This place has a nice ambience, food is good. I am not sure how I feel about the drinks though.....I ordered the biggest margarita and it was all really just sugar that made me feel all bloated afterwards. Maybe I need to try smaller drinks and other variety as well. Service was great! Also when I complained about the drink, they did add another shot without any charge. Would definitely go back, and recommend this place to everyone.

Yesenia is a WONDERFUL server! The margarita's are FANTASTIC! And I say this from extensive experience this is the BEST Mexican food I've ever had! Loved the ambiance the music was good and at a level that allowed for intimate conversation. Didn't feel like I had to tell to be heard by my dinning companions. Go soon and enjoy the food and margaritas!!

First time going to this restaurant. Experience and customer service were pretty good. Food was flavorful. They have a playground set inside, for kids, which was unusual and interesting. Servers were pretty helpful. Only issue was music was pretty loud and female bathroom was gross. Would still come back to try more from their menu.

So on cinco de mayo I came with some friends was here for 2 hours never got my food (everyone else did..) I asked my server multiple times where it was and he never came with my food. I left hungry while paying for 2 drinks. It was terrible I tried to be understanding of the day but still... now my second time here, drink was good food was good, but I had the SAME server it's male that takes care of the outside tables, so service was very forgetting again... drinks not coming out.. fruit that was supposed to be on them not coming then taking around 15 mins or more just to come... so my take is avoid getting Alejandro as ur server lol

From our waiter Mike to the food everything was amazing! The interior is cute as well. We will be back next time we travel through the area. Now they just need to put one in North Carolina.

To start off, they have a nice patio & beautiful decor inside. Rating this place as a 5 for my experience. We had great service from Cecia & Sebastian. She greeted us really well specially when we wanted to check out the bar. There, we received service from Sebastian. He was wonderful! He knew everything on the menu and even suggested drinks we may like. He showed kindness, knowledge & upbeat personality which made the experience great. All of this is based on service, drinks and appetizers (had the guacamole which was seasoned to perfection). I will definitely be back to try the food. Id recommend the drinks for sure! One thing to note, they have a private area for a party of 20+ or more by the bathroom. Music is on point. Please check it out!

Although the enchiladas had a red chicken inside the tortillas, taste fresh and homemade. The meal comes with rice no beans. The food came fast and we had excellent service. Thank you,Sebastian, good job.

As my wife and I was finally able to make a visit, which was located on Patriot Hwy in a strip mall with other businesses such as Discount Tires, Wings to Go. There's limited parking but manageable. As you walk in, it's not your typical Mexican style custom colorful decor but more modern stylish atmosphere which felt warm and cozy. They have a full bar and offer a patio for outside seating. Their chips and salsa were delicious and really enjoy how the salsa was thick unlike most places. We ordered 4 items: 1) Buffalo wings 2) Steak street tacos 3) Combination fajitas 4) Tres leches. The wings they offer three flavors buffalo, mango-habanero and garlic. I went with the buffalo and these chicken pieces of drumettes and flats was packed with meat which were tender and full of flavor. The steak street tacos were tasty but the meat itself fell flat for us. It was very chewy , overcooked and hurt my jaw. It tastes like it wasn't fresh and held in a third pan waiting to be served. I had some leftover lettuce with the buffalo sauce on it, added that on top of the tacos which enhances the flavors. The combination fajitas was delicious and all of the meats (carnitas, shrimp, steak, chorizo) were tender except the steak which was again overcooked, chewy and dry. It was served with refried beans, fluffy rice, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and hot tortillas. For the dessert we ordered the tres leches which didn't disappoint. It was light, moist and a must get item. Our server Miguel was friendly, energetic, attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean. We will make another visit to try other items on their menu.

This place was phenomenal! Down to the horchata , which was the best I've tried in VA. The service was great too. The ambiance is truly outstanding and you'd never know if you pass by and let the outside fool you. There is outdoor seating but indoors is beautiful. The menu options are great! We shared 3 entrees and it did not disappoint. We got quesabirria tacos, carnitas , and enchiladas verdes. Plus sopapillas for dessert. We'll be back for more! Thank you for the great staff and delicious food!

Amazing service, food quality, and vibes. I will definitely be returning and recommend anyone who enjoys Mexican cuisine. Ask for Yessie (server) she was perfect and so was our meal. Thank you very much to the cooks.

