    Fresh chips and salsa

Me and my mom friends went for lunch and I was beyond excited to try the birria pizza I kept hearing about everywhere. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. We went at a good time, no crowd and no longer waiting at all. We got served chips and salsa as soon as the waiter came over to begin taking our orders. We all wanted the pizza so we shared because it was a good size. The pizza was just like everyone said it would be. Delicious and the touch of pizza sauce was delicious a surprise taste. I am definitely going back to get that and other items on the menu.

Good, and fast service to try on a short lunch break. I tried the steak tacos which were meaty and fulfilling. I enjoyed the many sauces available to try. Very nice people.

This particular Mexican restaurant is located in the same shopping plaza as the Winn-Dixie supermarket and was a decent enough spit to grab lunch. A client and I headed here for lunch. We got there just before one o'clock in the afternoon, so it appeared that we probably just missed the lunch crowd. Our server was extremely professional, outgoing, and friendly. Since birria was on the menu, we both went with birria dishes. My client had the birria quesadilla and I had a birria burrito. I will say, at least how it looked, my client got the better of our meals. The birria quesadillas looked amazing. Don't get me wrong, my birria burrito was definitely good, but that birria quesadills looked incredible. If you find yourself on the southside of Jacksonville, Florida and craving a Mexican meal, I would definitely recommend here.

I have to give the five stars to our server, Rorlando. His true commitment to ensuring client satisfaction goes beyond words. He truly cares about the experience and the quality of the food. We will definitely be back.

Usually when we go to this restaurant we get top notch service and amazing food. The service was still awesome. However, the food was a little lacking this time as the state was a little tough. The tortillas a little dry but overall still a great experience. I love the ambiance of the Mexican music and the motif around. Will return to this place again

He is such a nice guy!

I must of come on a bad day. The margarita, I could not drink it. It was horrible. The Mexican corn came to me cold. They reheated it, then it was delicious. The California burrito was dry. I forgot to ask about desserts. The Server/Cashier was very polite and kind. He gets 5 stars alone! The people in the kitchen just need to improve on the food. The drink machine that holds the drinks needs to be checked as well. I will do another review next time I go and I think it will be better. All of the other times I came here, all was excellent. Just a bad day.

Very friendly staff and owner came to check on us to made sure we have everything we need. This family owned place is very clean. The food we ordered was very delicious and the servings are large enough to share for 2 people.

We had actually planned on going to another restaurant, but due to a major menu change we ended up at the El Agave Azul. Good for us!! We each had something different and we loved what we got. The salsa and chips were tasty. I had the Taco Tuesday special, which meant I had three different tacos for the price of two. The margaritas were enjoyed by all. Only two flavors - but no complaints. They do a good take out business (observed), but we ate inside (outside seating available). The restaurant was clean. We all stated we would be coming back. We were impressed with the food - the authenticity of the flavors and freshness!

Food truck came to our area and blessed us with the opportunity to get some local treasures! By far some of the most authentic dishes that we have had. We wish that we would have bought more of the birria tacos !!! The Birria Consomé was so hearty, full -flavored, rich, and balanced! The meat was so tender in the taco and each lavish dunk into the sauce was like you want to savor the taste ! And bite again!

I went to El Agave Azul specifically to try the quesabirria taco. I also got a carne asada taco. I have been on a search for a great quesabirria taco in the city for a while and after seeing the great reviews for this place's birria taco and quesadilla, I was excited to try it. I ordered my food to go and added an agua fresca - Jamaica mixed with pina colada. They also had mango, strawberry watermelon, and lemonade agua frescas , along with horchata. My food was clearly made fresh and it was nice and hot. I ate it immediately in my car. The carne asada taco was solid. It needed a little more seasoning on the meat for me but adding the lime helped. Perhaps I should've gotten some salsas from the bar. The birria taco was alright. It did not have a great cheese pull to it and honestly, it could've benefited from a lot more cheese. Cheese is usually a prominent component of quesabirria and the tortilla is often quite crispy at other places that I've had it. While the tortilla held up to the meat, it certainly wasn't crispy. I'm giving four stars though as perhaps I was confused about whether or not this was supposed to be "quesabirria" or just a taco with birria and cheese as the menu just lists - birria taco. I'm glad that I tried El Agave Azul. Although the birria quesadilla and pizza are intriguing, I don't think I'll be back for more tacos.

