On Saturday February 22,2020 at 1:03pm I ordered a cold press coffee and frozen coffee and I'm not sure what was worst the coffee or the service. The girl was extremely rude and I didn't receive my drinks until 1:20pm and I did not receive any apology she just set it on my tables. They did not know how to make the drinks either, they were reading a sign or something. About 1 1/2 stars for this place because of the service and the prices. Service could of been better considering that my Wife and I were the only one's in line, and we had to keep repeating our selves to the people making two Bagels with Cream Cheese. If it wasn't for the fact that we wanted something to eat at the time, we would of gone somewhere else. The two people working behind the counter really didn't understand English too well, that's why we had to keep repeating the order to them. Then there's paying for our stuff. We had to wait for someone to come to the register to ring up our orders, plus get some Bagels for this morning. He was alright about it, the someone else took over for him and it just went down hill. It was like we were bothering her for our orders, and probrably wished she was somewhere else. As for the prices, should of gone across the street to Shoppers, or someother supermarket where the prices are a lot cheaper for 'Specialty Bagels'. A lot of the local supermarkets charge not even $.80 for a Bagel. This is a ripoff for the Bagels you get here. Everything for 6 Bagels, a container of Cream Cheese came to over $14.00 and change! Will not be coming here again! Come here if you feel that you need to have your money ripped off of you and you are not worried about paying too much for Bagels, Coffee, and Cream Cheese, and everything else that they sell here. I guess the truck came, but the unacknowledged wait of nearly ten minutes was ridiculous, so I walked out. Perhaps that's a new strategy to keep things in stock? Frustrate customers so they walk out without ordering anything? The staff are pleasant enough, but it's clear that they have no managerial support, or competent management. It's perpetually understaffed, and usually without many types of bagels and other menu items. This is not Russ & Daughters where a wait is well worth your time. This is a national franchise chain with program food in a suburban location that either has nothing in stock and a wait, or items in stock and a wait. Frustrated. We've used this location a number of times and the service has steadily gone down hill. The bagels are good - but other places also have good bagels. The lack of good service has sent us packing for future orders. The last time we ordered a large delivery order through their catering department, they forgot the knives. This past Saturday we had placed another large delivery order in advance and reminded them that they forgot the knives the last time. We were assured that they would not forget them this time. Well wouldn't ya know...they forgot the knives AND plates! We're serving 45-ish people - all with no knives for the cream cheese. Come on, Einstein! We also requested that they update our contact information and email address so that the receipt would be sent to the correct person. Kristin failed to do this for us. They have lost our future business. We order for 45 people about six times a year. Again - things have gone down hill with no apology - no recovery - no discount. I always get the VegOut sandwich here because my wife loves it. Unfortunately, to get it, I need to battle with the einstein bros staff at this branch. I get charged $6.75 for a VegOut bagel when the sign says its $5.99, because they "don't have a way to charge $5.99" on their cash register. How is that my problem? And the guy at the cash register should not be in the service industry, dealing with people. He hates people, at least from the look on his face. Or he hates his life and everyone that comes into contact with it. If this was India I would say he must be the owner's son or he wouldn't be able to get away with this attitude to his customers. Who knows, maybe he is? It seems like most of the staff believe this establishment would be a better place to work if only the customers would stop coming. So rude and unpleasant at 6:30 in the morning (when I can least handle unpleasantness). And, $6 Mondays are now $7 Mondays (i.e., get 13 bagels for $7, spreads not included, and cannot use Woodson band discount card). The bagels are actually pretty good. Not H&H quality, but probably as good as it gets outside of NYC. Tip: If you immediately slice and freeze any extras, they'll stay fresh (to thaw/toast: bake them in a toaster oven at 300 degrees for 4 minutes, cut side down against the wire rack, don't thaw before baking). ETA: The following week I went back a little later in the morning (9:30) and this time