Burger with fries $4.95, plus 95 cents for cheese
    Manda C.

We stopped in around 10:30am on Sunday for the first time. We chose this spot for two reasons: 1) I'm running out of places I haven't tried, lol! 2) It stated 20% off your order with a yelp check in. There were no pictures of a menu, no website and a majority of the reviews were older, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was surprised by the size of the place, there were dozens of tables and the building was deeper than it appeared from the outside. There was a lot of color on the walls, the theme was hard to nail down as it seemed all over the place. After looking at the shockingly large menu, which was half diner inspired and half Tex-Mex, my guess is they were going for a Tex-Mex/Cowboy theme. There are several murals on the wall, including one of the Alamo. There are pretty Mexican paintings beneath a variety of bird houses, there is a giant Cowboys star, etc. You seat yourself. It would be really helpful if there was a sign at the front as we stood there for several minutes wondering if we could seat ourselves before anyone said anything. There were two people working and there was a Now Hiring sign in the window. After we found a clean table, a young gentleman asked for our drink order and came back shortly with a sweet tea, a Dr. Pepper and two menus. He ran off right away, but it was his second day and they had a steady crowd. A woman, who had been bustling around like she knows the place like the back of her hand, popped by and asked if we needed anything. I asked about the yelp check in, but was informed they don't honor that. I mentioned that it would be nice if that was updated and got an insincere apology. I get it, you didn't do it, but in a place like this, the owner clearly comes around, so maybe mention it to them? Since other reviews mention older check in offers being honored, removing the current offer is the only way to avoid confusion. There was a lot of menu to sort through, too much in my opinion. We gave up after the fourth page and settled on burgers. I thought $4.95 for a burger and fries was a pretty damn good deal and was only mildly annoyed about the 95 cent upcharge for cheese. To keep it simple, we decided to order two cheeseburgers and fries. While we waited for someone to come back and take our orders, we came across the pricing for the drinks and got some sticker shock- $2.75 for a soda? There was also some printer paper on the back page of the menu indicating prices had changed. I took this to be an explanation of price changes, but later when we got our bill, the handwritten prices didn't match my expectation, so I guess that was there so they didn't have to pay to have the menus reprinted? I tried to inquire about the price but the new guy didn't know and the lady never checked on us after that. When the food came, the melted square of what could have been Kraft singles on the burger felt like a rip off for the upgrade price. The burger itself tasted good, the bun had a nice toast, they didn't skimp on the side of mayo. I didn't use the tomatoes because they didn't seem as fresh as I like, but I liked the lettuce and my husband liked the pickle spear. The fries had an interesting cut, but they were cut different sizes and thicknesses. That being said, they were closer in consistency on the cook than I thought they would be. It was really obvious from the crowd, that they have a specific group of regulars. Maybe they aren't used to new people coming in who don't know the prices. Maybe they do a really good job of informing people of the costs and bring menus before getting drink orders normally, but had an off day because they are short handed. I don't know, but I left feeling kind of confused and nickel and dimed. I know reprinting menus costs money, but your customers deserve to know the prices when they make a decision. Should I really have to point that out? The food was pretty good, so I might wait until they get fully staffed and reprint their menus to do a comparison visit.

Everything was good. Good food, good value. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Old school!!! Only issue was through the Yelp app it said I would get 20% off. They did not honor that coupon!!!

Ham & Cheese Omelette with Hash Browns & a Buttered English Muffin

I always like trying these little restraunts that would for the most part go unoticed. Le Chaparral Grille is small and has a nice n cozy feel to it. The server we had was very nice and the chef came out and brought us our food. I had the ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and an English muffin. The omelette was good and so was the English mufffin, the has Hashbrowns were also surprising good. I also tried the chips and salsa which were unfortunately bland, and managed to get a bite of some refried beans which also tasted pretty plain. However, the food is decently priced, the staff is good, and theres lots of seating.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The guacamole tasted super fresh, the queso was flavorful and came in a generous portion, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. The only small hiccup was the chips situation--they give you big portions of guac, queso, and salsa, but the chips come in a tiny bowl. (Literally 10 chips) very sad for 6 people to fight over so little of chips. Not a huge deal, just a bit surprising. We also tried the margaritas--they had great flavor, though they tasted absent of tequila. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back...maybe next time we bring our own chips! :)

If I could give La Fondita Mexican Restaurant six stars, I would legally change the rating system…read morejust to make it happen. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.

We started things off right with chips, jalapeño ranch dip, and queso, which is honestly the only proper way to begin a Chuy's visit. The queso was warm, creamy, and exactly what my soul needed, and the chips with that jalapeño ranch were the cherry on top. Speaking of cherries, we also got the Tito's cherry limeade, and it was the spring we didn't know we needed to bounce. Crisp, cold, a little dangerous in the cutest way, and honestly adorable -- the perfect little kick to start the meal. Our waiter was top notch: kind, attentive, and somehow always there right when we needed something without ever hovering. That kind of service makes the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. For food, we ordered the Baja shrimp tacos, and when I say the shrimp is BIG, I mean it (and no, we're definitely not out here flattering any men ). The shrimp was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and absolutely the star of the plate. They came with rice and beans, and even though I forgot to ask for the cilantro lime rice , I was still super happy with everything. We also got the steak fajita Tex-Mex burrito bowl, and every single bite just kept getting better. The steak was tender, packed with flavor, and once it all got mixed together with the salsa and scooped up on the crispy tostada, it was perfection. This meal was such a good reminder of why Chuy's became a favorite for me in the first place -- fun atmosphere, great food, amazing service, and one of those dinners that just hits from the first chip to the last bite.
