This is the worst michelada and mariscos spot here. We are from Long Beach came to visit a relative and Yelp this restaurant by the pictures and reviews we gave it the benefit of doubt. I placed an order to go. I got the tacos al gobernador, I usually go during the day. But today I decided to get them at night. And for some reason when up pick my food the older gentleman in the back seemed agitated. I asked for my tacos to be extra crispy! But when I arrived home the tacos were very flimsy and loose. If anything it felt like they rushed the tacos. And one of my tacos legit had 4 pieces of shrimp. Not 4 whole shrimps! 4 pieces of sliced shrimp in one taco! They added too much spice to the point where it was too much. Never am I getting it at night. I'll stick to getting it during the day. Thank you very much. read more

El Chilito is where it's at! Mexican food + seafood + beer what's not to love. Decor & Atmosphere: 4 stars- definitely bright & loud. Great for large groups but probably not so intimate for a romantic date night. Definitely a fun place though to toss back beers and have a good time. The entrance makes me laugh. It's roped off like a VIP club, they let you pass into the restaurant when they're ready for you to sit. Seems a little overkill but it was a good laugh. This place gets packed so id recommend early dining if you don't want to be stuck waiting outside. Service: 5 stars. Our waitress was lovely, super attentive and being our first time we had a lot of questions about the menu and she took her time and didn't rush us to go over everything. I appreciated she spoke up and gave recommendations and helped us so much without coming off that she was tired of us. Also she brought everything out reasonably fast given how busy they were. Cocktails & Beers: 5 stars! The presentations of their cocktails and beers are out of this world, check out the pictures it's a good time. They're known for their micheladas so if your not into that the pickings may be slim. I love the fruit flavoring you can add to the beer or you can go all out & get the shrimp, seafood, or oysters added. If you love seafood like me it's a great mix. I had a modelo michelada with oysters and it was the bomb! I'm definitely going to try the oyster shooter next time. Food: 5 stars. Everything was super good. I feel like if your coming here you might as well go with seafood, doesn't sound like their chicken is too popular. I had the regular shrimp soft taco plate and it was so good and filling. My mom and I came here for dinner and this place is known for their seafood and michelada. We were greeted at the door with warm smiles and were seated at a nice cozy corner. My mom and I didn't know what to order so lucky one of the servers helped us in deciding what to get. We started with a Marischelada (michelada with seafood cocktail on top) and it was really good with the mango and tamarindo. Next, we got the tostada as chips with fresh salsa and shrimp soups as appetizers. My mom got a stone bowl heated hot with seafood and I got a warm and spicy seafood soup. Garlic bread side was okay but the fresh corn tortillas just melts in your mouth :D We didn't finish anything because the portions here are HUGE. So, the BF is now obsessed with this place. We live 80 miles away which is a shame because we could do some real damage here. We stopped in on the way back to Westside LA from a quick trip down the central coast. Craving some fresh seafood, we found this joint on yelp and the pictures sold us. After a workout, thought that we could not only satiate the seafood craving but load up on very much needed protein. Low carb, ya know... BUT, we couldn't resist the micheladas. So f'ing good. If you don't like seafood, you still need to come here for the micheladas. Seriously. Ok, so we got two orders of the aguachile. Well, the Bf refused to share so I had to get my own. I got the one with scallops and enjoyed the scallops moreso than the shrimp but the shrimp was good also. There was so much food...I only ate half of my plate so share one order and split a warm entree. That's our plan for next time. Service is friendly and quick. Food is great. If you love seafood or just even micheladas, you have to give this place a shot. The aguachiles are great, but the price point to portion seems underwhelming. Given everything in the world had increased in price point, it's understandable. I love that they have a "natural" michelada since I don't really enjoy Clamato. I order a Campechana Mixta Coctel and Agua Chile. The Campechano Coctel had a ball of ice made out of sliced octopus and who knows what else. The octopus in the ice was sliced about the thickness of ham, why would anyone do that ‍. It had imitation crab meat, no true Mexican Coctel or campechana has imitation crab meat. In my state of Sinaloa Mex, restaurants owners would most likely get shot for serving imitation crab meat in a coctel lol JK. The flavor of the coctel was horrible and it lacked texture, most likely because it hardly had any onion, tomato, cilantro nor cucumber nevertheless avocado. I'm not going to much into detail on the shrimp aguachile.The aguachile salsa tasted like pure lime with no flavor or spices and the shrimp were warm and very soft. I grew up around Mariscos and this only means one thing, the shrimp were not fresh. I came here with my coworkers on our way back from LA. The food at this Mexican restaurant was really good. I got the fish and shrimp fajitas plate and it came out sizzling and smoking. The plate came with rice and beans and overall the whole entree was delicious. I also ordered a michelada, which was ok. I thought it would've been a lot better from what I saw from pictures though. The only thing that had upset us was the poor customer service. My friend ordered the menudo, which looked ok but when she got it, she realized she ordered the wrong thing. She thought she was ordering posole, so We asked the waitress if they could switch the menudo for posole, which most places would do it no problem. Of course, they came back and told us they would box up the menudo for her to go and bring out a bowl of posole for 1/2 price. It was ridiculous! For how much they charge, they should've just replaced the menudo for posole. Other Than that, the food was good. Just make sure you know exactly what your ordering before u come here. read more

