This is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in the area. They have the BEST rice and beans I have ever tasted in my life. Get the enchiladas rancheras and you won't be disappointed! Found this place on yelp while visiting in OC... I was starving and was by myself (I don't like eating out alone!). As I was walking to the restaurant from parking down the street (this place has an overflow parking lot!) I started to smell a yummy aroma that was very familiar.. Mexican food! I have been coming here for about 15 years now and it seems to be that the only thing getting better than the food, is the service. Yes the restaurant will get busy. It has a great food and a great reputation so expect to wait during prime eating hours. However, even when busy you can expect great service. The prices are surprisingly affordable for the amount of food you are served. Their coffee is probably my favorite part to my breakfast meals. They mix it with cinnamon making it taste like no ordinary coffee. I recommend the carne asada. It's always fresh, delicious, and so easy to chew and cut. They serve it with beans, rice, pico de Gallo, and grilled jalapeños. Just writing this review makes me want to drive down. Highly recommend. read more

The only positive thing I can say about El Farolito is it is cheap. We drove down from the foothills because we were looking for a new Mexican restaurant to try, and they had a lot of favorable Yelp reviews, so we thought we'd give it a try. The chips were greasy and tasted like grease. The salsa was watery and very hot. We asked if they had a more moderate option, and were told there was none. Ironically, we heard the people at the table behind us ask exactly the same thing because it was too hot for them too. I like spicy/hot, but this was inedible. We had margaritas that tasted like we were drinking a glass of watered down sweet and sour. No hint or taste of tequila, and we even ordered Cadillacs. The food was tasteless, but plentiful. We ate about 1/3 of our meals and declined a take home box as the food wasn't worth packing up to take home. Definitely would not return, but it appears to be a viable option for people looking for a cheap restaurant to feed a family at a low price. If you want good Mexican food and good drinks, El Farolito is not the place to go. If you want mediocre plentiful food and drinks at a low price, this is a good spot to try. read more

Only been here twice, but I can already say that I love this place. The first time I came, I ordered a Jumbo Burrito Wet Burrito with a side of rice and beans. The second time, I ordered the Carne Asada Plate. For both orders, the portions were so big, I couldn't finish them and needed to take them home. I also ordered a Mango Margarita and a cup of Horchat, which were both nice and perfect to accompany my meal. As for location, the restaurant sits on Bradford, in the heart of Old Town Placentia. Palm trees and the Placentia Watertower both overlook the restaurant. Parking can be a bit hard at times since the parking lot and street parking aren't as plentiful as most people would like. The restaurant is extremely popular, and crowded at most times. They get alot of to-go orders as well whichh puts a small strain on service, but do not let that affect how excellent their service is despite have so much foot traffic in and out of their restaurant. The server we got was the nicest person alive. She helped us with recommendations and portions. She was really patient with us and provided for a smooth experience. We left home with a satisfied stomach and a great mood because of the delicious food and excellent service. read more
