I have been coming to guapos in downtown Campbell for a few years now. When I first moved to the area, it was a favorite spot for food and drinks. Drinks are amazing. Recently, I am sad to say I always leave disappointed. Yesterday I went to meet a friend for happy hour and the bartender was very rude. Also, I ordered some nachos for us to share with carne asada. My nachos came to a total of $21 dollars because I added meat. There were like 3 pieces of meat on it so I went and told the dude at the register I thought there was a mistake because I ordered meat on my nachos and he said "I don't know what to tell you miss. I see some right there" lol he pointed at the one little piece of meat on my nachos. So I think I am breaking up with Guapo's and I'm sad but it's a pretty toxic relationship so hopefully I can find another great place for nachos and strong beverages and they can find some more chumps who eat their expensive food. read more

In the heart of downtown Campbell, there are SO many choices for a great happy hour or some delicious food and drank. However, I wouldn't say Guapo's has the best-tasting food or the greatest bang for your buck...but what they do have is the humungous Beergarita! Y'all Socal people know what I'm talking about...dat Coronita inside a delicious margarita? YUP. They sell them here for a pricey $9.00, but I'm not complaining because I definitely feel that delicious tequila+beer buzz at the end of the sip. Their Taco Tuesdays are $2 ONLY for the meat tacos (so this isn't veggie proof)...so other tacos are $4 even on Tuesdays :( SAD. I had their shrimp and fish tacos, which comes with a side of tortilla chips, but it didn't blow me away. The food takes a while to cook, but the bar is pretty quick. As with many spots in downtown Campbell, there are a few patio seats outside or you can choose to sit indoors--but it starts to feel like a loungey club once the sun sets. Service isn't extraordinary, but you are served with a smile. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the service--we had great servers so cheers to them! I'm just primarily stressin' about the prices and the fact that after two tacos and some chips, my friend and I were still hungry for more. Their food is decent, but I'm more looking forward to when this place expands. The space is teeny, with four large tables inside and maybe five outside. I always get the bean cheese and rice burrito, and while it's really good, it's pretty pricey for it's size ($6) and they should definitely worn you that you need a plate, knife, and fork to eat it with. It's the messiest thing! I have had friends get the nachos and the quesadilla before and they looked delicious - but I really think everything is overpriced considering it's San Jose and you can get better stuff for cheaper at other places read more

If I can give 0 stars for the service at the bar, I would. I'll give credit to the staff at the register, and who helped deliver our food, but this rating goes directly to the female bartender that accused us of lying to her management. We order two Super Chavela's at the bar, but noticed at the table that she may have inadvertently prepared two regular chavelas. So we went back to the bar and told her that our drinks were made incorrectly and if we could simply get two tequila shots to add. When we received the bill we discovered not only were we billed for two super chavela's but also two shots of patron. When we asked for an explanation she went to her supervisor, and without even asking us, he claimed we received what we ordered and why would she lie. We never claimed she lied but may have simply inadvertently made us two drinks without the tequila shots. Don't ever tell your customers they are lying about knowing what a simple drink should taste like. There are too many options in Campbell to enjoy food and drinks to be treated this way. Well, you lost two good customers, one of which is a local and has been coming to this restaurant for years. read more

Came here on a Saturday around noon and there was plenty of seating. Husband and I ordered 2 Baja fish tacos and 1/2 Santiago nachos (carne asada). The food came out relatively fast. The tacos were refreshing, crispy, and not oily. Only downfall would probably be the price - but I was pretty shocked to find out we spent $17.00 for two tacos lol. I think the highlight of any visit to El Guapos is the cocktails and bar menu. My personal favorite is the house sangria. The food is always huge portions and delicious too. They currently have both front and back patio seating available for dining. The back area is covered so we were able to eat out despite the rainy weather. This is a rockin taco bar right off the main drag in downtown campbell. While there is a smaller surface lot it tends to fill up quickly as there is a dozen spots or so. The street parking in on campbell itself also tends to fill quickly so you might be on a side street or in that parking garage kind sorta over by second. This spot is both a bar and a restaurant and if it's just drinks you're after it may be best to just roll right up to the full service bar and take a seat. Otherwise you'll have to run through the food ordering line, then get a table somewhere on the admittedly awesome patio or in the adjacent to the noisy bar indoor dining. The patio is by far the quieter and better spot for people watching. Service-except at the bar itself- is more or less self serve. You order at the counter and then wait for your food and/or drink. Works well enough but will lead to delays if/when you need more tacos or drinks which can kind of drag. They run a decent happy hour-street tacos for three bucks or so, clever looking beergaritas-a whole beer bottle is dumped into a great big frosted glass with lime and a shot of tequila-and the regular margarita's aren't shabby at all. The food quality is mos def a weak spot as they tend to be inconsistent -some taco/nacho things will be loaded others might have a single piece of meat, The food also lacks the full mouth feel that you might expecting from Latino styled food. Not exactly bursting with flavor is what I'm saying. While the happy hour specials seem wallet friendly what with one thing or another you will be looking at a ten to twenty dollar tab per plate for the most part. I wouldn't recommend it for a full on dinner, or to fill a super flavorful taco craving, but the urban art feel of the place can make for a great happy hour meet up. read more

