Einstein bagels usually does a kick ass job with my bagel! i get the same thing every week, asiago bagel with herbivore toppings... they normally slice the cucumber and lay it neatly on top of my bagel. today, however, i was served a bagel that was mediocre at best. i literally have a huge chunk of cucumber sitting on top of my bagel. no care from the man who made it, obviously. i don't appreciate the laziness that seems to be becoming more and more apparent. get your shit together, guys. read more

Came in for a great bagel and coffee and it turned out to be a bad experience due to a man that came in with 2 uncontrolled children (if you can call them that) The one fell on the floor and was screaming and the father walked away and smiled and DID NOTHING to control him. It kept up till we said something and another couple called my husband an asshole for speaking up. We left and may NOT go back. It is time establishments did something to people who do not control the little ones. Either tell them to control the child or leave. DONE with it. Good food but the current hiring issues, or more specifically here the lack of employees make getting a quick bite to eat easily a minimum 30-40 minute wait. If you are unfortunate to get caught in the drive thru expect a long wait time. Gas ain't cheap these days to be idling for so long. Einstein Bros Bagels is a nice addition to the restaurant choices in Reno. The bagels I had were pretty nice. This restaurant is formally scheduled to open on Tuesday in the location of the former Krispy Kreme, so I guessed there would be a soft opening on the Monday before. I drove down there and saw people inside the store and people walking out with bags and I figured I had guessed correctly. I parked and walked up to the door when I saw a sign that said there was training going on and only people with invitations would be admitted. I had no invitation and turned to walk away. An employee opened the door and invited me in any way. Cool. I went to the end of the counter where yo place your order. They have a glass counter with baskets of bagels on the bottom rows -- I counted 23 different bagels -- and the top row has muffins and cookies. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast bagel on a Florentine spinach bagel. I wanted to try a second bagel, so I ordered an Asiago cheese bagel toasted with butter. I also ordered a decaf coffee. There's a display with items like orange juice and cream cheese and then you reach the cash register. They rang me up. The bill came to $9.56. I pulled out a $20 bill to pay and the employee behind the register said breakfast was free this morning. So in the interest of full disclosure, I came on what was considered a training day and I got my meal for free. I feel kind of bad now though for ordering that second bagel. They make espresso and cappuccino but the drip coffee is self serve. They also have small cups next to the coffee pots so you can sample the different flavors. I only drink decaf so I had only one choice. The place was packed but I found one table open. I sat down and after a few minutes they brought my food to my table. The bacon, egg and cheese was an excellent match for the spinach bagel. It was like a bagel omelet. The spinach had nice flavor, the bagel crust was crispy and I also liked the cheddar cheese. The best part was the bacon. Not a lot of it but it's first-rate bacon. The weak part was the egg. It doesn't taste like they use fresh eggs. The Asiago bagel was toasted but came without butter. Since it was free I wasn't going to complain. Also a good bagel, but I wished I had ordered something like an everything bagel for more interesting flavors. The coffee was pretty standard drip coffee. They seem to trying to create a friendly atmosphere there. Employees wore shirts with sayings like "Protect your bagels. Put lox on them" or "Donuts schmonuts. Eat a bagel." People are inevitably going to compare any bagel with the best bagels in New York and that's not fair. I couldn't find a New York-quality bagel in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles or San Francisco. The Einstein Bros bagels I had today were pretty good, though, and I suspect they will succeed in Reno. read more

Yeah as a Brooklyn gal, self proclaimed bagel expert I love me an Einstein's Bagels. Why? The bagels are good. The service is always friendly. The box of bagels and cream cheese are reasonable prices. But does that really make it 5-stars. Not really but what gives it that rating in my book are the bagel thins - I think they call them a Thintastic Bagels. They offer many Weight Watcher (when I'm watching) friendly breakfast sandwiches. I just like a thin bagel sometimes! I usually grab. 1/2 dozen to keep them in my freezer. Tons of seating options -- bar seating with a view is the parking lot, tables of various sizes, two outdoor seating areas. It's a chain so service might be spotty but I've never experienced bad service. Be kind to people in training. read more

