Pleasantly surprised, The Location is Excellent. Tucked away in a flea market style setting you cant miss this place. The food was delicious and portion are large. The staff are all very friendly and inviting. There is a private lot for parking and there are plenty of sites to see.

Absolutely delicious, came during this cold hot gloomy weather craving some home made tortillas . This place is a little difficult to find because their is about 3 other restaurants inside the building but worth the search. The mulita was fresh and the avocado and chipotle made it a perfect combination. My daughter loved the corn elote. The guacamole was different almost tasted like ceviche but delicious non the less. The sope was probably my favorite, as I enter into my food coma this is probably one I'd get again for sure What I wouldn't recommend is the shrimp cocktail had a bitter taste to it . I tried adding sauces to make it tasty but I simply couldn't. Finally but not least the molcajete, it was probably the best we've ever had. Shrimp/chicken/steak /cheese/onions/jalapeño/cactus with a spicy hot salsa over it . 10/10 would recommend We finished our meal off with 2 aguas frescas , we had a Jamaica which if you know you know and this beverage could've had a bit more Jamaica flavor And an horchata very classic drink the cinnamon was a bit on the strong side but if you like cinnamon it's very tasty. Please come give this place a try

Delicious!! I'm having the Chile Verde and it tastes great! Just enough fat on the meat and nice pieces of nopales. I will stop by here again & again. The service is incredibly nice too.

Outdoor dining and fresh chips w amazing salsa!

El Gallito is now in Mercadito (Mercado de Los Angeles) in Boyle Heights. They have outdoor seating, good chips, good salsa, and good food! I had a quesadilla with carne asada, and a gordita. Sooo bomb!

    Molcajete, so delicious.

Food was great, service was lagged. It took several minutes and trips to get items to our table. We asked for some items more than twice and still went without some of those requested items cause we just gave up lol. I would chalk this up to understaffing, at no point were they rude to us or bad attitude. We ordered the Molcajete and Marisco shareable plate and split this between 3 of us. Was more than enough food, the molcajete came with some delicious handmade yellow corn tortilla and the mariscos with option of saltines or tostadas. We opted for both, they brought us over extra since we were sharing. If you've never had a molcajete do yourself a favor and order it, but make sure to share because it is lots of food. It's a mixture of chorizo, chicken, steak, shrimp doused in salsa with fried cheese seared nopal, grilled jalapenos and sauteed onions. Would definitely come back on a not so busy day where staff can be more attentive to all customers.

Worst food ever, the chips where all burnt, the side of rice and bean where the worst of all the beans were all dried out and the rice as well , and the Carne Asada Gordita was so oily. So disappointed of this restaurant.

I was looking forward to trying this place out since the last time I came it was super busy. I ordered a gordita and a sope. I was honestly very disappointed with my food. It was greasy, my sope had no salsa and the only salsa that was provided to us was the chip salsa. The carne asada on my dish was salty.

Steak picado. Around $13.00. Was ehh but you might like it.

El Gallito is located in El Mercadito. The food here is super good and authentic. Taste better than any mexican restaurants I tried so far. The prices here aren't bad and the food here is nothing to complain about. The sizes are good for a Hungry person. Usually not that busy but sometimes it is a wait in the line restaurant, probably cause it is super good! The meat here is super juicy, tasty and good! From chicken to carne asada they have it. Except lengua. Anyways, if you are stopping by El Mercadito don't forget to stop by El Gallito and try everything! You won't regret it at all!

The gorditas and guacamole are the best. The chips are made there fresh. I wouldn't recommend the fish tacos because they're tiny, you're better off buying them from a mariscos restaurant somewhere else. Here you come for the gorditas and hand made quesadillas

I've come here several times and I always enjoy my food and service but this last time I came the food did not seem to taste very fresh or great tasting as usual. For a Saturday mid day I would expect better quality food. Maybe because it was Easter weekend and they expected a rush of people so they prob made the food a day or two before so that they would be set for Saturday thus then downfall in freshness. Anyhow that's just my guess. On the plus side, the bill was cheap and so it didn't bother me as much had it been super expensive. I will come back again to give them another chance since it was prob a bad day.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

They guide you to the entrance which about one hundred feet north. Walking in you're shown many awards, culminating in a 2025 Michelin. There must have been a special occasion to be welcomed by music that was incredibly loud. We sat down, and I couldn't hear myself think, or the waiters voices. We asked for another table, but unfortunately that brought a certain type of attitude from the host. I'm sure the music would have been nice if it wasn't as loud, on amplified speakers. After finally being seated, near the bar, the service seemed great. Seating seemed plentiful, but I can now see why a reservation is necessary. To start, the appetizer we chose was a queso fundido which was ok on their smaller tortillas. I must have been spoiled by Chalio's homemade giant tortillas. Chalio's on Atlantic by the way. Guelageutza uses sautéed mushrooms, and they garnished it with this guacamole that didn't really taste that good. Mushrooms on the fundido didn't seem right, but individually they tasted great. The chorizo was ok. My gf likes to try those types of apps. They're not known for that, so I can let it pass. Our order was taken, food was quick, and hot. The attentiveness of the staff was good, but their smiles were absent. Must have had a long day. I got the black Mole chicken, my gf got the enchilada negras(black mole) topped with their tesajo. My dish was good, hot, and full of mole, which was delicious as well. They served it with their tiny homemade corn tortillas. They have several types of mole. My gf got the enchiladas Oaxaceñas and it looked good until I took a bite of the enchiladas. They just poured mole over the tortillas and that's where the flavor went flat. The tortillas were dry and not dipped in the sauce. Traditionally in my family, we fry our tortillas lightly in oil, or lard, and roll them in the sauce. My gf didn't even finish them. I ate all of my meal, and I took her enchiladas home. They were even worse as leftovers. I tried to order their traditional flan, but they had ran out, so I ordered their tres leches. It was ok. I was really disappointed that they ran out of flan though. All in all, this establishment was ok. The atmosphere seemed very manufactured, but I've never had the pleasure of visiting Oaxaca. The mole negro was delicious on the chicken. Seeing that It was recommended on Yelp, I agreed with the statement of picking that dish. The bathrooms were great with a good amount of stalls. I can't say that about a lot of good delicious Mexican food restaurants here in LA. They seem to be more of an afterthought with some. Reminding myself this was Michelin rated restaurant, I didn't get that same feeling with the food though. This now, will give me an excuse to look into why a restaurant is rated as such to understand why that matters so much.