I always base my Mexican deliciousness rating from their ceviche. But first I must say the salsa and guacamole were yummy and not spicy at all. I ordered the shrimp vehicle tostadas and was very happy. Also I liked that the server told me the sauce was spicy and if I wanted it on the side...yes please! I got 3 loaded toastadas with the ceviche, avocado tomatoes and onions. The tortillas were fried perfectly and I was very happy.

Hubby and I came here during dinner time on a Wednesday and were the only customers in the restaurant for a good 30 minutes. I think this place gets overlooked since it's right next to the Winn-Dixie (we live right around the corner and just recently learned about this place). This restaurant has cute decor inside and also offers an outside patio for events. The staff here are SO kind and the food came very quickly. I was intrigued when I saw a birria sandwich on the menu, so I ordered it. Wow it was massive! The bread is homemade, and there was so much meat on this sandwich. The best way I can describe it is a Mexican version of a Philly Cheesesteak. There's also avocado on this. This is definitely an entree that can be shared or saved for leftovers. It was amazing and I will definitely be back to order another! The strawberry watermelon Agua Fresca is also top tier! If you're in the Baymeadows area, I highly recommend stopping by!

Man, it was one of the best decisions I've made on the road lately! The food came out hot and fresh with that real homemade taste. The tacos were packed with flavor, the rice and beans were on point, and the portions were generous enough to fill up a hungry driver without breaking the bank. I went with the carne asada and it hit the spot perfectly - seasoned just right, not too greasy, and cooked tender. Service was quick and friendly, even when they were busy. The place has that classic hole-in-the-wall vibe (in the best way), nothing fancy but clean and welcoming. It felt like the kind of authentic spot locals would keep coming back to. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the parking can be a little tight for a big rig if you're not careful, and they don't have a ton of truck-friendly seating space. But the food more than makes up for it. If you're rolling through the area and craving real Mexican food, definitely stop in. I'll be back next time I'm in the neighborhood. ¡Muy bueno! -- Carlos, SemiTruckDriver

Like I don't know if it wasn't mixed well, or they heavy handed it, but I wasn't mad about it at all. The steak tacos were delicious and very flavorful. I'd get these again and again in heartbeat. Service at the bar was great. Food arrived faster than expected, but I had also got there as their night was winding down. My friends and I were originally going to eat here for Cinco de Mayo, but when I got there at 6:45, I was told it would be a 3.5 hour wait. They had a DJ outside pumping out fast and upbeat music for the party and an outside margarita stand for grab and go drinks. When I arrived back just after 9, I had told them to take us off the list. She informed me that they tried calling me. Nothing came through on my phone, but she did show her call log and sure enough, it showed they called me around 8:20. My friends and I probably would have stayed to eat here originally had we been given a more realistic wait time guesstimate. An hour and a half wait vs 3.5 hours is much more feasible. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. I've always enjoyed Anejo.

The floors were sticky and our shoes stuck to the floor. The women's restroom was out of order. The kiosks seem like a good idea but nobody there to ask questions or to get your drinks. If you can catch one of the two people working as they bring out orders you are lucky. The menus on the kiosks are pretty informative though and tell the ingredients for each item. Kiosk automatically adds 20% tip unless you change it. Considering you don't have any interaction with employees until they bring out your order other tipping options might apply. They cook to order which is nice except you don't get your drinks or your appetizers until it's your turn. There is a comment section to type no tomatoes or special instructions. Mine still came out with tomatoes but they promptly remade it for me. The food is pretty good. No complaints there other than having to remake one of my tacos. The chips and queso was pretty good. Chips were dusted with spices and served hot. We tried 6 different tacos and they were all very good. The tortillas were toasted on the grill which makes a big difference. You can get flour or corn tortillas. The chicken and steak were marinated before grilling and were big cubes and plentiful. The menu has a pretty big variety including a kids menu with chicken and fries. The last comment is their fountain machine for drinks. The coke tasted off. They may need to recalibrate it. Drinks are served in small clear throw away cups and the lids don't fit very well. Refills are hard to get. You have to wait for someone to come out of the back. If these small complaints don't bother you the food is very good.
