Did I just order the wrong burrito and is the horchata just always diluted? I'm hoping I experienced a one off experience because I love authentic and delicious burritos but this didn't hit a 10 out of 10 for me. I will go back and try again because the reviews say otherwise but it was just sad. Ordered a super burrito with barbacoa and it was like a soup or slop consistency. It was just straight juice and liquid and just too wet. Because of that it had one flavor throughout the burrito. Not terrible but just not what is to be expected. Horchata was flavorful but it was diluted. So sad because it did taste good. The best part was the customer service. There was a young guy out front and he was so friendly telling me about a car meet and inviting me to it. Inside was the same. Super friendly and helpful. I will go back to try again since I pass it after fishing so hopefully it was a one off time and I can update my review with more stars! read more

Fish burrito was meat (not what we ordered, so my husband got sick from the few bites he took)! Taco salad meat had large chunks of grizzle that I constantly had to spit out. Disgusting. Awful. This place is decent. The flavors are good but wow the prices are crazy. I got 4 tacos and 2 horchatas for about 30 dollars...and two of those tacos were veg so that's saying something. 2.5 Everything was just ok. I ordered a burrito with some chips and salsa and a canned soda(The sodas are all canned (already off to a not so good start). The chips and salsa are given right away and the salsa just didn't really taste like anything. Just wet. Same with the chips just cruchy nothingness. The super burrito was a good size and the carne asada was very tasty but it was almost like eating 2 different burritos when I got to the second half. The first half was almost all meat and cheese and the second half was everything mixed in and also where the problem lies. I very much hate onions and I asked for no onions when I ordered. I treated a couple of friends to dinner and we were planning on trying some tacos at a stand on N L Street but they weren't open. I noticed El Chaparrito had a pretty good rating and they were our Plan B in the event the taco stand was not open so off we went. It was all our first time dining at El Chaparrito. I ordered enchiladas with chile verde and green sauce, my Buddy had the Alambre and a beer, his wife had a chicken tostada with extra sour cream and a Michelada (beer, tomato juice, seasoning and two large shrimp). The meals come with chips and sauces. The hit for the night was the Michelada, my friend's wife gave it a solid 5. She said all of the ingredients were spot on with great flavor and the shrimp were fresh. Sadly she thought her chicken tostada was very bland and gave it 2.5 stars or overall 3.75 stars for her meal. The flavor from my enchiladas came from the sauce so it didn't have a nice blended overall total flavor. I liked the rice and beans that came with my enchiladas. My friend said his Alambre was dry. The Chips didn't have a lot of flavor but the sauces were good. On the way out they had rolled out a taco wagon after we arrived serving Al Pastor and Carne Asada that smelled really good. We plan to go back and try the street tacos that they serve outside at night. Give this restaurant a try and sharing your thoughts. read more

