I was looking for an onion bagel. The fresh ones with big pieces of onion. Yum. This was not it. While the bagels were soft and fresh, the onion bagel was a let down. This place is one of the better run EBB I have been to. The menu is mostly the same as others. I like the Nova Lox or the French Toast. The best thing this location has going for it is it's stellar staff. They set his place apart from all the other locations I have been to. If I could no stars I would, it was that bad. Customer service sucked and there was literally a few customers at peak morning hour. I came in with my girlfriend to get our bagels . This is usually our go to place for a quick morning breakfast, it all ended today. No one looked happy to be there at all! Dunno what happen to existing employees or management a month ago but it's a totally different place. You lost two good paying customers because she had to go back in twice. ONCE for my Burnt/black bagel which I paid extra for because it was high-end and not the regular style. Slow service + No bagels!! Arrived to the establishment shortly after 9 AM. 2 team members, maybe 10 people sitting down inside, only one other guest in line. I ordered the farmhouse bagel. Asked for an everything bagel.... we're out. Ok, I'll take a jalapeño cheddar bagel, out of that too. Just give me an onion bagel, sorry don't have those either!!! Now I'm frustrated so I say just give me whatever bagel you actually have. Paid my bill. Walked across street to Starbucks to get coffee because I was afraid to ask for anything else. So, Einstein really has good bones. It has an excellent location. It has an excellent core product (bagels) The facility is large, with outdoor seating to boot! I don't know what their daily/weekly volume is, but every time I've come here it's mostly empty. I have my suspicions but again, I have no idea what the place is like during peak hours. Let's start with the basics, I really enjoy their bagels. Being from North Central New Jersey, my bagel standards are exceptionally high. So, they aren't "Jersey" good. No, I haven't found anything south of the Mason Dixon line that can compare to the original. However, I've become rather fond of some of our southern baked cousins. They aren't as chewy, they aren't as big, but some iterations are pretty good in their own right. I became a fan of Einstein when Target carried them. I would buy a few everything bagels and some original spread which is like a softened cream cheese for breakfast at work. Wow, I miss those days! Unfortunately like everyone else if I want Einstein, I'm heading to Riverside. Problem is, it's not "destination good" I find myself there when I'm in the area for some other reason. (Hint, Hint- start retailing them in Target again) I generally order a bacon egg and cheese everything bagel sandwich. It comes with a side, I choose potato salad. The sandwich is good, so is the potato salad! The have a plethora of drink options from teas to coffees as well as bottled drinks and a traditional fountain drink set up. My wife typically gets the Pizza Bagel, she really likes that, her favorite is having it on a jalapeño cheese bagel. (No wonder her blood pressure is high) Every time we come in it's the same. Good I guess if, your goal is consistency. The problem there in lies the low hanging fruit. The obvious becomes oblivious. Clean, clean clean clean. Please clean, wipe up and tend to the restaurant and the bathrooms. It's always wet sloppy and unkept. I watch associates completely oblivious to the idea of grabbing a rag and wiping surfaces, tables etc. it aggravates me to spend an hour in a restaurant and see the same puddles and splatters around the beverage area when I leave as when I came in, especially when the place is mostly empty. Summary, decent bagels. Restaurant execution is very average. I think that perhaps is why they aren't busier. The locals probably feel the same way. Just clean up a little more.... read more

During our recent 'state-cation' in Clearwater Beach and in search of breakfast as we drive back to J-Ville, we opt for E.B.B. It was FABULOUS! My sis and I are NY-er's and as you know we BLEED BAGELS and a good SHMEAR! Oddly enough we have never visited our local E.B.B. and had no idea of what they were throwing down regarding yummy edibles. I'm now sourcing our local E.B.B. and I'm sad to see that only 2 remain. Neither location is convenient to me for a daily to-go visit. I decide this will be my end of the work week reward...who am I kidding, I'm a manager...the work week never ends....I NEED A BAGEL....NOW! My first local visit - last week. I get up extra early to secure my morning culinary delight. The closest store opens @ 5a. This store is in the opposite direction of my work place....and to think I used to work right down the street from them 7 years