Haven't been here in years, it was a Tuesday and you know that calls for taco Tuesday came with a couple folks from church here late night. Had the grilled shrimp tacos and they were good well cooked and flavored. Other folks had the burritos and they said it was good. The chips that come with it are good and crunchy. Overall good food. I can see why this is a hot spot. It's downtown, it has patio seating, it has a good happy hour, it has a bar area and Mexican eats. I also understand that prices reflect the location and that food costs far more than what you would think is reasonable. It would be okay if the food was 4 stars or above. Not the case here. Food is okay to mediocre at best. My fish taco had no taste beside the salsa that I added. A measly battered half-inch strip of fish under a load of cabbage on a mini corn tortilla is what I got. I finished it hoping to not remember that I paid $4.25 for it. The sangria, however, was delicious. The super quesadilla with asada was very skimpy with shredded beef inside the tortilla, not the typical chopped up asada. Portions are not a big thing, but I get it. If I were to return, drinks and chips/salsa would be it for me. Loved the art as well. read more

Came here for margaritas and they were pretty delicious. We came on a Friday afternoon, and it was fairly crowded. Parking can get pretty crowded, so if the parking garage fills up, you may get lucky if you look for some street parking. Order first, pick up margs, take a seat, and enjoy your drink. I started with the "La Chica Flaca" ($11) which is essentially a skinny margarita. This is deceivingly small, but mighty. I liked that it wasn't sugary compared to a regular margarita, so this a great choice for less sugar, but enough alcohol to provide a kick. Then, I got the Sangria-rita ($11), which was a margarita that was blended with sangria and had small bits of fruit in it. This was sweeter, but not overly sugary that gives you that dehydrated feeling later on. I actually thought the flavor was pretty delicious, and would recommend this margarita if you are looking for something more naturally fruity rather than artificially fruit flavored. My bf got the double beergarita ($13.5), which has not just one, but two coronitas flipped into a standard margarita. He and his friend both seemed to really enjoy their drinks, and usually get a couple rounds of this. Now it has become their go-to drinks here. I tried a couple bites of the chips and guac, and the guac was creamy and delicious. I actually liked the sauces that they also give, one was actually pretty spicy and had a nice kick to it. Ambiance here is super casual, and I really like that their patio sliding doors open up, so the tables spill out into the outdoor seating and you can enjoy the nice weather. Service was a little disconnected. Although I felt really pressured to quickly figure out what to order so I wont awkwardly stand deciding in the front, the guy at the front was kind and helpful and even made recommendations. Then, when you go to pick up the drinks, the people behind the bar were a little less friendly. Overall, this is a great spot for some bomb margaritas. 3.5 stars! El Guapo's is a fun place to hang out and has a great casual ambiance. I love how the "garage doors" open up to reveal the outdoor patio space. There are TVs all over the restaurant playing sports games. You order and pay up at the cashier which is great for large groups, since you won't have to worry about splitting the bill. I wouldn't come here if I were craving Mexican food, but like I said, it's a fun place to hang out and the food is decent, average, and the portion sizes are generous. The food variety was perfect for the group I was with and the beer margarita was gladly passed around the table to enjoy. There is a big difference in the "street" taco and the "el guapo" tacos. Street are kid sized and the el guapo needs two hands to eat- both still leave you wanting more of their delicious food. My review is not so much about the place, but with our experience with one of the waitresses. She was awful and because of her, we will never go back. A big group of friends and I were there during the Music festival this past Saturday 8/21/21 so we decided to go in here and have some drinks and food. We were having a great time enjoying some drinks when she approached me. I was finishing a beer I had bought outside from one of the vendors and while I can totally understand most places don't allow outside drinks, I had no problem when she said, "You have to finish that outside" I told her it wasn't a problem so I took my last sip and threw my cup in the garbage. My goodness she threw a fit! She told me to get out because I was disrespectful and I respectfully and calmly apologized and told her I wasn't trying to disrespect her. I honestly thought I just had to get rid of my drink and toss it out but she wanted me out for taking that last sip. My brother stepped in and also respectfully told her I wasn't trying to disrespect her. We had a whole table full of drinks and food between 10 people and she did not care about the business we were bringing, she just wanted me out. Finally my brother got her to calm down and she said to respect her rules, which again, I totally understand and respect but the way she proceeded to harass me was absolutely unnecessary and I regret not talking to her Supervisor that same day because after she left our table she moved on to harass the table next to us for I don't know what reason. I respect that every establishment has different rules and I can see if I came at her in a disrespectful manner, BUT I was calm and respectful with her the whole time. I would NOT want that kind of person working for me, she is going to cost them a lot of business if she doesn't change her attitude. Great Tacos, but Unsat Service and Filthy Atmosphere! Opens 11AM Closes 10-Midnight So why don't they start cleaning in the early morning? First impression is a lasting impression! I mean, how hard is it to scrub or power wash the deck of the patio after closing or even first thing in the morning?? Get up early, like Zero-6, clean and do whatever else that needs to be done?! The cracks of the tables had grime in-between the planks. Can you hose down the tables once a week??? Did you see the pictures of the napkin dispensers?? There was some type of "stuff", maybe residue from other patrons inside them. So anyways.. We arrived just after 11 o'clock. I had my 2yr old with me today. We sat outside on the patio for a few and waited for about 5-10 minutes to be waited on... So.. We got up and went to the counter and I made my order, 3 tacos, Al Pastor, Carne Asada and Chile Verde. A Cheese Quesadilla for the young lady! I got a regular Horchata to wash it down. We went back to the table outside on the patio. There were umbrellas there for shade! I glad there was! I was so ready to try this place because of the Sangria-Rita of course! Downtown Campbell is always a mess to park but if your willing to be patient el guapos will be worth it!! Staff was so nice and helpful, they were all patient when we were deciding what to eat and drink. Atmosphere is the cutest! So many skulls and crosses and bright colors, it was fun, the music was great and everyone's attitude was enjoyable. Food came out and was very good!