Wow!!!! 5/5 and one of the better tacos you can get in the bay, and all in a little former golf clubhouse(?). Spanish is useful here- I had a toddler with me so I just got what I knew- pastor, chorizo, and the like but I know I want to come back and explore the menu more. Service was prompt- maybe 10 minutes for a huge veggie burrito (toasted tortilla of course) and my 3 tacos. Interior was chill and has pictures of famous Mexican actors and some pretty papel picado. I haven't had a good taco spot in ages. What drives me to this restaurant is the authenticity and freshness of their food which is something you don't really get nowadays despite prices going up. I usually get this doordashed to me since it's far from me but this time I decided to dine inside the restaurant, and it's even better of course. I wanted a hole in the wall place to get the best burrito in town and i definitely found it! It is a converted ranch house turned taqueria, which is a sure sign the food is going to be amazing. I liked it so much that i came here for two meals on my 3 night trip to Livermore. The burritos are enormous. i ate mine over the course of two different meals and each time felt stuffed. They really do mean "wet" when you order it that way, with the whole thing swimming in delicious sauce. Everything was cooked well. I think it had some sour cream in it that just made all the flavors pop! It did take me two attempts to finish the burrito, it was just that large. 4 Stars - Asada Kings with a Salsa Scandal Let's get this out of the way: the asada tacos and torta at this spot are legit. Like, "drop everything, pull over, and eat on the hood of your car" kind of good. The meat is smoky, juicy, and properly seasoned--the kind of asada that makes you reconsider all previous asada. Tortilla game? Solid. Portions? Generous. You think you're just grabbing a taco or two, but you walk away spiritually fed. But then... the salsa. Oh no. The salsa. Friends, I don't say this lightly: this salsa tastes like Pace Picante got lost on the way to a PTA meeting and stumbled into an actual taco shop. It's watery, flavorless, and somehow both sweet and sour in all the wrong ways. It's the salsa equivalent of playing reggaeton at 0.5x speed. Tragic. It's almost like they brought in a guy from Wisconsin named Dale to whip up the salsa in the back. I kept waiting for the real salsa to come out--you know, the one made with fire-roasted tomatoes, serranos, a little garlic, salt, and love--but it never showed. Just Dale and his jar of disappointment. Look, I don't need Oaxacan mole or a Mayan ritual--I just want a salsa that doesn't taste like someone Googled "Mexican ketchup." I've never eaten such bland tacos in my life. I ordered buche, lengua, chile verde, and al pastor tacos. The al pastor was dry and the seasoning was almost non-existent. Salsas saved all the tacos. I will say that the lengua was cooked well and had some bite to it, but tasted boiled in water so the beefy flavor was also gone. This restaurant is on point! I ordered the marinated chicken tacos, beans and rice. The tacos were amazing. You can tell the chef takes pride in his work and I appreciate that. Food: Overall good tasting tacos for taco Tuesday. The chicken is cut into cubes/chunks, and I appreciate the fact they added salsa into the tacos. The Chile Arbol salsa I tried was excellent, it was the extra spice I needed to top off the tacos. These came in at a very reasonable $2.76 each, worth it, especially because they also added beans on the tortilla. Our food came within 3 to 4 minutes of ordering, insanely fast! Huge plus. Ambiance: I felt welcome overall, and every person I interacted with was helpful and friendly. It got really packed right after we ordered and a little loud but still pleasant. This place is so good! I live relatively close (20 minutes) and work even closer (15 minutes) and have been coming relatively frequently this year (2024). The food is great, I love the meats. The fresh squeezed orange juice is a pretty good deal, $10 for a huge cup. I really like the chorizo especially. Al pastor, lengua, and carne asada are good too. The food is a fair price. The place looks cool. It kinda looks like a senior center. I like the outdoor street taco cart that operates at night on weekends. I also like the chorizo super burrito. My default order is a super chorizo burrito, a few tacos, a side of sour cream, an 8oz guacamole, a (free) cup of water, and sometimes, depending on timing and my mood, a drink, usually large orange juice. Orange juice is not served after 8PM (or 9PM on Fridays and Saturdays, the days they close at midnight). The restaurant usually closes at 9PM but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until midnight and also have a street taco cart outside after 9PM. The outdoor cart gives more meat and unlimited salsa and onions and a couple other toppings but they taste different. I'd say it's personal preference whether they're better or not compared to the regular tacos. I'd say outside gives more meat and less other stuff, which is probably better value, but some people might prefer one over the other. Both solid picks in my opinion! They also have certain deals on some days, most significantly Taco Tuesdays have discounted $2.50 tacos and a free drink when you get 3 tacos. I believe Wednesday and Thursday have certain deals too but Tuesday is my favorite one. The service is great. They do their job in an efficient manner, everything comes out pretty quickly. And they are very friendly and accommodating, especially since I started coming frequently. The guy outside working the cart is very nice too, and explained stuff about the cart and its operations and the meat they cook. He also explained the ingredients to me and remembered me the second time I saw him, 2 weeks apart! read more

We were so happy to come upon this place after checking out the art studio next door. This place looks like a revamped senior apartment home or single level motel. Honestly would probably not stop in just driving by but since we were nearby and hungry, why not? Prices are pretty comparable to other taquerias in the area. We ordered: Veggie taco salad $14 Cheese enchilada plate $15.50 Regular Burrito $12.00 Everyone enjoyed their meals and would come again when nearby. Nothing to stand out from any other taqueria except the salsa had a nice little "zip" to it that kind of awakened things up. We ordered our food to go, and will make sure to ask for more salsa next time, especially for the taco salad... Everything was fresh, but it's hard taking my family out as they compare everything to Anita's that closed which had full service and people that smiled and were excited to see us and would remember our order. Service is at the counter only. I think it was an odd afternoon time. Just not overly welcoming. Pretty much "what would you like" and handing you your order after they call your number. Not necessarily unfriendly, but a smile and "how ya doing" kind of thing when it's not busy goes a long way. It's a nice little place with indoor and outdoor seating. I might be more inclined to come again if I could sit down with my family and have someone take my order at the table, perhaps a margarita. Even without a margarita, would just be nice to be able to just sit down and have someone else take care of everything. Otherwise, it will just be take out for us when we are in the area. First off, just little thing that was giving rate of star cause when I walk in I greet the person but they didn't seem happy or anything kinda didn't like that. Also after pick up order I order supreme burrito but didn't come with cheese which I find it very disappointing. Overall i like the asada meat better from barbarcoa meat.
