered the sea bass with toasted potatoes, asparagus and lobster sauce. Yum! It was delicious. And it was so much food I gave my husband half. The atmosphere was great. The band was awesome. The crowd was both old and young. I can't talk highly enough of this place. Came last night on a double date. I got the Mac n burger but without the cheese fondue and it was amazing!! The pretzel bun was toasted perfectly, burger done exactly as I asked for it, and the Mac n cheese patty was a perfect topping. Sweet potato fries were also some of the best I've ever had. The prices were great for the food we got and our waitress Cindi was awesome! She made us laugh and was great at her job. Almost had an issue getting served drinks because my bf and I have out of state licenses (we are from MA and we're visiting friends on Long Island) but it worked out and they had a good selection of beers, including a sour beer my bf tried. I came here with a friend and i had a great time. My waitress was kirsten and she was very attentive to us. The big pretzels are to die for and the chicken burger i had was so good. I came here with two girlfriends two weeks ago and I am officially obsessed. Every single thing we had was amazing. We started with the chips and dip sampler (the onion dip is out of this world amazing) and the philly cheese steak egg rolls (equally as amazing), for dinner I had the Eat Burger. Bacon ground into the chop meat and covered with bacon jam, tomato jam, cheese and onions? Yes please! Unbelievably delicious. To start I had the Mac and Cheese spheres and CheeseSteak Eggrolls. The spheres had zero taste on inside all I could taste was the tomato jam and the outside coating. The inside of the eggrolls were way over done and you could taste it from the meat. The second dish I had was the Pulled Chicken Poutine. It was absolutely bland and had no taste. I thought I was going crazy and my wife tried some...same reaction. Shocked at how unsatisfactory it was. And just to see if they could win me back with dessert I had the Banana Churros. I've been coming to this place since it first opened. I've always had a good experience except for today. I sit at the bar with my friend to have lunch...we are asked what we want to drink and not offered menus. I had to ask the bartender if they're serving lunch for her to get the hint to give us menus. We order lunch. I ordered a turkey club and my friend ordered the strawberry salad. We get our meals and my friend says "I swore this came with chicken" I ask for the menu again and it clearly states: your choice of pulled chicken or grilled" bartender made it out to be like it was somehow her fault that she didn't say she wanted the chicken. Ummmm last I checked you ASK. We are both in the service industry (bartenders) and neither of us would ever make a customer feel like they're wrong when the menu clearly states what's offered. And then she talks about to the customers 2 seats away as if we don't hear. Needless to say, she ultimately took the salad off the check after i told her we are both bartenders and when a customer orders food, u confirm the options that come along w it 6/9/17: I've been meaning to update since my last review...I absolutely love this place and love the owner Tim..the food is always on point! This place was great. An awesome Friday night sitting outside in the back relaxing with a nice cold beer. Great beer selection by the way. Me and my boyfriend come here at least once a week. They have an amazing happy hour at the bar. $5 apps and beer flights and 2 for 1 wines. During football they also have $5 apps and flights. Anthony and James are by far the best bartenders I have ever known. Egp doesn't have much for me to drink, my bf loves their beers but now that pumpkin season is over I'm screwed. They have nothing girly so I don't really go there for the bar I go for the bartenders at this point. James and Anthony are always so knowledgeable and accommodating. Anthony went above and beyond on for us and we really appreciated it. The food is awesome. Not as good as before they changed the chef but these stars are more about the bartenders! I used to love this place but they are taking advantage of their customers during COVID by lying to them to make more money and it's not right. They make every single person individually order something and say it's New York State law that they have to but it is not. The law only requires that everyone drinking needs to be eating. The law does not say we can't share food and it doesn't say every person has to order something individually. I have many members of the family in the restaurant business and confirmed this. This is the only place that requires each person to order something and say it's the law. If it's restaurant policy then fine but just say that instead of lying. They also don't even let you know before hand they wait until after you get your drink. I used to be a loyal customer but they will be lucky if I come back even when they no longer require this. read more

Today we had to suddenly leave suddenly after ordering and were told that we could cancel our order, only for someone else to come over later and say they couldn't do that so we had to wait for our food to go and still pay full price. They were not sorry and did not offer any compromise on price. Waste of fifty dollars. I would give it zero stars if I could + we are not coming back. *Yes, we had to leave suddenly so I understand if they could not have cancelled the order, but we were initially told that they could and then hit with the bill while going through a personal emergency and trying to leave so I was upset. Owner disputes my use of the word 'sudden' and saying that the food is overpriced, but all of their salads are $10-$13 and have no meat, and extras/sides are $7. So my salad of lettuce and 4 oz. of salmon was $20. Sides such as fries, onion rings, etc. are also all $7. That's overpriced in my book seeing as they are nothing special. We came here for the beer selection and house-made condiments but they are not worth the rude staff and owner! read more
