The heat wave hit and my tenant said the AC wasn't cool. Called this company and they were available the next day. After the repair, they called me over the phone for my credit card. And I was trying to find out what was wrong. Turns out to be a simple fix. There's a breaker in the outdoor disconnect that needed to be reset. They completed a few other inspections and tested to make sure the AC was working properly. Is the breaker bad? He also kept saying he can't warranty the breaker. (So sounds like if the breaker goes bad, you might have to hire another person.) Still don't understand how the AC was blowing, but it's not cool (according to my tenant). Whether the indoor breaker trips or the outdoor disconnect breaker trips, I would expect the unit to not blow air at all. Something wrong with the tenant's story and the guy collecting my credit card wasn't clearly explaining either...just focused on getting the credit card number. Nonetheless, since it was such a simple fix, he only charged $45, which was reasonable since the minimum call out fee is $35. read more

I called EHC on Saturday because my A/C was not cooling my house. He offered to come the same day but we had some other engagement. So we scheduled for Monday. He came on time but could not work on the unit because of accessibility. He did not charge me for the trip. I left him a message late Monday morning to reschedule. He climbed up to attic, diagnosed the furnace and got the problem fixed within 15mins. In between he also give me a lesson by explained the functionality and what might caused that problem. During this last crazy big storm (on a Saturday morning nonetheless) my heater gave a whir, a sputter and then it totally DIED leaving me completely cold!!! I DON'T DO COLD!!! I called Eros and he actually offered to come out that day. However, since I had some big events on the weekend, I needed to postpone until Monday. It was a relief to find out that our air condition was in good condition and a voltage surge had tripped the fuse. Called Eros for a second opinion regarding our air conditioning system which another company had said needed to be completely replaced for 12k. It was late afternoon so I was expecting to make an appointment for another day, but he was finishing up another job and offered to come over right away. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to fix the system right then for a few hundred dollars. He also gave us a quote for replacing the system (which we'll have to do eventually since it's old) that was 4k less than the quote from the other company. Everybody busy during December storms but EHC was prompt, very helpful and affordable. He even took the time to undo a sealed vent free of charge, which was the cause for the heater to turn off. He offered me an appointment tomorrow afternoon but when I said I had to work he offered me a morning slot and agreed to call if he had any openings today. My dad's air conditioner worked on saturday 06/17, but when I turned it on the next day, it was blowing room temperature air. I live with my dad, I don't need air conditioning, I have a portable swamp cooler that I have been using the last few days and a portable air conditioner if I need one. But my dad is 88 with alzheimer's, he would sit in heat without realizing it. The unit is the original one put on the roof, approximately 44 years old, it has always worked. I called one guy, he came out this morning and said - the unit needed freon, but to make the freon work the compressor has to work, but the machine is too old and can't get a replacement compressor so you need a new unit. First he said that we need to replace the heater AND air conditioner, but if you want just the air conditioner, it would be $3,500.00, he did not say if this included labor (probably not). I was not going to do that without a second opinion and I had a feeling he was wrong about the compressor and I was right. That was a waste of $45.00, wish I could put a stop payment on the check. I had called Eros Heating and Cooling on monday and left a message. When I didn't hear back from them this morning, I called back and I think it was Eros who answered. That was at 8:39 a.m. I had called 4 other companies on monday, left messages, and have not heard from either of them. Eros was the only one who answered the phone. I told him what happened with the first guy and if I could have a second opinion. He was here at 9:42 a.m. He said it did need freon and the compressor CAN be replaced, but he didn't need to do that, just put in freon. He said it may or may not work, but was willing to try it. He was honest about the cost and about telling me it may not work. Within about 5 minutes of putting in the freon, cold air was coming out. I asked him if the first guy lied and he said yes. I will be writing a review for this other company in hopes that people avoid them. He fixed it fast and is the nicest, respectful guy. I gave him $20.00 more than he asked for because he was HONEST and fast, but mostly for the HONESTY. read more
