The restaurant served delicious food. I have a couple of suggestions. First, your prices should match the menu you have posted online. My order of tacos de alambre with cheese, was $3.40 more. The tacos de alambe with cheese were also $3.40 more. its extremely important that your information online is accurate. The second was that my beef tacos de alambre with cheese, were supposed to be grilled onions, the onions were almost completely raw. Also, my orddr had half onions the other half was meat, a tad of green pepper, and a bit of cheese. I think if I liked raw onions, maybe it would be acceptable. I only like grilled onions. Using an excess of this ingredient, and trying to eat them practically raw, ruined my meal. The reason I know the quantity is because I had to pick the onions out from order. Sometimes, you just want a decent, simple tacos without all the extra toppings. El Cometa is definitely where you can find that - drunk or sober. Location - Located on Mesa near the UTEP area, there's plenty of parking but if you're coming after 2am (after all the bars/clubs close), it might be a bit scarce. Ambiance - Indoor and outdoor seating with lots of seating. They need it with the kind of crowds they get. Service - You order at the front and pay. The food gets out to you fairly quickly depending on the crowd. Food - Al Pastor con Queso and the horchata. Do yourself a favor and order it. It's just simple, delicious goodness. The taco dishes also come with 6 tacos each, so I've always shared with someone else. 3/person seems to do the trick for me. Pricing - Cheap prices for the quality and amount of food you get. No wonder why this place is so popular. Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely know where to go if I'm craving tacos! Just a heads up though, this place is super popular with the bar/club scene after 2am once everything closes. It can get really busy, but there's a good reason for this. FLAUTAS FLAUTAS FLAUTAS! that's what you should order when you're here, everyone goes to chico's tacos for fake taquitos/flautas, these are the real thing, with tomato, avocado, sour cream, crumbled cheese and the best salsas! it's my favorite dish to get here, of course if you're craving tacos the pastor and asada are excellent. Remember this is a REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food restaurant; I went with a friend a week ago and she was surprised because they didn't have "chili beans" or other tex-mex things, I LOVE THOSE but don't expect to have that in here. Another thing EL COMETA may be one of my favorite go to restaurants for after a night of drinking or just any day that I crave flautas, with that being said I believe if you have the chance to visit the locations in Juarez they'll be 10x better. read more

I love this place, for the fact that the location on Zaragoza is open super late when most other places are closed. Their tacos, and flautas are delicious at a very good price. God! Their baked papas with all the butter in them are also mouth watering good. Just thinking of them makes me want to go now. When all the tables are taken, I love that the waiters are on it. If someone leaves they're there quickly cleaning the table off so more people can sit down. Overall I personally think this is a wonderful restaurant. read more

I'm from the 956. That being written, I know my tacos. Traveling from Arizona, where I have yet to like a Mexican restaurant, my family and I were in need of some good tacos. We found it! You order tacos, but you have to assemble at your table. They were tasty , the agua de jamaica was great! We lacked the cup of charro beans we usually get at our places in south Texas, but they do have baked potatoes prepared with cheese, butter, and Mexican cream. Service was quick and friendly. Salsa bar has limes, pico de gallo, green tomatillo salsa, habanero salsa, and avocado salsa. They could have been spicier, but we could not have been more satisfied. read more

This is a locals spot i accidentally ran into. The price is loud, a bit grimy hole in the wall feel that makes you think your in a dinner not so much a restaurant. You look at the menu and order at the register, the cashier was an older lady that seemed not in the greatest mood. U then grab ur table then check out the salsa bar, i enjoyed all the sauces. As i sat and looked around waiting for my order i noticed all ages groups sitting around and as people left more came, this is a good sign means food is fresh and it must be good... So you ask why the 5 stars after i just talked poorly about the place. Its because the food was amazing, cheap and fills you up! Thats why they can be rude cause they know they are good at what they do! Places like these are what great food is all about! And i highly suggest you visit and try the carne con queso burrito and the oven baked papa con queso and the rolled tacos! read more

Amazing service! I had a good experience. They have improved their ordering process. I called in the order for 4 people. They do require that we pay over the phone if we call it in. I think that's genius because it helps speed the process. I showed up, the order was packed and ready to be picked up. It was ready in 20 mins. The prices are good! It's about $10 per person. We got flautas and because I don't eat meat, I ordered the potato flautas. They are so delicious with their in house salsas such as the guacamole sauce. The sauces were packed in cups. I highly recommend this restaurant. Very affordable, I avoid dining in at places so I don't dine in. If you're like me, take it to go. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite. The restaurant wasn't very full when we arrived. We walked right up to the counter to order. The cashier gave us attitude like she was doing us a favor by gracing us with her presence. She had a very sour attitude. We placed our oder and made our way to a table where our waitress (and older woman) immediately approached. The waitress was a compliment 180 from the cashier she was extremely warm and welcoming. While we waited for our food more customers arrived the cashier was now having a conversation with 2 other restaurant employees. They all saw the people waiting in line but their conversation was more important so the customers were made to wait on them. The food was good. While we're were there a (I'm assuming) homeless man came in a young man bebehind the counter immediately started to make the man feel unwelcome. And, even told him he was calling the cops. The homeless man told them he wanted food and had money. The restaurant worker told him he was causing a disturbance (which he was not). The homeless man left and even left a dollar on the tablet. Sure enough the cops arrived shortly after and talked to him. Thankfully they let him leave. This was not a great experience they young employees treated all the customers like we owed them the right to be there. Very said for a once great establishment. Coming home to El Paso we always go to local spots. Went here cause I go to places based on reviews. Its a smaller casual restaurant. With covid going on they had great regulations, tables are spaced out, servers wearing gloves and facial coverings, they bring everything to you and cleaning wiping things up. We ordered the desabrada flautas which were phenomenal! Sometimes the flavor of meat gets lost in frying the flauta or it dries out to much but these were perfection. Topped with crema, aguacate, queso fresco, tomato, and onion which added great texture and freshness. We also ordered the al pastor and asada tacos. Flavors still in my mind with onions, peppers, and queso with cilantro, cucumber, limes, red and green Chile for fixins. Que Rico! read more

