The food here was really good, and the walk in ordering was super pleasant, easy and fast! I loved that they had typical plates that I'm used to and not just tacos, and nothing was too greasy or too salty. It tasted fresh and normal and we loved it. The salsas are out of this world good, I got a large last time it was so yummy. Spicy though, so watch out. I saw a few people get chips and dine in and it looked really convenient, pleasant, and fast to do so. They have water in real cups available for dine in or while you wait, which I super appreciated. I got the torta alpastor and it was delicious!!!! 10/10 I liked their chips and salsa too! I mixed the red and green ones together and it gave it a really good flavor! My husband got the camarones à la diabla and he said he would rate it a 3/10 he has high expectations for this plate and was a bit disappointed :( the space is super chill and I love the music they were playing throughout our entire visit ! It's a vibe :) the service was mid; I asked for more chips! I'm giving this 5 stars because I don't want to hurt a small business, and the people who work here are genuinely very sweet. But if I were rating strictly on the food, it would be closer to 2.5 stars. I ordered the carne asada taco plate. Unfortunately, the carne was quite dry and pretty flavorless, and the rice and beans also lacked seasoning. It felt like a basic step was missed: salting during the cooking process. You don't need to over-salt food, but salt added while cooking is essential- it penetrates the meat, rice, and beans and actually brings out their natural flavors. Adding salt afterward just sits on the surface and tastes like... salt, not seasoned food. I honestly don't think I've ever had Mexican rice this bland, and the beans had no flavor at all. With just a bit of seasoning during cooking, this food could be so much better. Cooking 101. Please take note, kitchen -- there's real potential here. read more

This has been my go to taqueria in the area. I especially like their Al Pastor. They are the only ones to pan fry it to crispy before serving. Decided to DoorDash this time, but service there is always good. The ambiance is like your typical taqueria, and feels clean. This time I had: Shrimp burrito 4/5: first time ordering shrimp instead of al pastor, carne asada or pollo. It was a great change, not overcooked and went well together. I would definitely order this again. Al Pastor taco 4/5: I always have to have al pastor on something. So I ordered a taco along with my burrito. As mentioned earlier, the al pastor is pan fried after cooking to give it little crispy burnt umami flavor. Love this. Overall, El Cerrito is still my go to taqueria. The restaurant is close enough to the flying club that you can either walk or drive to there, which was rather convenient. I was quite hungry, since we didn't grab lunch until 2PM. The restaurant wasn't very busy, which was nice. I was given a few tortillas with my plate, which was nice. However, the meal in total wasn't very satisfying to me. The carnitas were a bit dry and salty, and the other portions of the meal did not stand out to me. Every time I come Home for the holidays I stop off of the 5 freeway to devour the most authentic & best tasting Mexican food in the bay and frankly Souther California too! I always get the super burrito with no cheese if sour cream but keep The guc! The food is on point all the time it's so delicious and so fresh the chicken is high-quality. It's so so good the salsa and it's wonderfully spicy. They do have poco if you can't handle mild or hot salsa. Sadly, I've been coming to this place for the past 15 years and watched it go from a great taqueria with good food to a sorry shell of its former self. Back in the day, there was value to be had - you could get a two taco combo for $6.99 and help yourself to chips and salsa at their salsa bar. The service was never great (it was hit or miss) but you could count on having a decent meal most of the time. My last time here (about two years ago) was pretty awful but I decided to give it one more try today. I ordered a two tacos combo plate with horchata and my wife ordered a quesabirria. Everything about the food sucked. The tortillas were practically burnt, the chips tasted stale and store bought, the salsas were watery and lacking flavor, and the meat was the worst part. The birria tasted like beef jerky and the chicken tasted rubbery and overcooked. They don't give you limes, radishes, or anything to liven up the food even a little. It's just all around awful. My wife's quesabirria looked like a disgusting soggy mess of grease and they don't even give you a sauce to dip it in. I am honestly shocked this establishment is still in business, but with some competition increasing in this area I wouldn't be surprised to see it shut down