Love this restaurant and their food and staff. My only complaint is the bartender Tony. He is very customer selective and does not handle high stressful business well. He cannot multi task well enough to keep the bar served well and the rest of the restaurant. The bar gets dropped and customers sit for several minutes waiting on items. I'm sure the intent is well. But I don't like hearing staff talk about other customers. Which was done. Poor manners and showing for your customers. He also disappears for long periods of time without notice. I will have to try another location. This one is very convenient though. read more

I have always loved El Cerro but unfortunately the pricing has gone up and is horrible. To feed a family of 4 lunch with 2 kids being under 6 cost $61.00. That doesn't include drinks or tip. Very disappointed in the price increase. read more

I would give a no star! Our first time coming here. Salsa taste like straight tomato sauce no flavor, chips are to thick with no taste, you have to pay for cheese that no flavor at all. To start we have 3 kids 3 adult meals they didn't bring food out together wasn't hot at all I've worked in restaurant business before and I know that temperature couldn't be up to code. It was like they forgot about us and it sat in back for a while the youngest kid didn't get his food at all till we finally got someone to notice there was a problem we said something to them of course they are surprised and we all waited to eat till he got his food so if you can really imagine how much colder our food was when we finally got to eat any parent wouldn't like that!! No sorry about that no manager came...I Seen that the $17.00 single Fajitas looked like a pretty good size at table next to us so I ordered it. Came out with no steam at all but for some reason my Veggies was burnt real bad almost like they gave me the bottom of the pan it was horrible on top of that was cold. Husband and older son ordered cold chicken nachos that had no flavor at all. At the end of it all and waitress knowing how burnt my fajitas was, there was no sorry, no manager that came to speak to us no discount for it nothing and for 3 kids meals 2 nachos and one fajita came up to 83.00!!!! Never in my life have I paid $83 bucks at a Mexican restaurant for my family and it was horrible one at that!! If you love Mexican food like we do and been to a lot of Mexican restaurants you know good Mexican food but don't go to this one!! If I wanted Bland food I want to stuck to a diet. We went to the Surfside location as we usually do. I ordered the chicken fajita lunch. The food was totally tasteless and not the quality we have had there in the past. My husband's food was cold and unappetizing. We had to request straws, but I know many restaurants have gone to this policy. The server did not offer refills on drinks and the atmosphere was just boring. It was my last time going there. The chips and salsa were the only thing we enjoyed. Thus, the 2 star rating. read more

We were so excited to try this again since they moved into a new location. We'd been last year and the kitchen and service were very slow so when we came back this year and they had a new location we thought they must be better. We even convinced my sister and her family to go with us. We were so wrong. Service was worse. Out of 8 family members only one order arrived correctly. The black beans some of us ordered as a side were still raw. Not seasoned and the food was desperately mediocre. The chicken and beef were so salty they were inedible. Shame on me for giving it a second try because I never imagined it could get worse. And it did. I hate they spent money on a new building which was beautiful inside because there's no way they can survive on food and service like we had. Our waiter was clueless on food or drink menu and when we had so many things wrong he could have cared less to correct. Won't be trying it again. 3 time would be really terrible on my part. We are locals and have been going here for years. Food and service is always great. Unfortunately we went Wed night at not so good. When are meals arrived we had to wait a few minutes to get silverware ok not the end of the world. Wife started eating and then she discovered a very long dark piece of hair. Waited a few to get someone attention to ask to speak with manager. He was sorry and said no charge of course and he said he would bring a new meal out to go since the others in our party had finished. We get the bill and he did charge us for the one to go. We enjoyed our time at El Cerro Grande in Surfside Beach. They have the best fajitas anywhere around the Grand Strand. I also love their red sangria is and they're great happy hour menu and drinks. Always good food salsa is great cheese dip amazing we alway leave full with Togo boxes but this time was even better because we got the best waiter we have ever had. Call him nacho he said because no way we can say his name. But he was on top of every thing he even brought a small spoon for our five years old rice which we normally have to ask for but he thought of it all and was so fast and friendly. Best Mexican in myrtle. My husband and I eat here almost weekly. The service is always on point.....Antonio is the best. He's always friendly and knows our order by heart. Cowboy chimichanga is one of the best things in the menu. The fajita nachos are the bomb too....you can get them with shrimp, chicken, or beef. The chips and queso are always a great appetizer. EL Cerro Grande - Mmmmm - Mexican Near Me - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