owner wasn't working the counter. I used to work at an Einstein Bagel YEARS ago, and going into this place makes me feel sickened. Our store was always under strict supervision and it was immaculate. This store is really awful, the floors are disastrous, it has the worst layout ever. The line is always wrapping around the front entrance - you see about 9 or 10 employees but only two actually helping customers. The cashier area is all haphazardly thrown together, crumbs and dirt everywhere. The cookies tend to be stale (the ones sold at the registers). I went this past Sunday again (I had gone for breakfast once before) for lunch and was amazed that a turkey sandwich costs nearly $9. I could make that at home! The bagels themselves are always tasting very good, but the service and cleanliness is terrible. This store needs a complete overhaul and redesign. It has no flow for a line. If I ever go again, it won't be during a breakfast rush and I'll prefer to get my food to go. read more

Okay, the bagels rock--delightfully unhealthy that they are--but the service sucks. My personal faves are either teh honey wheat bagel with peanut butter or reduced fat cream cheese and lox, or the deliciously carb heavy sesame seed bagel with honey almond cream cheese. My issue is the staff who are apparently unaware of the basic tenets of customer service. Make eye contact with your patrons and don't act that it's a chore to wait on them. I once asked if my bagel could be cut in two pieces and by the expression on this woman's face, you would have thought I had asked her for a kidney. Unfortunately, I don't see the attitude changing anytime in the near future. Since it is the ONLY Einstein in the area (RIP Merrifield franchise; they weren't perfect, but they seemed to value my business) and every time I go there the place is packed with suburban sheep and their spawn. That being said, I will probably return as well, but I'd really love to see someone give these yahoos some competition. If a Panera opened up within 1/4 of a mile, or better yet, another Einstein franchise; these losers would be toast. read more

I've gone here a few times for breakfast. It's located in the Fair City strip malls-- however, it is not a part of the strip, but rather a building that stands alone in the parking lot in front of Total Wine, CVS, and Trader Joe's. Obviously this place is a chain, they provide bagels, "healthy" snacks, and breakfast sandwiches. I usually get the Power Bagel or the Everything Bagel (somehow I feel I am making a somewhat healthy breakfast choice?) and those are always delicious. I have noticed that they are often out of their cheese and wheat bagels--not sure if this is due to those being the local favorite or a sign of them lacking. Tip: I like cream cheese as much as the next person. I have found they charge you WAY too much for it though. Usually I buy a tub of their cream cheese sitting in the freezer, and then put it on myself. I have realized I always want way less than they give me, and the tub lasts a long time. (I have used the spread on about 8 bagels and 1 sandwich already, with STILL some left). It can save you money in the grand scheme of things. The workers there are a little rude-- they have been impatient (when I am deciding on my order) or ignore me (I stood there once for a while before they asked my order). But the restaurant is surprising clean, the tables are wiped down and the silverware and napkin counter isn't a mess-- and the bagels are still as delicious as any other Einstein's chain. If you are trying to save money, swing by the Shoppers a few feet away and buy an entire PACK of bagels for the same price as one sold here. read more

We love Einsteins, but not this one. Einsteins was part of our breakfast stops in Barrington, IL for years but this one in Fairfax needs a massive makeover - both in restaurant and staffing. Every time we have visited (5-10) times, it has been dirty. The tables were not wiped down between guests and never have I seen any employee working in the dining area. I can understand during peak times, but not during slower times. Staff has made mistakes on our past two orders. Bagel and shmear. Simple. Got bagel, no shmear. In the past few months this place has improved drastically. I have noticed the wait time for food has definitely gotten shorter and the employees are much friendlier! I love bringing my family here. Stopped here for breakfast this morning. Ordered a toasted gourmet bagel with veggie cream cheese. The lady begins the counter then proceeded to take the order of the person behind me. I watch as she is about to put smear on my untoasted bagel. I mentioned how I asked for it toasted (which she promptly does). Once I receive my order, I check it before I go. It has regular plain cream cheese. I had to wait while she