in a few years. I would never hope that for a business but I can tell the pride and joy of cooking has long left this restaurant. It's so sad because I used to enjoy coming here. I'm only giving 4 stars due to the pico de gallo being too liquidity. The bottom got pretty soggy, but nevertheless, I cleaned the plate because it was just that good. Noticed prices were pretty steep more like restaraunt prices rather than a taqueria, anyway ordered a super burrito, gal was very nice behind the counter. Came out was prety average size not as big as I am used to. Started eating it and it was OK but I kept hoping bite after bite I would get to the fixns but all it was was rice, beans and a little meat and a little pico de galo. When I pay 15.00 for a Super Burrito I expect cheese, sour cream, guacamole some fresh onion something more than rice and beans but thats all it was, super boring. My wife and I love this place. It is (actually was, we moved in April) our go-to place for to-go or brought-in Mexican. I usually have the Carne Asada Buritto, and my wife gets the Pollo Desebrado. Our Burritos have been delicious, and we love the Red Salsa. When we've picked up our food or ate in, we found the staff friendly and helpful. Also, every time I've been in, there's always a ton of Mexican peeps inside eating and having a good time. Always a good sign. When I come here, I usually get a torta on carne asada or pollo. The meats are pretty decent but what really does it here for me is the fresh and soft Mexican roll. It's so good. On the sweet side too. Also did a bunch of under the table home reno and hired some trusty amigos that I always work with. Every now and then, I treat them to a burrito from this joint and they always love it. I had heard good things about this taqueria so we decided to check out on cinco de Mayo. We ordered online and it was ready to pick-up within 15 minutes. It was easy to find a parking space and the business was easy to access. We walked in, gave the employee our name for pick-up. When we asked for limes, the employee gave use a look as if it wasn't normal to ask this, but she gave us the limes. We asked for extra salsa, and she said it was in the bag. When we got home, there was only two small containers of salsa for 3 orders of food which is why I redacted 1 star. I did not take any pictures of our food but my husband ordered a taco plate. He said the chicken was better than the steak. I ordered the steak Al a mexicana. It was doused in red sauce that was delicious and spicy. I found this place by mistake but it was definitely worth time. It's a small place and you order at the front and sit down wait for your number to be called to get your food. I order the Campechana which is a Shrimp octopus cocktail. It was a good size but a lot of juice for not enough ingredients. The reason they get a 4 star, still, is bc their service was friendly and their salsas were fire. The cocktail was not bad at all just needed a little more spicy for my liking and again a bit more meat. El Cerrito hands down has the best beans in the East Bay. If that alone isn't enough to get you here, then maybe their pickled carrots will draw you in. Located in the Cattlemen's parking lot, just off 580, this spot is easily accessible for grabbing quick lunch or grabbing take-out on your way home. The menu is a good size and has plenty of pescatarian and vegetarian options, but my go-to is the al pastor. You can see the meat cooking on the spit above the grill and the wonderful smell just makes my mouth water! Pre-covid, they had a salsa bar with chips; now all the salsas and my absolute favorite, zanahorias (aka carrots), are prepacked in small plastic containers behind the counter, so don't forget to ask for them! read more

This place is clean and the workers wear masks and are friendly and efficient. The shredded chicken is so juicy and tender and flavorful. I now order two quesadillas so I can have one for lunch and one for dinner. I eat here after going to the gym to pretend I've earned it. The taco salad is hearty with rice, beans, meat of your choice, cheese, salsa, sour cream, lettuce in a bowl made out of a flour tortilla. I will never lose weight if I keep eating here but I don't care, every delicious calorie is worth it. My only critique is the carne asada can get overcooked. Also, the guacamole is excellent but they give you a small portion to go so if you're an aficionado like me get extra. It's really never a bad idea to get extra guac. The super burrito was more like regular burrito. We paid for sour cream and cheese and didn't really taste any on our burritos. We asked for no pico directly to the cook and he still added it. After bringing it up to their attention all he had to say was "it was already made" on top of that we paid $55 for two burritos and 3 sodas plus a TIP.
