Tasty, affordable place to grab some typical Colorado-style Mexican food. Menu has a good variety of dishes that are reasonably priced. Green chili (with the usual orange color) comes in hot, medium or mild--the hot isn't too challenging. There is a slight uniqueness to the flavor, though. The service was friendly & lightning fast. This place is so good!!!! Not only good but incredibly consistent and I say that after 10+ times eating here. Carne asada chimi w/ green chili and shrimp ceviche are just a couple of the amazing dishes you have to try. The ceviche can be HOT so be careful but you really can't go wrong with anything here. Very disappointed. We have a group of 10. 8 adults, one child and 1 infant. Regulations in the state allow for 10. The staff at this place said we could not sit together because only 8 were allows to a party. The table behind us had 9, 8 adults and 1 child. This place would not allow us to be seated at the same table because of an infant. They are holding tighter restrictions then the state and would not accommodate us. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. 10 minutes to get drinks (water). The lunch buffet had tasteless, almost pureed hamburger meat, taco shells, soggy tortillas, waited 20 minutes for the enchiladas that were nothing but tortillas with some light cheese drowned in green Chile. I've had better Mexican food, but they do give you a good serving of food. The menu does have a very good long list of Mexican food that isn't found in other restaurants. For my 2nd visit I had the fajitas with chicken, steak and shrimp mixed with mozzarella. This dish is very good with the steak and chicken, shrimp was a little tough. I also had chili nachos for my appetizer, it was good but they use that fake yellow cheese which is never appetizing. The staff and waitress were very friendly. This place is the real deal for authentic Mexican food. I've been to El Cielo several times and I've always had a great experience. The food brings me back to when I lived in a South Texas border town. It's rare to come across real authentic Mexican food. And to have it right here in Greeley and also in Loveland. The owner is awesome. I guarantee If you don't see him at the 10th street location, he is at the Loveland location. The thing I enjoy most is he is genuine. He doesn't just stop by and do the BS talk of 'how was everything,' he is genuine and connects with all guests. Being financially focused, I'm selective where my money goes. Checked it out last weekend since we were in the area. LOVED the salsa bar. Lost of different types of peppers, pico and salsas. Waiter was really nice, really helpful. We both got breakfast burritos. They were pretty flavorful; however, the green chili smothering them was cold. The burritos were hot, but not the chili. All in all, they were pretty good but not spectacular. We noticed a lot of people coming in to take their burritos to go. That may be an option in the future. read more

My husband and I come here for breakfast at least every other weekend. I think their breakfast burritos are hands-down the best in the area. If you get them made to order it takes a little while (10 minutes or so), but is SO worth it. They're not huge, so get two (or three). I also get the huevos rancheros fairly often and love it. The refried beans are a little soupy and could be served a little warmer. The salsa is great, especially the tomatillo and the roasted. The service is good, not necessarily outstanding, but very friendly and attentive. El Cielo is definitely one of our favorite places. read more

Ordered four hand hand bean and cheese burritos for take out this evening. $5.50 per burrito. I was handed four styrofoam containers that were so light, I cracked the top and looked before leaving. Low and behold, One folded tortilla with a table spoon of beans and a sprinkle of government cheese. I asked the server if this was some sort of joke. She took the four containers and had the kitchen wrap them in tin foil. Now I have four mini pancake burritos the would not feed on average age child. Really enjoyed the server throwing the brown bag into my chest. Worst service I've ever experienced. If you are looking for a $22.00 bean and cheese burrito, go to El shitto and order four bean and cheese table spoon pancake burritos. Don't waste your hard earned dollars at El Shitto. Went here to try out a new restaurant. Meal came with salsa bar and chips and refried beans. Husband ordered horchata and it has been the best we've had locally; not gritty and had good flavor. I had a house margarita and it tasted very salty. Told the waitress and she gave me a new one, much better. Food was very good. Price was normal for the type of restaurant. Service was quick and they paid attention, I even got a free dessert to take home for the mess up on the margarita. We will definitely be back. read more

My mother and I went to have lunch and we were seated and told that the menu was now online to support the no contact of today's "new normal" . After scanning the QR code I could not bring up the menu. My mother could but it was very blurry and hard to read. While we were sharing the "menu" the waitress came over to see if we were ready to order and we told her we were not and she huffed off upset that we did not order yet. She did not return until about 15 minutes later and took our order. After about another 30-40 minutes later we got our food, cold and wrong!! I had ordered a shredded beef enchilada and Received a ground beef instead and my mother had ordered a cheese enchilada and Received a shredded beef. Our waitress did not return until she brought the check. Needless to say we will not be going back!!! Between my 1st visit with NO service and this visit with VERY POOR service, I am severely disappointed. If I can give less then 1star I would! I had been experiencing something of a taco drought, having spent the past year living in central Alberta. While visiting family in Greeley, I requested we hit up El Cielo so I could get my fix. This place does not disappoint. The prices are reasonable, the portions are great, and, above all, they make small, authentic street-style tacos. I was in heaven! Worst food ever. You can judge a Mexican restaurant best by simply having a taco in my opinion. Literally ZERO flavor in the ground beef. Tasted like it was cooked in boiling water. Having been a chef most of my life I don't know a single line cook, chef, owner, manager or anyone else who would serve that. I asked why it looked as it someone had soaked my taco in water, the response, that's not water. So I looked at him, waiting for the rest of his response. He looked at me as if waiting to be excused from my table. Not to mention the bus boy who wiped a table down, swept a knife from under the table then used the knife to attempt to wipe a crumb off the table he just cleaned. We went last night with a party of 7. We started eating the complementary bean dip and immediately found a hair in it! The crazy thing was when we pointed it out to the waitress she just said "oh yeah there it is, are you ready to order?" That unconcerned attitude was consistent throughout the entire meal. Someone ordered fajitas and it didn't come with all these sides and the waitress acted annoyed when they asked for them. I ordered a chile relleno and it tasted like bleach. I complained and sent it back. When we got the ticket they had only taken half the price of the meal off the ticket. When I asked why she explained that half of the other food on the plate had been eaten. I did have a couple of bites of the beans before trying the chile relleno but definitely not half. You'll walk in, have someone look blankly at you until you tell them the number of people in your party then be told you'll only have to wait about 10 minutes. In my case, I placed a to go order, was told the wait would be thirty minutes. After an hour, I asked if they could check on my order and the server brought me my food freezing cold. They've moved across the street to 3645 10th St. where the old Flamingo Liquors used to be. Last night, the dinner crowd was hopping! Old timer ranchers, singles, Hispanic families, multi-generational gringo families, oil field trash (hey! it's a compliment!) and others obviously enjoying themselves and the food. Went there last week with a ravenous appetite and excited to try a new place! Ordered the grilled steak; over-cooked to the extent that I couldn't even chew, let alone swallow it, plus my beans and rice was cold. Sent it back, ordered the grilled chicken, much better, yet the refried beans was like soup. Too bad for me, I was starving. The salsa and bean dip was good. My boyfriend ordered a beef burrito. We love El Cielo! The Greeley area is really hurting in terms of good restaurants, but this is definitely one of the better ones. Their food is well priced, the atmosphere is fun, and the food is really great (and, like another reviewer mentioned, consistent). Some reviewers have mentioned the beans are soupy, but I like that especially when they bring a dish out with chips instead of salsa like some restaurants. Their salsa bar is awesome, I highly recommend the roasted chili one. I also find their food to be consistent with authentic Mexican cuisine (including the "soupy" beans). The staff is friendly and welcoming, and finally the Micheladas are divine! Go get yourself some. read more