toasted a new bagel. I added a star because they fixed my order, but she didn't save any time taking two people's orders. Whenever the Beltway traffic is OOC (out of control), I sneak down LIttle River Turnpike to get where I need to be for work. This Einstein Bros. is in the perfect spot for me to stop and wake my ass up with some "darn good coffee". Though Einstein Bros. may not be the *best* of bagel shops (thus a chain), it wins my vote because they now offer Bagel Thins (a mere 225 calories w/ light cream cheese!). I LOVE bagel thins because I can get my bagel fix without throwing back 500 calories worth of carbs at 8am. Also, Einstein Bros. has the best Winter Blend coffee...smooth with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. DAMN, is it good! Absolutely terrible. Would rate zero stars if possible. Slow "service", rude employees, and the bathrooms are the grossest thing you'll ever come across (unless you're accustomed to wearing a haz mat suit daily, don't enter!!) At 10:20 am on a Saturday morning, the store was packed and only 4 employees at work. Completely overwhelmed (one cashier, clearly brand new, didn't even know how to operate the cash register properly), two at the "oven" and one attempting to clean up after everyone (in vain). This place is dirty, and after waiting an exorbitant amount of time (30 minutes, for two bagels and two coffees!!), we received the wrong items as part of our order. Will never be back. Freshly made bagels and their hot coffee hit the spot. I liked the varying bagel sandwich choices and scrumptious looking desserts. This location does need a deep carpet clean and should replace its worn looking tables and chairs so one star off. Otherwise, it was neat and tidy. I saw someone sweeping and wiping tables periodically in the 2 hours I was there using their wifi. The area near the restrooms is a little chillier than the rest of the place so bring a sweater. It's a nice spot to hang out for a while alone or with friends, before or after shopping or studying. read more

Upon ordering, the cashier's personal cell phone went off and she answered it. She left after charging my card and forgot to give me my coffee cup. This place used to be great, but has gone downhill since 2 years ago. I used to go here all the time, it being nearby. The food and service used to be pretty decent. However, all that has changed: First of all, they always ran out of my favorite (Cinnamon Raisin) by 1pm or so, and will not refill it, even though the store stays open until 5pm. Second, they stopped stocking up the "Blueberry" spread, because "it's out of season". Third, the workers are overworked and understaffed. The wait is long and the atmosphere uncomfortable. I don't think I've ever left a yelp review before, but today, I felt compelled. I've visited this bagel shop for three weeks now, and they consistently run out of everything their customers want. I've watched as customer after customer asks for things that they don't have. They've run out of everything bagels, they've run out of plain bagels. They've run out of chocolate chip bagels. There is no chive cream cheese. Want coffee? Oh sorry, we need to brew some more. Oh - you wanted a LARGE coffee? We don't have large cups. WHAT? This place is ripe for a business school student's efficiency review. Bottom line: bagels are fine, just don't go and expect to getthe kind you want. UPDATE: Stopped in again this morning to see if things have gotten better, and somewhat unbelievably the service was actually worse. The line was wrapped around the inside and out the door. I was 14th in line. In 10 minutes, the folks behind the counter did not speak to a customer once. Over 10 people arrived, stood in line and surveyed the situation, and left. I did the same. I couldn't even calculate how long it would have taken then to get to me in line - is "eternity" an option? I order Einstein's for catered lunches every once and a while. I like to order their lunch spread because it comes with a couple great salads and a little bit of everything to please a crowd. One salad in the spread is a Chipotle Chicken Salad and the other is the Harvest Chicken Salad. Both are really good. The Harvest chicken comes with lots of fresh fruit and the Chipotle chicken is more of a southwestern salad with a tangy dressing. I am not a huge fan of the sandwich selection. I would prefer it if the lunch spread had more sandwich options. Also, they always put too much sauce on the sandwiches, making them soggy. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of the sauce either. I wish they would just serve them without sauce. The cookies are great and always go really quickly. I will keep ordering from them because I like that they deliver and have online ordering, but I think they could use some improvements. read more
