I get bagels here at least twice a month to bring into work. Each time I say I really need the bagel sliced and I need a few plastic knives. At least half the time I get to work and the bagels aren't sliced or I don't have knives. I've started pulling over in the parking lot after going through the drive-through to check. But today I checked for sliced and I thought I saw knives with the napkins. Nope when I got to work, no knives. The worse service is ever. I will never go back to an Einstein again. Where I live we don't have them. I was excited to see it close to where we are traveling through. Stopped in for a bagel and decided to get a half dozen to have some at home. Asked them to please toast one I could eat why driving. They took my money and of course tip I gave them and then refused to toast a bagel for me. Shoved the bag at me and said "sorry policy" but had not problem taking my money. Basically "deal with it". I was so upset and offended I went back in and said just give me my money back. They did and of course kept the tip I gave them. A tip for taking bagels out of a basket and putting in a bag. I noticed the manager stood in the corner barking out orders to employees but would not come over and speak to me even though she was 50 feet away. Not worth your time or money. Ehhhh. Maybe I'll stick to just regular bagels and spreads here. I got the Nova Lox which had cream cheese, red onions, capers, tomato and smoked salmon. I had a fair amount of salmon on there, but the red onion was so thick and overpowering that I had to take some out. It was a little difficult to eat as everything would just fall off. The boyfriend had the southwest egg white sandwich with turkey sausage, pepper jack, and tomatillo salsa. There wasn't much sausage in it. (We've been to the other one on Riverside that ones great, they even have raw sugar which we use). When we asked for the raw sugar the answer was 'we don't have that'. My wife, my two children, and I were leaving for the weekend and decided to stop at the Cool Springs Einstein's on our way out of town. We come here often because we enjoy the food and they are usually consistent with their quality control. Unfortunately, there was nothing quality or controlled about the events that followed. We ordered and pulled to the window and were met by an elderly woman who was most likely the manager. My wife handed her our card and she refused to take it stating, "We don't touch cards. Please use the machine yourself." We were taken aback because we come to this store multiple times a week and we had never experienced this before. We were there the day before and they took our card like they always do. Now, as eye rolling as it is to have some mall cop like this decide to cash in her "Fifteen minutes of Authoritarian Fun" ticket on us that morning, it isn't something I would write a review about. It's what followed that is review-worthy. Since we were going on a long trip, my wife took the first shift driving our truck because she's more of a morning person than I am. Problem is, she's not used to driving this truck so she parked us too far from the card reader for her to reach it but too close to open the door and get out. We had a number of cars behind us so we couldn't back up and get closer. Considering the employees have disposable gloves and she is the manager, we assumed she would recognize the current situation and make an exception and take our card. After all, they seem to have been making these 'exceptions' for the duration of this pandemic. My wife said to the woman, "I was here yesterday and they took my card like they always do. Can you help us out here?" The woman flatly refused. "Well I don't know what you want us to do because we can't reach and you won't take our card," my wife said. "I'm sorry, I can't help you," said the woman. It's fair to say that we have all experienced a situation like this at some point in our lives where the wrong person is given a position of power and relishes that power a little too much. That was the case here. This woman was not going to budge. We wanted to pay for our food and get on the road but General Custer decided she was going to make her last stand. My wife said to the woman, "this is really ridiculous. You're really just going to stand there and not take our card?" "We can't take your card, she replied." So my wife contorted her body in a way I haven't seen in many years (the one bright spot of the experience) and managed to use some Olympic level acrobatic maneuver to get the card in the slot while the woman watched, stone faced. I watched the whole ordeal and said, "you know this isn't the way you treat a customer." She didn't like that very much so she told us she would not be serving us and yelled loudly for her staff to cancel our order. She then TOOK THE CARD OUT OF THE READER and tossed it at my wife and asked us to leave. Hypocrisy. I have never been refused service anywhere ever until today. Naturally, this infuriated me and we pulled the car out and I went into the store to chat face to face about it without a sea of cars behind us in the drive through. The woman then claimed that my wife cursed at her and used the "F-word." This infuriated me even further because not only does my wife not use profanity, my kids and I witnessed the whole exchange and there was absolutely no profanity spoken. "What did she say?" I asked. She claimed my wife said 'get your ****ing s*** together' to her which was a defamatory and slanderous lie. I couldn't believe my ears. I went to the truck and told my wife and she looked shocked and began to cry because she couldn't believe someone would accuse her of something like that. We were going to leave but my wife was so upset that she wanted to speak to the woman herself about the accusation. She went into the store and asked the woman to show her the video footage of her cursing. She refused and told my wife she was calling the police. This is a bagel shop, folks. Covid is making everyone crazy. We both feel violated and have that ugly feeling everyone has experienced at some point in their lives when some sort of injustice occurs and you can't do anything about it. We are obviously done going there but it's not like they will care. The only thing I can do is use my words to make people aware of what happened. I will write this review and I will write one on Yelp. I will report them to the Better Business Bureau and I will file a complaint with their corporate office. I will tell all of my friends that go there about this experience and I will share it on social media if need be. Will it make a difference? Probably not. But I will use my words nonetheless. The old adage has always been that "the customer is always right." Not so with Einstein's. So if this customer isn't always right, he can always write all about it on the internet. read more

I got a cold bagel that hadn't been toasted and a paper cup with ice water I was charged $2 for Dasani water, only to get tap water that tasted like the paper cup it was served in. I usually like their bagels. But their service has been terrible. They act bothered to help you or take your order. I was there yesterday and used a gift card for my order. She swiped it and said nothing was on the card and was about to throw it away. I asked to keep the card and I paid cash. I later looked up the gift card and there was still $10 on it. I then used the card at the other location and encountered rude service there as well. She was irritated that she had to type in the gift card number because it would not swipe. She literally said "I can't deal with this today." It is too bad that they feel typing in a gift card number is too taxing on them. So, warning to anyone using a gift card. First, they ran out of Cheddar cheese which I think is a bit ridiculous from a bagel shop...in any restaurant you want to make sure every customer is satisfied. Rude elderly lady at the drive thru. Don't change your drink to iced as it's a hassle and worth an eye roll. She literally yelled "she wants it iced now" and tells me it's gonna be a couple minutes. Worst customer service ever. I got to the drive thru at 4:50pm and sat for 5 min waiting for someone to take my order. Finally gave up, parked and went inside. Phone said 4:56pm but as I walked to the counter someone rudely told me "we are closed". I said I thought closing time was 5pm and I just wanted a quick bagel but she said "our clock says 5:01". Clearly their clock is wrong but there were also 3 other people still in there eating. I am 8 months pregnant and was starving so considered that maybe it was not the best time to assess their customer service but these other reviews confirm that it is indeed terrible. read more

Bagels are decent. Bagel sandwiches are sad and processed. The fruit smoothie is 100% sugar. And the staff are mostly kids. We bought a half dozen bagels and a tub of shmear for $8.99 or you can buy 1 bagel with shmear for $3.29. Easy math for me for a small family of 3. When asking if they can toast 2 of the 6 bagels they said that since we bought a "pack" of bagels they couldn't toast them due to the time commitment. Mind you we were the only ones in the counter line. Even after we asked for the bagels to be sliced we got an eye roll and not so much of an acknowledgement of our patronage. I don't work far from here so it's very easy to just walk over and grab a coffee in the morning. I don't know if it's just me...but their service has been on a constant decline for the past year. I have noticed there has been a complete change of employees but geez, the people that work there now are not happy that they are working there!