Honestly. I'm so happy I brought my parents here. Coming from SB, there are no seafood places like this. Best michelada I've had. And I am a freak about my Micheladas. We ordered empanadas and tostada aguachiles and molcajete aguachiles. BOMB. The portions were huge and filling. Our waitress Xotchil, was so nice and sweet. She kept checking up on us which was nice. The ambience is very nice and loud and a live Banda In The back which for me is a huge plus. I will definitely be back for there more fresh seafood and their DELICIOUS micheladas!! read more

Found this place while driving past it when going down Oxnard Blvd. We had gone for dinner on a Friday evening. The menu is amazing here as they have so many options of food and drinks! Shrimp tacos here are a must have and the house salsa is yumm!!! We sat inside and it was a bit humid. The fans were on but needed windows or doors open. Upon going to the restroom, I noticed they had tables and covered seating outside. There was a d.j. table and music was playing, so I do want to come back end enjoy another dinner & drinks out there. I decided to give this place another try and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was better and the place was cleaner than usual. The food tastes better than it did before. The salsa was tasty and flavorful. I took off one star because they don't always have the items on the menu. I'm not sure what changed, employees or management but this place has dramatically improved. They have the best marischeladas and tosticheladas I've ever had! El Chilito Breakdown: The Food: On my last trip to Hawaii, I had the most amazing crab chimichanga. And since then, I've been on a quest to find it. El Chilito is NOT the home to the best crab chimichanga. They did not have crab, but they said they could make a seafood one that would taste just as good. I tried it, but it was terrible. The fish was rubbery and would not allow itself to be chewed. It had the texture of overcooked calamari - rubbery. The shrimps tasted VERY fishy and not fresh. However, I will say that my boyfriend got a carne asada chimichanga and thought it was mediocre. So maybe the food is not terrible, but we've both had better mexican food. The Value: Dinner for two cost about $30. The Experience: This place is very dirty and needs a lot of love. Parts of the floor and walls are missing. You can see the mold on the windows. I will say that the service was good. People were friendly. Really, we came here because we were trying to get to another restaurant, but that restaurant had no parking and we ended up in El Chilito's lot. We didn't want to get towed for using their lot and we were starving. So, we just ate here. I probably won't ever return here. read more

I actually stumbled across this place by accident, and am so glad I did! The wait for a table was only a few minutes, and service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the shrimp tacos plate, and my friend customized the shrimp enchiladas, because we were informed that they were out of the usual sauce that smothered the dish. The portions were huge, and the seafood was fresh! Each plate came with the standard rice and beans which were nothing spectacular, but were tasty nonetheless. I had a horchata to drink, and my friend ordered a Michelada with Corona Familiar. IT. WAS. HUGE!! I tried to take a picture of it close to other items to give you an idea of its size. . So, my decision was made. It was a winter night and the place was empty. Being from out of town I was hoping to find a restaurant that was actually busy. You know, it's usually a good indicator of a good restaurant when the place has customers there. But, I didn't want to wait longer than usual to get food and gave it a try. It is a fairly big sized restaurant. Oxnard is lucky to have this place. It is set up to host lots of people during the summer months for some serious fiestas. Big menu with many choices, which made it hard for me to decide. Big mistake on my part. When getting seafood always opt for the dish that keeps the seafood in its most natural state.
