I had my catalytic converter stolen on my 2006 Honda Accord in 2021. I went to El Camino Muffler for a replacement and the guy working there or the owner gave me two options: one aftermarket catalytic converter and one (OEM). I told him wanted OEM parts, and he went with it. However, yesterday I had the engine light come on, so I took the car to another shop for a check-up. They found that the sensor connecting to the catalytic converter was not working, and I also learned that the catalytic converter was aftermarket, not OEM. He brought his car after we got off from work and had it installed at El Camino Muffler in no time. The owner suggested to use a longer muffler tip than the one my buddy wanted because the muffler was too short. The result was great welding, and quality work in minutes. My car wouldn't pass smog because the catalytic converter was old and full of carbon. When I pulled up and explained my plight, Armando told me he would check to see if he could find a catalytic converter that would fit my car, a 1997 Saturn SL2. He said he could get one delivered in about 20 minutes and have me back on the road within the hour. He found me a chair, removed my old catalytic converter and showed me how it was caked with carbon. He explained that all old cars burn a little bit of oil and that causes carbon to build up in the catalytic converter. It doesn't cause the check engine light to come on because it can still work on the exhaust gases, which was true because the only thing my car was failing was the hydrocarbons which was caused by all the carbon build-up. When the part arrived, he quickly and efficiently went about installing it. I was out in less than an hour and my car passed smog with flying colors. Armando saved the day! read more

I have a subaru WRX with aftermarket J-pipe and catback exhaust system, it had good performance however it made some raspy sound and droned pretty bad on the highway. I've tried few things including sound dampening my car to quiet it down but the problem was still there. I was first referred to Armando from my next door neighbor who builds hot rods. I heard he was a great welder. I took my CLS550 for a resonator delete and did a great job. Recently I took my 535i for straight downpipes with new tips and he did a fantastic job again. Price is always one of the lowest. He is pretty upfront about what he can and can't do. Armando is THE MAN!! I recently had him install an aftermarket full header-back exhaust onto my Lexus ISF, and it unfortunately ended up being a good deal louder than I had anticipated. The wife was upset and it had a fair amount of drone around the 1800-2500rpm range. So I went back to Armando the following day and we came up with a branch resonator idea that helped to significantly quiet down the exhaust (no more drone!) but still maintain a nice deep rumble that the exhaust originally had. I was originally hesitant on messing with the aftermarket exhaust, since it cost me $1600, but it ended up turning out perfectly. Best of all, the wife is now happy! I can't thank Armando enough, as he was able to accommodate me both times (Saturday and Monday) mornings without an appointment. Well all I can say is that if Armando is there you can count on good work to be done. I have an 2001 M3 that I brought a complete bolt on system for him to replace and despite him doing maybe one other car like that he did a great job. Bolt on's never install perfectly but he made it work so that eveything went back together just like stock even though we were dealing with a 1/2 larger pipe. My first visit to El Camino Muffler was in the late 2000s. I had brought in my 4Runner to have the muffler replaced from the aftermarket Flowmaster 40 series to the stock I bought. The work was straight forward, but Armando managed to keep it a very professional swap, which was to my liking. Sometimes a shop doesn't treat all jobs as equal, attitude and all. So I've come back with my 2015 Camaro 2LS a few months back to seek out the same service. I bought an MRT V2 axle back muffler for my Camaro, and for these Camaro's they're not exactly bolt ons. I called Armando and he gave me a time when I could stop by the shop. The muffler came with clamps, and would require the stock pipe to be cut. Armando recommended welding as opposed to cut , slip and clamp. To me, welding sounded much better than the MRT kit came suggested. The work Armando did was done in about 1 hr, as promised And since I've had it done, no issues whatsoever. If you're looking for good, honest work, Armando (owner) @ El Camino Muffler is the person I'd recommend you to. Forgot to add, his pricing was about 1/3 to 1/2 cheaper than other shops which told me an hourly price. read more

HOW I FOUND THIS PLACE: The muffler shop I really wanted to go to was busy and recommended me to his buddy who owns El Camino Mufflers. WORK: The owner is pretty cool and made sure I was happy before I left, but the tech who did the work didn't know what he was doing. I wasn't happy when I left, but I wanted to leave in a hurry since I already spent 7 hrs waiting there over 2 days and didn't want the tech to mess up my exhaust system more than he already had. PROJECT INTENTION: I was looking to turn a single tip exhaust into a double dual exhaust setup. QUALITY OF WORK: Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. 1. Welding slag got all over the tips b/c the guy didn't know how to protect my Magnaflow tips with a simple towel. 2. The guy took forever. I was there over 2 visits and 7 hrs. He even wanted me to come back a third time until his boss yelled at him to finish the work. 3. At the first attempt, the horizontal pipe going from left to right side was exposed. The tech didn't even care to tuck it up behind the bumper. 4. After I asked that the Magnaflow logo face down, one of them was welded off to the side and had to be redone. 5. The left and right side was not symmetrical. 6. The welding job was horrible b/c he had to do it so many times! RESOLUTION: I went to Exhaust Works to get the work done by owner and operator who's been doing it for 35 yrs. Very happy with that place. RECOMMENDATION: The tech who did my custom exhaust work no longer works there, so I suppose you might get a better experience than me if you go there now. Good luck. I brought it in, somehow managed to squeeze me in, and install my muffler in under an hour and a half. I had another shop telling me it would cost 250!