I can't believe how many times we've come to El Paso visiting our friends and they JUST NOW takes us here???? Wtf and here I thought we were all good friends. I love this place. Their beef flautas are f'ing awesome. Their spicy green salsa and avocado salsa are amazing dipping sauces for the flauta, which are loooong and you get a few so it's filling. Also had the bisteca with cheese (basically carne asada covered in shredded cheese) and that was equally tasty. Someone recommended El Cometa to us for a quick dinner stop so we decided to check it out. It's a bit of a chaotic set up when you walk in--it's really loud so it's tough to order at the counter, and then you have to find a table to wait for your food. You also scoop your own salsa and grab your own taco toppings from a bar which just adds to the chaos. The food is pretty good and came out very fast despite the place being packed. I got the tacos alambre al pastor con queso and was pretty happy with it. Good amount of food and it was tasty but nothing amazing. Best flautas ever!!! If you have never been here, it is a MUST. Their flautas are covered in crema, avocado and queso fresco and they are the the most amazing shredded beef flautas I have ever had. I also ordered tacos which were so good!! I love that you can order half orders or their food so you're able to order multiple items without being stuck with food you cant finish. The salsa bar is also great, they have so many different salsas and they are all good. The staff is very friendly and the wait time for food is minimal, even in a busy day. I always drive by telling myself that I have to stop and try this place out since it's always so busy! I finally decided to have eat lunch here with a friend around 1:30 and boyyyy was it busy! There is a little area with chairs as soon as you walk in, where you stand and wait for the waitress to sit you. Our waitress quickly ran on over and sat us down. She probably knew this was our first time dining in since we did look a little lost. She informed us to put our stuff down and head in over to the ordering counter. Walking towards the ordering counter was a challenge due to trying to avoid running into employees, other customers, and trying to navigate yourself around the winding tables. The ordering process is easy. You tell the cashier what you want and bam there you go. They have tacos, flautas, burritos, and some other dishes but we went for the flautas! After ordering, we left the counter and went right to the salsa bar. We grabbed cucumber, lemons, radishes, geeen salsa, red salsa, guacamole, and some grilled jalapeños! The dishes were brought out to us rather quickly and the waitress was very nice. GUYS THE FLAUTAS WERE DELICIOUS!!! They are loaded on top with queso fresco, onions, lettuce, drizzled sour cream, tomatoes, and they have a ton of beef inside of them!! While visiting El Paso from DFW prior to New Years we stopped to eat our usual order of flautas. We were directed to a table located right by the left of the register and we immediately got a whiff of a smelly sewer. Luckily a booth opened up and we switched seats. We began eating and every 4 to 5 minutes the smell started to come back and decided to eat as quickly as possible and leave. Our flauta plates had no tomatoes, no avocado and hardly any onion or cream. What a disappointment, we will not be eating here anymore and cannot trust the food handling is safe to eat. read more

Discovered this little gem on our recent trip to El Paso, located off I-10 and Viscount. The menu is small, pork and beef options, along with baked potatoes, but no chicken or rice and beans. The beef flautas are AMAZING, you definitely want to try them. The tacos al Pastor were delicious, one of the best I've ever had - bistec tacos, not so much. The baked potatoes are great but loaded with a ton of butter, ask for half the amount, unless you're a butter enthusiast. The salsa bar is great so make sure you get a variety (one of each) so you have something to dip their homemade tortilla chips in. I also had the horchata, but I wouldn't order it again, very bland and grainy. Looking forward to the next time we visit, flautas so good we ordered them twice! read more

First time I attempted to try, the lines were out the door! To me, a great sign of good food so decided to come back another time. Glad we did! The flautas are crispy and generously filled. They are topped with queso fresco and lettuce and tomato, etc. They have a great salsa bar but I can't tell you which salsa to try first since they are all very good. The chips they initially bring to the table are very crispy and salted just right. Very hard to stop eating them once they come out! The staff is friendly and very efficient. Visiting my son and he likes this place so we stopped. It was a very busy Monday afternoon, as we entered it looked clean and I observed tables being bussed. We all ordered the burritas and drinks. The salsa bar was busy- we tried all of the salsa, green was ok, red was good but spicy & thick, best was the guacamole salsa. Our food arrived hot and was very good. Saw this local restaurant when passing through El Paso, Texas. They have a straight forward menu and everything was relatively inexpensive. This place was super busy when we came. They did their best to refill drinks and take our plates away when we were done but it seemed like they were frantic with the high volume of people at the restaurant. It's great that they didn't try to make any excuses and just worked hard to make sure we got our food in a timely manner. The restaurant is pretty much one big open room with a bunch of tables and chairs. It has that local feel to it. The food was excellent. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. The free chips and salsa were great. There is a ton of parking in front of the store so you won't have to park far away and walk. read more