Stopped in on Sunday with two others. The line was short. The service was quick and polite. Fresh jalapeño bagels just came out. The bagel was very good. I added bacon because that is what one does. The bacon was the kind of microwaved stuff that you get from many chains. I was hoping for better. Limp, thin, and not appealing. I know it is hard to make a profit with food costs. I would have loved the option for "real bacon" instead of the stuff that comes on large sheets of white paper and goes into a convection oven or the like. My partners enjoyed their lox and sandwich bagels. The coffee was hot and tasted fine for the price. Good for a quick bite but for my money I would head over to 4th St and support a local place. read more

Update: They must have changed the recipe on the egg in the breakfast sandwiches. The consistency was just plain fast food, now it is actually tolerable. Einstein Brother's bagels are not much more than a chewy bread substitute, a notch better than frozen Leonard's Bagels, but not by much. They barely hold up to cream cheese being spread over their limp surface. A bagel should be much more substantial. It should be dense and satisfying. Alas the long wait for this new franchise to open was a big disappointment. It took four months to open their doors after their sign went up. Little Jewish grannies are turning in their graves at such a travesty. Einstein Brother's bagels fail to satisfy my yearning for a true New York City bagel. read more

First of all, don't go here if you have any kind of time constraints, seriously don't. These guys are in no hurry, especially at the drive thru. I went for lunch today, and it took me almost 20 minutes in the drive-thru line, and there were only 3 cars ahead of me! Also I think they've messed up my order or left something out every time (chips AND pickle today)! Plus I got some sort of spinach bagel (only because they were out of my first 2 choices, at 12:00) and it was raw on top under the not so delicious topping. For $13 and 20 minutes of my lunch break, I expect a little more. I keep going back because I want to believe they'll get it right eventually. But I think I'll save this place for a leisurely breakfast stop instead of giving them another chance at messing up my lunch. read more

Okay. This place is like a bi-polar roller coaster ride. Some days this place is awesome but more often than not they screw something up. One time I went through the drivethrough and got a hotdog wrapped in a bagel and when I got home (15 miles away) and pulled out the hot dog it was FROZEN!!!! WTF! They literally forgot to cook it. Luckly I own an oven and put it in there to cook the thing. Today I left work and went and got a Green Chile bagel, toasted with the Roasted Red Pepper cream cheese. I get back to work and the fricken center of the bagel was raw!!!! Of course I can't leave work because I wasted a bunch of time going and getting the bagel to begin with, therefore, I'm screwed. Moral of the story... Either get your food and eat it there so that when they screw it up you can make them fix it or roll the dice and get screwed! read more

I would give this place 5 stars when they first open but it seems to get worst and worst. The prices haven't changed but the portions of our favorite Lox, gets smaller and smaller and 2 out of the last 3 times we went and ask for extra pickle, we got none or 1 out of 2 orders. So they were out of their everything bagel. My wife will not stand up for that and I won't either because of the punishment I'll receive for not bringing her back what she wanted. So... -1 star for smaller portions. -1 star for the wraith I'm going to receive from my wife for missing items. Still the bagels are tasty and the cream cheese are to die for. read more

I usually avoid any new place in town for the first month or two cause I don't want to be one of the sheep that shows up for the grand opening. (anyone remember Krispy Kreme?) So while out with the family running errands, we stopped in about 2:00 pm on a Saturday. The place was about 1/3 full and we got in a short line and ordered bagel bites, a spinach Florentine bagel, a pizza bagel and coffee. Then you move down to another register to pay. The food came out quick and the coffee was self serve. I had the Florentine bagel and it was best bagel I've ever had in Reno. The only other memorable bagel was from a place called Noah's in Burlingame, and that was about ten years ago. My boys shared the pizza bagel and they said it was good. The coffee was pretty decent and really hot, and of course you could drink as much as you want. I checked out the panini's and other sandwiches that were listed on the menu, and will probably come back for a complete lunch. I think that since they offer more than just bagels on the menu, they should easily outlast the Krispy Kreme lease. read more

