I love this el diablo! They have the best customer service compared to the other locations. I'm a chipotle girl so I was a bit apprehensive to try them out. I'm glad I did. The ingredients are fresh and they have fish! I love a nice fish taco. I will say I wouldn't suggest getting the recommended ingredients for your tacos or burritos, they seem to over do it. I like that there are options on the walls for how to combine ingredients for various burritos, but there are too many burrito options already on Main Street in Newark. There is something that Chipotle has El Diablo doesn't have. Maybe it's the impact of flavor you get when you munch into your burrito bowl. I feel that El Diablo has a lot more choices but it's the idea that the more you get the better it will taste. Chipotle even though there's less ingredients---the more or less that you put it'll still taste great. Nevertheless, I'll stil go to El Diablo. read more

I decided to give El Diablo a shot and it was definitely a hit. The place has a wide variety of toppings (like spicy pineapple) and sauces. I decided to get the steak burrito bowl with mushrooms, sour cream, lettuce, red onions, cilantro, spicy pineapple, jalapeños, a 50-50 split between brown and white rice. The veggies seemed to be pretty fresh, steak was not overcooked and the serving size was enormous. The seating arrangement was defiantly nicer than chipotle since they had wooden tables and vinyl/composite leather seats. This is definitely a plus over chipotle's lack of options and strange seating arrangement/ tables that resemble an anatomy lab. Overall El Diablo is a solid choice for a quick lunch especially if u don't feel like eating something really greasy. read more

I was here doing a music gig and working for a company as well, when someone pointed out that I should try the burritos at this shop. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how good it was. They had "Kale" as one of the choices which was something I had never seen before. Their selection is comparable to Chipotle, just slightly more generous. The Ambiance isn't as popular as the Chipotle I saw down the street, but what it lacks in Ambiance it make up in their food choices. I gave it a 4 star because they were pleasant and the food was generous and I felt like I got a Bang for my Buck. Again I might be Bias when it comes to prices , because I have traveled and lived in California and New York. Also Traveling alongside Route 66 you see all different sets of prices. In the end I would recommend this place as of right now I was happy with my order. read more

El Diablo is way better than the other Mexican places in Newark, but your also going to pay for it. I feel its over priced, but when I get invited to go eat with people I'm going to say yes. getting a bowl is the best deal. Chips are pretty good but really overpriced. Started going here as soon as it opened and haven't looked back. They serve the best quesadillas I've ever eaten. Burrito Bowls are bigger than across the street. The Chips and Queso are always a nice bonus to any meal. The service is consistently friendly. I hate when people start their update reviews with "UPDATE," so instead I'll lead with that statement. I gave El Diablo another chance, and was pleasantly surprised. I think they make the best burritos of their little circle of competitors, but the problem is that that's all they have. Moe's and CT both have the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine and they both have desserts, and the chips and queso/guacamole they have are flavorful. Diablo has some weird locally-brewed soda, no desserts, and some of the worst tasting guacamole I've ever experienced. If you're looking for a burrito, and JUST a burrito, then Diablo is your place to go, but don't expect much more. read more

Far better than chipotle for about the same price. The quesadillas are huge and delicous, definitely my favorite thing on the menu. You can get any topping you would normally get on a burrito on a quesadilla here, including sauces. There's a lot of options (3 types of peppers, 2 types of pico, 2 types of cheese, carmelized onions ect).The line moves very quickly despite almost always being to the door. My only complaint is that there isn't a lot of seating inside, so I usually have to take it to go. read more

Excellent burritos, both veggie and meat! It's certainly the best Mexican place in town--or nearby. It also has interesting types of soda drinks--watermelon, cola, lemon mint and other non traditional flavored. The food was edible, there's no denying that, but that was the only thing about it that made it seem like food. It was the blandest Mexican food I've ever had. I have a feeling the toppings were taste tested by Scandinavians or something. Don't get me wrong, it's not awful, just unremarkable. The meat tasted like nothing at all, as did the rice and beans. I asked for the spiciest hot sauce they had, and it didn't really have a taste to it, it just made my mouth feel hot, which I don't think is a flavor. Besides the bland food, the place did have one of those cool soda machines with the sugar cane cola that I love. Although I did quit drinking sugary beverages, I do remember those sodas being good from a few years back, so I'll say that helped the restaurant score points with me. All in all, go there if other people are, but don't be the person suggesting to your friends that you go there. read more

I love this place. It's like a step up from Chipotle. There are so many more options for toppings! They also have brisket, fish, and mushrooms if you want to change it up from chicken or steak. My only complaint is the pineapple salsa. I love spicy, I always get hot salsa but it's an overload paired with the pineapple salsa. It would be great if they had a medium pineapple salsa. read more

If I could change anything about it it would be to magically transport it far from downtown Newark so that parking would be easier. Since I really like the other place across the street, I was reluctant to try this but kept hearing really good reviews, like it was better then the other place well, it is! The ingredients seem fresher and a better variety like sauteed mushrooms and pickled stuff...yum! Steak bowl was huge and the steak had no fat or chewy/hard pieces...like some other places. Nice atmosphere and staff. A little more expensive but worth it...I now don't see a need to go anywhere else. read more