Today's venue of choice was a place called Rivers End, which sounds like either a cocktail bar or a warning label, depending on how your day's going. It starts off a little funny because you have to figure out the right door, then march yourself up the stairs like you're reporting for duty. Once you get up there, though, it feels like the kind of cool old place that's seen some things. You can almost feel the years rolling by, from Caribbean rum days to whiskey nights to the modern era of "smart cocktails," where they put things like herbs and intentions in your drink. The vibe was right. Cocktails were great--strong enough to matter, smooth enough not to apologize for. The food was excellent across the board, the kind that makes you stop talking for a minute so you can do some serious fork work. Most important, our waiter Shane was dead on the mark: there when you needed him, gone when you didn't, and never once tried to explain the menu like we'd just landed from Ohio for the first time. I can't find a single thing to complain about, which for me is almost a complaint in itself. Good value, good food, and a good scene--about all you can ask from an afternoon you're not spending at work. Next visit will be brunch, and I hope it's soon. Oh, and I did have the tostadas, but I got so excited by the smell I forgot to take a picture. Lewis would've understood. Some things are meant to be eaten, not photographed

Disappointing Experience…read more A group of friends and I recently visited Rivers and Speakeasy because I was considering renting the venue for a private party. After experiencing the service firsthand, I'm very glad I checked it out before making any plans. The waitress was nice, but the service was extremely slow. From the moment we arrived, we waited a long time just to be greeted, and then waited even longer to order and receive drinks. When our friends arrived, they experienced the same thing. They waited so long that they eventually went to the bar to try to get drinks, only to be told that they had to order through their server. The problem is, when the server isn't around and you've already been waiting, what are you supposed to do? Unfortunately, the food didn't impress us either. I personally did not find it appetizing, and overall, the experience was not what I expected. I'm actually glad I visited before considering hosting a party there because, based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable renting the venue for an event. If you don't mind waiting a very long time for drinks, food, or basic service, you may have a different experience. But for our group, the service moved at a "molasses" pace, and I would not recommend it based on our visit.

Free street parking nearby was easy to find. If you have a private event, you go to the back of the restaurant at the right and down some stairs. We were able to order whatever drink we wanted on the menu. For food, they brought trays out buffet style. We tried a variety of things. The star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. They were cooked to perfection and had a great sweet sauce. I enjoyed the salad too. They also brought out wings, mini burgers, mini fried chicken sandwiches, and tuna. Some were overcooked, but the flavor was nice. The seating was a bit awkward for a group our size in the private room, but we made it work. It was nice how casual it was.

My son was initially charged $34.39 for two frozen mango margaritas at the bar. Later, he went back up to the bar ordered one frozen strawberry margarita (listed at $15) and a tequila shot ($6), yet was charged $58.46. When I questioned, the female bartender about the price of a frozen margarita, and shot she immediately stated it was $15 and $6 stated that they thought the two earlier frozen mango margaritas had not been paid for. Obviously that was a false statement because they would've never allowed a patriot to walk away without paying for drinks from the bar this was just a way to justify them overcharging him. Although a refund was issued after I raised the issue, it was still inaccurate only $30 was returned instead of the full $34.39, excluding tax. Additionally, no apology or clear explanation was provided. This experience reflects poorly on the establishment's billing accuracy and transparency. Customers should carefully review their charges, as pricing appears inconsistent for identical items. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment.

When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. We were seated promptly, no awkward hovering, and our waitress showed up friendly, sharp, and knowing her way around the menu--which is a quality that ought to be listed right next to "clean silverware." We started with the crab and corn chowder, and let me say this right now: the crab was not there for decoration. It announced itself. Big flavor, no apologies, the way crab chowder ought to be. Second round was the smoked salmon salad. Perfect. The salmon was excellent, but that tarragon caper dressing had a way of making you slow down and think about life choices. I would put that dressing on just about anything that didn't move fast enough. For the main event, I chose the scallops, and I am prepared to testify they were as good as any I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, sitting pretty with an aioli that knew its job and did it well. My wife ordered the beef medallions, and I'll admit this with humility: looking back, I may have chosen wrong. Those medallions were expertly prepared and packed with flavor, the kind that makes you reconsider your own plate. We finished with cheesecake and berries. The cheesecake did its part. The berries... well, not every inning is a home run. Fortunately, the wine stepped in like a good relief pitcher and made everything right again. Through it all, the service never slipped. We were treated the way folks ought to be treated when they go out to celebrate something that matters. And that, in my book, counts just as much as what's on the plate.
