I was introduced to this lovely small restaurant this week as the guest of honor at my own surprise retirement party. The restaurant was decked in colorful flags and a patio "ocean-side" (really Saratoga Ave side) had colorful sun umbrellas to allow outdoor dining while shielding us from hot sun. The very personable owner had a stunning array of appetizers and favorite Mexican entrees ready and the food was delicious. Colorful alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages offered great options for all. One important and often overlooked detail was the immaculately clean bathroom. By far the best Mexican breakfast spot I've tried this year! I found this place on TikTok and have driven past it multiple times without noticing. So glad I stumbled upon this place. We dined in during breakfast time. There is so much variety in the menu here it was hard to pick just one plate. We ordered the Mexican Benedict and the Chilaquiles TriColor. I have no words!!! Both plates were delicious and the meats were seasoned so well. The chilaquiles had three different sauces and my favorite was the green sauce. The amount of flavor in every element of the dish complimented each other. As far as the Mexican Benedict, the chorizo and picked onion paired well together. The bread was a little soggy, so eat it fast! Service here was excellent! We were seated right away and our waitress was constantly checking on us to make sure everything was okay. It was late on a Sunday and we just wanted pancakes, and didn't wanna make it at home. We figured Denny's was the only choice available until this place showed up on yelp. I called ahead to make sure that they were still offering breakfast items and sure enough, they were! But when we sat down, it didn't take us long to look at the menu and decide on ordering other items. I decided on the pozole since you can't get that any other day of the week, and my husband chose the shrimp tacos. And, of course.... A short stack of buttermilk pancakes. Everything was so good! Helpful and professional staff. The food quality has gone down the last few times I've been there. Had the ceviche and tinga chicken tostadas. Both of them had the tostada shells which are deep fried over cooked and the shells were dark brown. The tostada was supposed to come with a side salad. I really enjoy their Huevos Rancheros, which is served on an open-faced fried tortilla kind of like a fusion of a Benedict and a taco. Their Birria is served in a skillet and I was instantly envious of my friend who had ordered it. I would really dig the Chilaquiles but their salsa verde is a little bit acidic for my taste. Their pozole has a good flavor but is a bit watery. The Cafe de Olla is also a good accompaniment to breakfast, with the cinnamon-accented coffee. The dining area looks like it used to be a classic American diner-type of restaurant. There is also a nice outdoor patio with 4-5 tables. I got the sense that it was a family-run business. I had been craving a breakfast burrito for ages and had been hearing that Rose Cafe and donuts across the street had the best ones in the South Bay. Decided to come here instead after looking through the menu and the choices. I called in an order for the Mexican Breakfast Burrito and headed over to pick up on a Saturday early morning. They had barely opened when I called. There was a good amount of parking and I was the only customer. My order was already ready in the 10 or so minutes it took to drive over. I tried to pay with a credit card but their card reader wasn't working. Luckily brought cash, but they didn't have enough change and had to look around for change to give me. All in all. My friend treated me to a late lunch today. She had heard good things about El Buen Sazón and we were so happy to have dined there. Eric our server was very friendly and welcomed us to the restaurant. He told us that breakfast was still being offered and let us know about the daily special along with what drinks were offered. We sat outside. The traffic could get loud but did not take away from our visit. My friend and I both liked each salsa that accompanied the chips because they had a bit of a kick! The Tostada Bowl with birria was delicious. I ate too much because it hit the spot! My friend chose one of the starred items on the menu, the shrimp tacos. She liked them and thought the beans and rice were good too. I know my friend will return to El Buen Sazón. And next time I come back to town, I want to try more items off their menu. He sat us away from the front door as it was chilly. The menu has a lot of items! We decided on shrimp enchiladas, 3 tacos (Al pastor and carnitas). He asked if we wanted chips and we agreed, but also got the guac. Everything was good. We liked the way the carnitas was made with crispy exterior and moist inside. I didn't get a beverage but the hub chose fruitas Al Fresca over the horchata. When the bill came, we got to chat a little with Adrian, our waiter/owner. He said the type of cooking was from Toluca.
