Talk about never judging a book by its cover! This place is in a rougher part of town, the place itself isn't glamorous and parking is non existent but the bread... oh the amazing bread. Some of the best Mexican bread in town. They have everything from bolillos, conchas, polvorones and empanadas to some of the favorite hangover breakfasts like menudo, Barbacoa, and burritos. I'm personally don't like menudo or barbacoa but I swing by this place every Saturday to pick up breakfast for everyone at work since they love it! I usually stick to the delicious freshly baked bread! try the burritos! they are made with homemade tortillas... they are sooooo good and about $3.50 each alot cheaper then the 'burritos alinstante' next door... the chile verde ones are hott and good and the chile rojo ones will have you asking for more. Menudo lovers, this review is for you. Pan dulce aficionados, this one is for you too. El Dorado Bakery is were the people convene for some of the best menudo in Albuquerque. They come in small and large bowls. The flavor is spot on and the tripe is incredible - no stink or aftertaste. On a Saturday, this place is nuts! They're constantly baking pan dulce and constantly stocking its many shelves of Mexican favorites. Each piece costs 75 cents! They happen to have some of the best empanadas I've tried in the Southwest. I tried the pumpkin one, the cherry one, and took some more pastries to go. They held up an extra day and were perfect the next morning with a cup of coffee. Our experience was lovely, the location is okay; I recommend parking on the street. A lot of the younger staff is bilingual, so no need to worry about a language barrier. Do not pass up on this place, there is so much to discover on this road to El Dorado! read more

Delicious, very friendly, and helpful. I loved almost everything we got, especially the concha and biscochitos (best I've tried so far). Lots of options, and everything looked good. The prices are also very good (65 cents for bread, 80 cents for pastries). They weren't the most covid-safe (no masks on that I saw), but that's within CDC guidelines so I'm fine with it... maybe send in the vaccinated person though. read more

This place is not fancy--not at all, but it has large, tasty, cheap pastries. We ordered a huge sweet roll, a soft pastry with frosting, a chocolate cup-cake and a couple turnovers. A little over five dollars. I didn't see any good coffee, but I may have overlooked it. It is a very humble place not trendy... but it was authentic. The workers were helpful and friendly. This is a delicious Mexican bakery located in the South part of Albuquerque. They have a wide variety of Mexican baked goods as well as freshly baked rolls. On the weekends the bakery is packed to the gills was hungry customers many of them enjoying a big bowl of menudo. I've never eaten here besides the baked goods but the scent of the restaurant / Bakery is Heavenly. I've also seen people enjoying tamales or getting tamales to go. From my understanding you can call in your order which is always convenient. This spot reminds me of going to the bakeries with my parents when I was a child getting one of those trays and the tongs and picking out the delicious baked goods and carrying them to the counter. It's a Wonderful childhood memory for me and I'm happy to introduce this to my granddaughter so she can also have a happy memory of going to a pleasant and authentic Mexican bakery. Pan dulce selections on a Monday were pretty limited and taste was ordinary at best. Place (inside and out) has seen better days. The flour tortillas by the counter looked excellent though... So far, this is the best menudo in town. I am always looking for the best menudo, but so far, these guys at El Dorado Panaderia have the best menudo. They also have fully-stocked shelves with conchas, maranitos, muffins, galletas...you know, the usual fare for a panaderia. I think Helen's Bakery has better bolillos, but El Dorado's are good. Went there today, menudo was raw and hard, clearly not cooked thoroughly. Ordered a large, there was a large bone in there with lots of pork skin, that was not cooked, tasted raw. The bone took up lots of room in the cup, so not much menudo, threw it all away after just a few bites. The bread was good. read more

The menudo is also good. But aside from that my favorite is the burritos that they sell. They are very generous with the meat that they serve in them burritos. I recommend this place. This place has some of the best burritos and pastries I've had to date! The green Chile cheese burrito was wrapped in an amazing homemade tortilla, and the pastries were incredibly fresh. They were amazingly well priced, and you get plenty of food for what you do pay. The service was great too! The people running the front were very friendly and helpful! I've been coming here for years by far the best Menudo in town and I eat Menudo everywhere I go. The owner is a great guy really nice and if you're lucky enough to get his son as your server he takes pride in what they have. Great Local family bakery.There's a couple other locations but by far the Gibson location the original can't beat the cook that's been there for years!!! The only thing stopping me from putting 5 stars is the fact that the shop isn't pretty and quaint (YET)- other than that the bread is ridiculously delicious and fresh, and the price is equally delightful. 75 cents for 1 pan dulce. This place is one delicious cultural treasure! Yes, the exterior looks a little rough, but the portions are HUGE, the food is good and the price is right. Over time I've tried just about everything they have to offer and it's all authentic and delicious. They also make specialty cakes too. Their tres leches is delicious. We had them make our wedding cakes (There were 10!) and they did a wonderful job. (We had a very large wedding at the Albuquerque Museum.) We've been married 10 years and I STILL get people coming up to me talking about how one of the only things they remember about my wedding is the cake. The frosting is light and not overly sweet but also stable enough to withstand sitting out for an entire reception. The guy who makes the cakes (Roberto) is a creative genius. He designed a beautiful and elegant design that fit our wedding. I can't say enough good things about this place. Don't let the exterior fool you. So brush up on your 10th grade Spanish and head down to the valley to experience a south-of-the boarder mouthwatering wonder. This is truly one of the best hidden gems of Albuquerque! read more

I have to admit I just don't write reviews. But have meant to write this for a while. By far the best Mexican bread I've had since my dad used to take me to La Fama bakery in Kansas City Missouri as a child.The burritos are great too. The staff get you in and out when there busy surprisingly quick. The couple dozen times I've been it's been the freshest pastries I've gotten in Albuquerque and just has that really consistent great taste and just baked freshness you just don't get at corporate chain bakeries or grocery stores. My wife who grew up working in a fancy bakery as a souses chef pointed out to me the perfection in size and decoration of every pastry. Not easy to do consistently. She is convinced it has to be the same baker making everything. His wife and he reminded me of how my mom and dad could work hand and hand with each other when cooking for our large family on holidays. At the risk of screwing my self and them selling out more often you have to try this place if you love fresh breads cookies and food. read more
