From the moment we walked in no one approached or greeted us. A waitress passing by just pointed to a both so we sat there. The booth behind us who came after we arrived got service before us. We ordered a seafood tower and camarones wrapped in bacon. The seafood tower looked picture perfect but tasted like fish. There was no fish in the tower. And I don't care if we are land locked seafood fit for consumption shouldn't taste/smell like fish from the get go. The waitress lectured us on nothing is fresh because we are land locked and when I expressed my concern about not wanting to get food poisoning she simply told me you are not going to get sick. Bascially we didn't think we should pay for the tower since we took maybe 4 bites total and wwre willing to pay for the michelada and my shrimp dish which I didn't finish because I didn't think the bacon was cooked all the way through. The waitress now manager said it says in the menu nonrefunds on seafood dishes but wouldn't show me where on the menu. I won't be back. Terrible service with no intentions to make it right. read more

California transplant. Best Mexican food my husband and I have found in the greater Denver area so far. The carnitas de puerco top any carnitas I have ever had (and I love carnitas so I have eaten a lot or them :)). The fajitas were pretty damn good too! The food is always absolutely delicious! I love the patio but you sometimes get forgotten out there inside is nice too. The service is hit and miss sometimes you'll get a good waitress but sometimes they make you feel like your walking into their house and it's not a very warm welcome. It has very traditional feel to it and with my experience they seem to give better service if your with someone that speaks Spanish unless you have a young waitress. My daughter introduced me to this place. We went there for lunch. I consider myself a Mexican food snob, being for California, where Mexican food restaurants are plenty. The neighborhood may not be ideal, and you might be skeptical based on the outside appearance. But don't judge a book by it's cover. This is a nice family ran restaurant, with a friendly staff. I tend to get a feel for how my meal might be based on the taste of the salsa and chips. I've found that good salsa is a positive sign of what's to come. They did not disappoint. We had an excellent meal that was hearty and tasty. Chicken, Fajita steak, Shrimp, green onions, cactus, and chorizo, fresh, and hot in a bowl made of stone. That in itself was pretty cool. Went for lunch today. Only ones in the places at noon. While food was good the service was beyond bad. Waitress brought 1 salsa & 1 bowl of chips for 4, we asked for more numerous times & were basically ignored. Ordered margaritas (which were good) wanted another but was never given the opportunity, 1 of us would order & shes leave, tooo 15 min for all four of us to order.water was never refilled, half our order was not what we ordered but she never showed back up at our table to find that out. Never given a ticket... finally got up and ran her down from talking in a booth w another employee to pay. read more

The food is very authentic - a lot of seafood available (almost too much) it is majority of their menu. The flavors were good but it's expensive for Mexican food. Nice local place but I wish they had more options for tacos. read more

OK- seriously I gave this place two tries to make sure it was as good as I thought it was the first time. Holy shit! I'm obsessed!! My bf and I just moved out here from LA and yeah we're Mexican food snobs. When you've lived in LA your entire life you'll know why. Moving to Colorado we've had no luck in finding authentic Mexican food. What people consider "authentic" out here is a little interesting, but I won't get too deep into that. This was the most disgusting place I have tried in a long time. The chili relleno tasted sour, no beansin the burrito, chicharones were soggy, and when I told the server about the relleno she just said, oh, ok. Prices are way to high for this garbage and service. The first time I want here I thought- it's cute..this old Renovated Taco Bell. However- the food was wonderful! The plates are huge! The queso fundido (melted white Mexican cheese with chili strips served with warm tortillas as an appetizer is my favorite)! Wow. We have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant here (Denver area). I'm from The south / Texas and green chili covered everything is NOT what I am searching for, so let me preface this post by saying that if you think a Mexican restaurant is good because they have green chili, this post won't be very helpful, because I subbed my green chili topper for red chili sauce. But, the rich, flavorful tastes that I have been after were delivered and exceeded my hopes. The sauce was complex, and I could tell it had been simmered for a long time to let the flavors of the different chilis and seasonings meld and develop. The cheese enchilada was AMAZING and tasted like a cheese enchilada should. The rice was fluffy, tortillas homemade, and the taco was flavorful and crisp, not salty and soggy. My boyfriend got a platter that had steak, pork, and shrimp, and he finished EVERY bite (which is saying a lot because it was huge!). The meat was tender, cooked to perfection, moist, and flavorful. All of the staff was very friendly. They all smiled when they passed (maybe because of his happy plate) but nonetheless they were engaging and looked like they were enjoying their job. He also ordered flan for dessert, and I got the fried ice cream. He said the flan was the "real deal", not a boxed imitation that you get a lot of places. The fried ice cream had a special treat because it had nuts (we think pecans) inside that gave it a little something extra. So very good, and if you are a Tex-Mex, red chili sauce person like me, I can't recommend it enough. Glad to have finally found somewhere that can satisfy the urge. Oh, and the salsa was PERFECT! I have always gotten excellent service here, really the best of any restaurant I've been to in the Denver area. I echo what others have said about the staff being friendly and welcoming. So I keep coming back every month or so. Food is also good. I do wish they had a few more vegetarian options on the menu like spinach burritos or enchiladas, that's my only suggestion. read more

Three stars for food but if I could rate the service separately it would get two stars. Not bad, not good food and the service was very spotty. Shrimp dishes my companions had were comprised of quite a large portion of quite large shrimp. The shrimp in bacon was particularly good as the bacon was crisp without the shrimp being overdone. My tacos al carbon were very juicy and flavorful but the side of mostly dry flavorless rice ruined the plate. Others at my table said the beans were rich and creamy. Certainly is well priced and the beer is very inexpensive. Service was plain awful - once orders were taken we were pretty much abandoned and never got water refilled or could order a second round of drinks. Plus the restaurant was boiling hot. We lucked out by being seated near the horchata machine that blew cold air on us or we would have been fried. Speaking of fried, skip the sopapillas which were a soggy oily mess. We ended up not eating them. The server didn't even notice we hardly touched the plate. Empty plates from dinner were still sitting in front of us when the dessert came out. read more