This was our first and last time eating here. We were not impressed. The atmosphere was loud and they kept playing the same song over and over again. It was so annoying. The food was less than average and the service was awful we ask for plates when they brought the appetizer then we had to ask for utensils when we got our food. Refills on sodas was non existent. Not to mention our waitress can to the table with a broom and dust pan in one hand and asked if we needed anything. The health department needs to make a visit. read more

I will preface this by saying we regularly dine at the other El Cerro Grande's in the area, have for years, but this is my 1st time at this particular one. We all ordered the same thing we always do at the other El Cerro's, so we know how everything tastes. This was one of the worse restaurant experiences I've ever had. 1st the chips and salsa- it's hard to mess that up. The chips were so overcooked and burnt tasting, and they had absolutely no salt on them at all. My son usually eats a whole basket by himself, but he took 2 bites and pushed the basket away, refused to eat any more of them. We ordered him a cheese quesadilla and FRIES, but when it came, it had rice instead of fries. No big deal, honest mistake, and she took it back to get fries. I ordered a beef alambre like I always do, it comes with rice and beans. When I got it, it was chicken instead of beef and there was rice, but no beans. When I said that to the waitress, she took it back to fix the order. When she returned with the beef alambre, there was then beans, but no rice. When I asked where my rice went, waitress said, "Rice??? You said you wanted beans!" and huffed. I explained that I wanted both like I ordered, but the 1st order was missing beans, and the fixed order was missing rice. She said she would go get me a side of rice, which she did. I then attempted to eat, my husband was basically done with his by that point. My beef and the onions/peppers were so charred and burnt tasting that they were inedible (and I usually love me some char, but this tasted like the ashes in the bottom of a campfire), and the beans looked like something that had been regurgitated. Again, I know what refried beans look like, eat them at other El Cerro's often, but these were the color and runny consistency of something in the diaper of a newborn. I pushed the plate away because it was all just awful. The only reason I gave it the 1 star is because my husband's order was right and tasted as it usually does. read more

My favorite place for authentic Mexican fare. Usually I tend to prefer Americanized Mexican cuisine but this El Cerro is the BUSINESS. Cool decor inside, friendly staff and sweet mariachi music made me try to teach my kids Spanish while we ate the bottomless chips. That is until I realized I don't speak it either. One of the best Myrtle Beach Mexican Restaurants, and there are a lot of them. Good, Authentic Mexican food ! Fajitas? you get a plate full that is at least 1 1/2 to 2 times as much as most other places. Enough to take home and have as a lunch the next day (if you're not all fajita'd out). Chimichangas melt in your mouth. Order the fried chimichangas with ground taco beef. it's not on the menu, but well worth the try! Only drawback is, they only have the one type of beens (the mushy kind), and they don't have an option of mexican mashed potatoes, like some others. But it is a minor thing when you have such delicious food. The Decor is amazing-Mexican Kitch! Lots of metal sculptures, and awesome chandeliers made out of hundreds of beer bottles. The decor of the bar makes you feel like you're going back in time to the "Revolucione". Staff was awesome. I'm temporarily on crutches, and they were all very helpful with doors, seating, etc. Overall, this location is a terrific place read more

All the other 5 yelpers, as of this post, got it right. This place had great decor, open, friendly atmosphere. Food was served fresh, hot and fast. As the others have stated, the free chips and salsa are fresh and very tasty. I don't have much else to say that everyone else didn't say already. All three of our meals were excellent. Large portions and reasonably priced. THM (Take Home Message): Authentic Mexican cuisine. Location is beautiful but that is what you are paying for. Since they decided to build this new restaurant their portion size has diminished greatly. If you don't mind two-thirds of your plate being lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo and beans then go for it.