I've never really liked bagels, but after having one of Einsteins bagels from my aunts freezer I was hooked. We went to restock, as I had eaten the last green chili bagel. The variety of bagels is great, but my favorite is the green chili and jalapeno bagels, but that could change after I've tried the other flavors. I was so disappointed. Waited awhile to try this place out to avoid the crowds. But this this place is still popular, seating area pretty was still crowed. I love bagels and couldn't wait to take my husband here for breakfast. All we ordered was two breakfast bagels sandwiches and orange juice and a cup for water. We get our food and our bagels were so small, they looked bigger in the display. It tasted fine, just very small for the price we paid. I will say though they have a nice selection of coffee I got a coffee to go and it was a special blend that was pretty tasty. But I don't think I will be eating here anytime soon. This place is great. We went in this AM for a quick breakfast and were quite glad we did. First of all, they've really done up the old Krispy Kreme location. Its great. Lots of seating, etc. Second, AWESOME customer service. This place was packed at 10:30 and they had folks out with those remote order devices they use at in n out taking orders. Very friendly folks. The cashier was awesome when I added another coffee at the register too. Easy as pie. Great coffee here. The neighborhood blend is bold and flavorful, although it was a touch too hot. Had to let mine cool a bit before drinking. Wife had a french roast, which has a really unique smokey flavor. Really good. As for the food--I tried one of their light bagel sandwiches. Had turkey sausage and egg whites on a everything bagel sandwich. It was amazing. It comes with salsa, which is just fan-freaking-tasting. When I unwrapped the package, I was hit by this wonderful tangy aroma of tomatoes and spices. The salsa tasted even better than it smelt. Just awesome. It really worked with the turkey sausage and the varied flavors of the everything bagel. And just 240 calories. Fabulous! Overall, we were very happy with our first stop here and will definitely be back. Can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu! read more

We ordered through the drive-thru today and one of our sandwiches has sauce all over the wrapper, while the other one wasn't cut. My particular sandwich was supposed to be on a bagel thin but was given to me on a regular bagel as well. We had to eat these in the car, so these stupid mistakes made it difficult, and of course I was disappointed that my order was wrong. It also took forever to get our order and even though our drinks were ready, the cashier didn't hand them to us until our sandwiches were packaged. An attractive friendly young lady took my order, a handsome friendly guy took my money. The order came up quickly, so friendly efficient service, A-OK. I almost always order the same thing no matter the bagel shop I am in, a lox with onion, tomato and capers and of course cream cheese on a toasted bagel of choice. I kind of wonder, who gets the nice pieces of tomato and onion, sure as hell was not me. Not enough to cover even a quarter of each side of the open faced presentation. The smear off CC was so thin it bearly added any flavour and the lox was a small strip down the center of the bagel. The bagel it self was tasty and toasted just fine. This presentation made a decision for me... I will no matter where I am in Reno/Sparks drive to the Daily Bagel, they know how to make a decent lox and bagel where each bite has a bit of all the expected ingredients for that perfect bite. Einstein may have been brilliant, but this sure was not. read more

For a chain, this is a decent began shop. their bagels are always fresh! The staff is really friendly! My hubbs loves their coffee drinks! I always get one of their fresh juices, they always taste fresh and lovely! My only complaint is that 25% of the time they mess up my sandwich.( not miss one item on the sandwich, or add something that should not be on there.... But make the wrong menu item) and it's only my sandwich, not my hubbs, not my kiddos, just mine, and I don't even have to order it. But they are quick to make the right sandwich. And that has given me a chance to try the other sandwiches on the menu that I would or normally order. So yelpers my too to you... Check your sandwich when they bring it to your table! But enough of the negative! My hubb and I enjoy coming here. I would suggest it to my friends and family! read more

This location is pretty much on par with other Einstein locations I've been to. The same great menu items - the grab and go bucket with two tubs of cream cheese is always an office favorite, a nice variety of fresh bagels in all sorts of amazing flavors, and a good variety of cream cheese (my personal favorite is the salsa cream cheese!). I typically just get a toasted bagel with cream cheese, but on this occasion I decided to get a breakfast sandwich as my husband and I were heading out on a road trip. I got bacon, egg and cheese on an asiago bagel. The fillings were pretty standard for breakfast sandwiches, but it's the delicious bagel that takes this breakfast sandwich to the next level. I really wanted a spicy bagel, but they didn't have one on that day - so the asiago was a nice replacement. I was otherwise happy with their selection, I think they have something for everyone! On this particular occasion, I did find the staff to be pretty weak - very bored and uninterested, no smiling or cheerful greeting. And here's a tip, just in case management reads these reviews - I brought my own travel mug, and handed it to the clerk for a chai latte. The clerk making the drinks seemed confused by this, made my drink in a plastic cup, then poured it into my mug. The reason I bring a mug with me wherever I go is to do my part to reduce waste. (It also saves money for the restaurant!) Maybe some additional training on that is warranted! read more