ago...sheesh! I arrive around 6:15a. The store is empty and this shouldn't take long. I ordered the Nova Lox. #yesLAWD! The wait time was reasonable and I'm out the door.....thanks! I arrive to work happy as a clam because I have my scrumptious breakfast. Once at my desk I get ready to dig in.....whaaaattttt is this? My order was correct...but on the skimpy side. #lessisnotmore My shmear was almost non-existent...like a mear-shmear-miss. The capers were dry...like please makes sure they are submerged in the life fluid brine liquid. The onions received no love when tossed on top of my order.....looking like they're drunk.....sigh! The salmon was not the star of this culinary mishap, lacking much needed salt. I'm flabbergasted the curing process was an epic fail. 2nd local visit - 8/6/18. I decided to make today my Friday treat day and return to E.B.B. This time I will give specifics regarding my order. Results.....100% - #YAY! However.....there were a couple of hiccups with this visit. I included a snickerdoodle cookie with my order. Made sure the cashier included it in my total....get to work...where's my cookie? The cashier also explained to me about their survey, encouraging me to participate to receive a $1.00 discount on my next order. #yesabargain Houston....we have a problem! I did not receive a survey. I received the surveys for the 2 previous guests (William and "girl") #Oye And finally.....during both visits associates failed to ask for my phone number (Shmear Society member) The associate stated I could give that information when @ the cashier. Nope. Didn't happen again. C'mon ya'll....you carry out the mandatories. On a positive note I called about my missing cookie (it was for a co-worker who adores snickerdoodles) Cheryl answered. Four stars for their Monday Deal. A dozen for $6. Soft, tasty and fresh. Although I'm supposed to be swearing off carbs, I do love a fresh bagel. Pair that with a good deal and it's "SOLD!" The staff isn't always friendly but at 6am, on a bitter cold morning, I might not be all smiles and giggles either. Luckily they have decent coffee. it's a bagel. It's not fancy or elaborate. This location used to be on point. I dunno what happened. The staff is aloof at best except for the one guy with the beard who seems too overworked to be expected to carry it all. This morning the cashier wasn't attentive to waiting customers and took forever to do anything she was doing despite the growing number of customers waiting without so much as decent acknowledgment. There was another girl behind the counter who seemed to just be wandering around not really knowing what to do. I suppose she might have been there to help prep orders. When slow girl finally took my order she was pleasant enough and the process seemed to move along at a normal pace. I finally got my sandwich from the prep girl and went on my way. It wasn't until I got a few minutes away that I realized my sandwich was cold. Chicken, cheese... Ice cold. So I take it back and they change it out for me without complaint. I decide to eat in and the first few bites were ok but then I reached more cold meat. I dunno if there's something up with their oven but I barely got thru half my replacement sandwich before I just stopped eating for fear of food poisoning. This sort of half ass service has been going on for a while. Wrong orders, standoffish or just straight rude staff, lazy attitudes... I think I'm done giving them chances. This is my quiet protest. Teetering on 4 stars, Einstein far surpasses Panera Bread's dense bagels but isn't quite as good as mom 'n pop bagel shops. The coffee's hot and the vanilla hazelnut's a favorite. The clever thin Bagel Thins are worth checking out with cream cheese or various toppings, as a less carby way to enjoy breakfast. I love the everything bagel thin. Einstein's Riverside location is key - big windows overlooking Memorial Park and part of 5 Points and Riverside? I love stopping in after a run or meeting friends on the weekend and sitting outside (it's dog-friendly outside). Tip: Friday morning the line for coffee or breakfast is often lengthy due to people picking up dozens of bagels (literally) to share with their bagel-loving office/co-workers. read more

Food is pretty good. Not many choices for veggie but doable. Staff is friendly and working hard. It was super busy, which is great for them. Never seen it this busy. But there was one person working with the food complaining about how busy it was. Little comments here and there. The other coworkers didn't play into it or join in. Customers shouldn't have to hear workers getting frustrated. None of the customers were mad, frustrated, or complaining about having to wait for food. They have a new honey lox sandwich that I haven't tried yet. This is a chain place and I used to also go to one in Chicago.
