    Empanada Cazon Venezuelan Hot Dog
    Johanny A.

Recently renovated. Cozy spot with all Venezuelan dishes from arepitas frita con nata to empanadas de cazón & sopa de gallina, frescolita, Malta y jugo de parchita. Drove 20 minutes and this place feels like home every time. Everyone is always welcoming. Recommend 100%.

Demasiado tiempo de espera. (45 min por dos empanadas). Deberían tener las empanadas listas. No pienso volver ni recomendar.

This is exactly what a PR bakery should be, happy music playing in the background of a cozy shop decorated with flags and frogs. Love it! Angel was working the counter, and he happily showed and discussed the menu. We settled on a Huevo de Jamon & Queso (Egg with ham and cheese), which came out flaky, and delicious, toasted and pressed flat, plus a Bavarian Cream horn pastry because I like sweet stuff, then I grabbed a tray of pastries because people at the office like sweet stuff too. Service was already great, but then the owner Diana came out to meet me and handed over a fresh baked loaf of PR sweet bread as a gift! It's a little out of my way for an everyday breakfast stop but you owe it to yourself to come and try this place at least once!

The owner offered us some fresh bread baked that morning since it was our first time there. The bread was fresh, airy, and slighty sweet. A great rendition of a sweet italian loaf. The bacalaito guisado was fantastic. It had yuca, potato (yellow, white, and sweet), squash, avocado on top, as well as plaintain and of course the salted cod itself. It was well seasoned and stuck to your ribs. The empanada de pulpo had perfectly tender octopus and a superior crispy crunchy empanda shell that was the culmination of expertly crafted dough and a fry to perfection. I could not highly recommend this place more. The feel is very homey and they make you feel like one of the fam. It is only open untol 5 as it is a lunch, breakfast, or early dinner kind of place so plan accordingly. However, male sure to include it in your plans and pick up some pastries for the next day. Our Guayaba and Guayaba y queso were both to die for.

The whole team is polite and professional and the food is out of this world. The ambiance is so lively and fun. They are super clean and attentive. However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper.

I'm So happy That I came in. I was the only one here, so the food was fast, fresh and prompt. I got a chicken and a steak taco and a Gatorade (it's got electrolytes). I ended up absolutely destroying my meal and it was as authentic as you can get. None of that cheap Taco Bell stuff here, this is the real deal. Delicious!!! They also have a some little shelves in the back with some misc. stuff for sale. My only complaint would be he atmosphere. Not really the place to take a date, but definitely the place to get food to go. Maybe pick up some authentic Mexican food from here to go and head to the beach Overall, come here if you want 5 star food at a inexpensive price, just don't be expecting a a 5 star atmosphere.

They put a couple of pool tables in the space they have next to the main dining room. Big kitchen where the fresh ingredients are all around for you to see. It's a market as well so some basic staples are on the back shelf. People are super nice here and everything is made to order with great fresh ingredients. A bit off the Lake Avenue main drag, it's worth coming over here. Lupitas up the way may be long on restaurant polish, but their food is tired and fast foody. By contrast Del Sur will give you a foot long burrito that's totally legit and made with love. Plenty of parking on the side and rear of the restaurant. Grab the horchata and try the flan for dessert. A great off the beaten path to try out!