These are proper East Coast bagels. My two favorite flavors are totally unheard of in the traditional sense of bagelry. I recommend that you try a pretzel bagel. It is salty on top with a brown soft crust, just like a soft pretzel. If you know of Raymond the Pretzel Man who sold bagels all over the Bronx and CCNY, that's what this bagel tastes like. It's one of Raymond's. I also like the potato bagel here. It has a nice crunchy top and has a bit of flour sprinkled on it. Soft, potato flavor to the flour. Heavenly. These bagels have made me forget about NY bagels because these are so good. read more

This is for the Kietzke Lane location. We have had trouble at this Einstein's before, incorrect orders, long waits with no apparent reason for them, and on one occasion I ordered a coffee with cream and got it with hazelnut creamer and the cashier told me it was impossible for that to happen and never even offered to replace it. But today's experience made me really cranky. We went to the drive-thru there were two cars ahead of us, I peeked inside and there were 3 or 4 customers inside waiting for orders so I figured the drive-thru might be quicker. We each ordered a toasted bagel with shmears, but I was told they were out of plain bagels, so I had to order something else. Then the wait began...20 minutes later we arrived at the pick up window and paid. We were handed a bag with two cold bagels. I told the cashier that the bagels were cold and he clearly got upset and said "That's just fine, I will get my manager" and left the window. We drove off with our cold bagels, I don't think I could have maintained my composure much longer and did not want to get in a shouting match with the staff. But really..no plain bagels? And you serve toasted bagels cold and get an attitude when the customer mentions it? Does Einstein's really require the intervention of a manager to either reheat or prepare new bagels? I emailed corporate, I don't need a comp for more bagels, but I would like to see an intervention for this dysfunctional store. read more

The place gets three stars for service. Literally every time I have come to this location the order I receive is slightly different and priced different, even though I am ordering the same thing every time. From different prices for substituting spread or sauce to different sizes of the coffee drinks, it's a surprise when I drive away from the window. That being said, I do love their Southwest Turkey bagel. I'm not a big fan of the green sauce on it so I ask for only a little; otherwise the bagel is spread thickly with it. I've not been charged and have been charged for substituting cream cheese in place of the green sauce. $1.50 extra for a dab more of cream cheese? Seems a bit ridiculous; but, I don't know their overhead. The days when I get a lower price are better. Otherwise, $6 for a thin bagel sandwich? Not so much. read more

First I will say I love their food, the food itself it 100% worth it. I'm almost addicted. however this location in the past several months went from maybe a 20-30 minute wait at their busiest to a drive through with 10 cars taking consistently 40mins plus. I type this after being in the drive through for an hour, and after realized the plain bagels toasted with cream cheese that I'm so addicted too cost close to 4$ now. This is absolutely absurd my recommendation go to Costco and buy 12 of their bagels and get some of their cream cheese, as a guy that has gone here close to once a week for over a year, I am unsure if I can continue to support these price increases, I understand we're mid pandemic and you guys need to make money but jeez this is almost criminal, I feel like you're genuinely stealing money, I waited over an hour for two plain bagels a coffee and smart water and got charge 19$ I don't even make that much in a hour I feel totally cheated and I'm sad because I really liked this place. I find it disappointing that this place is really the only bagel place in our area. Their intercom makes ordering difficult because it barely works, they're always out of something that we want to order, and they are slower than going to a sit down restaurant. In this trip they were out of everything bagels, out of regular cream cheese, and it took 20 minutes in the drive thru. I can't wait for the day that Panera Bread comes to Reno. read more

A caramel machiatto and a chocolate chip coffee cake from here are my favorite breakfast treats! My husband loves their breakfast sandwiches and both of my children devour Einstein Bros Bagels like they're going out of style. Staff is okay. Friendly but not great. Well at least not to customers. They're always giggling and chatting among themselves though. They definitely don't listen when you tell them your name for your order. Worse part? This place is FILTHY! There is never a clean table. Not that it would change the fact that they have year old nasty newspapers under every one to keep them from wobbling. Oh and unless you have a potty training toddler- don't go in the bathrooms!
