Wonderful customer service and GREAT food. We always get personalized attention when we go. The women's restroom is spotless, always a plus, and the ambience is traditional Mexican ranchero style. The food is hot, fresh, and served quickly. The chiles rellenos are FANTASTIC. All the combos are good and the house margarita is perfect. They do serve an excellent Cadillac margarita as well but the house one is my favorite. Large booths and traditional artwork complete the experience. HIGHLY recommend this place! The food is also very reasonably priced. Bring an appetite or be prepared to bring food home for a late night snack. read more

Let me start by saying I love Mexican food. It's my favorite food on the planet. Secondly, I think all of the negative reviews of this establishment are well justified. The service is mediocre at best.....I could tolerate poor service if the place was packed, but it wasn't. I guess I should have known better since there were multiple Caucasian waitresses working that there might be a potential issue with the food quality as well. Frankly, the service sucked...and that's being generous. So, strike one with the service. The salsas served with the chips was exceedingly spicy, I am capable of eating spicy, so to say it was overly spicy is being fair in my judgment. The food came out and it was simply disgusting. The beans and rice side were unpalatable, the beans were too thick, the coagulated layer of cheese on top of the beans was also a big turn off. I ordered chicken tacos, and they were simply poorly prepared and the meat was dry and flavorless. I tried my wife's tacos which were made with pollack (the same fish served at Long John Silvers), and the fish was obviously frozen in the form of a fish stick before being fried in several day old fryer grease- my impressions is not very favorable. I would love to say this place rocks! Unfortunately, they failed to deliver on multiple levels. My advice is to go a block down and eat at Pepe's they do things right over there. Oh, I almost forgot, I ordered a Marguerita, it was served in very small glass, which was strange....regardless of the meager portion, it was prepared well and would have been the highlight of the dining experience. read more

We go here every week with our family. The prices are reasonable, the food is great and the service is fantastic. The food comes out fast to the table. You can always tell when the jalapenos are in season as the salsa gets a little hotter the way i like it. They treat us like family. The place is old school feeling and i love it. The owner, just plain and simple - is grumpy (I am being nice). She happened to be bartending, and kept leaving the bar to work in other areas of the restaurant. It appeared to me they were short on staff, including a host/hostess. The food is so, so. She was rude when ordering another drink at the bar - never smiled. I don't need to go back. There are other local Mexican restaurants (4 within a mile radius) that are much, actually, extremely better - Pepe's, El Sol . . . El Charro was much better, in my youth, many years ago. Went there for the first time with family! Got there a little before closing, which is 9pm. Very odd closing time for a restaurant, especially on a Friday night!!! Staff was OK, owner was very delighted to see us and greeted us with a warm welcome, .....Nottttttttttttttt. I hope that's not how they are for the next family and hope they're not left with a bitter experience. Food was ok, I guess. We enjoy Taco Tuesday at least twice a month. For $1.50 you get a full size hard shell beef or chicken taco loaded with shredded beef or chicken, lettuce and a good size helping of cheese. I enjoy the beef, very flavorful and tender. Chicken is very bland in my opinion. Don't arrive after 7:00 or they start running out of tacos. Is the place old? Oh yeah. Is the furniture worn and tacky? You bet. Is there a wait? Yup. About 15-20 minutes. Can you get out for less than 7 bucks for two tacos and a margie? YES YOU CAN. I have came here every week to enjoy this establishment for many months. Never have I interacted with the owner till tonight. I came in with my wife and two friends one of which I work with. We both just got off of work and met there for dinner. There was a wait so he went to a bar to order a beer. The owner than refused to serve him claiming he smelt like "boos and weed". The minute I walked is there it already had that scent. My friend respected her request, drank a water and waited to get sat. When we were finally seated he already knew he wasn't going to be able to order at the table obviously if not being served at the bar so ordered a Sprite. I than order a alcoholic beverage and as the server was checking my id the owner very disrespectfully came up to the table grabbed my id and said there shouldn't be any alcohol served at this table. Conversation continued and we decided to leave due to how disrespectful she was. I will never support this business and neither will and of my friends and family. Don't support such a disrespectful lady that doesn't respect the people who support her. This place will not continue if she is around best advice I can give is she might as well stay home. read more

Avoid at all costs. After coming here for many years, I was suddenly told I could no longer order the "Half and Half," basically a plate of rice and beans To Go. What the heck? Are they for real? Apparently, you can order it if you're dining in-house, but not To Go. Ridiculous! It's like something out of Monty Python. So if you want just a small order of rice and beans for one person, they won't let you order it. You have to instead order a "full" order of rice, and a "full" order of beans--in separate containers, and at double the price. I tried to explain that that was too much food for one person, but no go. I tried to appeal to their sense of logic, and, more importantly, to their honoring of customer loyalty. Both were non existent. The Owner would not budge and she refused to speak to me. She is extremely unprofessional and has no business owning a restaurant. She would rather lose a loyal customer than sell an inexpensive, already prepared meal that only needs to be spooned into a container. Good grief! What stupidity! Save yourself the b.s. and go to Pepe's right down the street. They will accommodate you--whatever you need. Also, they give you free chips and salsa with your To Go order! They are professional, really nice, and most of all, their food is a hundred times better. read more
