This rotisserie chicken meal was Delicious!!! I think that word doesn't do it justice actually, it was incredibly tasteful and the sides also complimented delicious. We also ordered fried plantains, also delicious. Beautiful view enjoy the beach and the Venice vibes. Staff was 100% attentive to all the needs. Will definitely come back to try more of the menu
Can't beat the view looking out at the beach and ocean front -- eating outside in the amazing Southern California weather. The food itself was a mix -- I really enjoyed the flavors of the spices and sauce for the lomo matado. The onions and tomatoes were cooked to perfection. The rice was simple but worked as a compliment. The fries underneath weren't hot so that was a bummer. They did redo them. But by then I was done with the steak. My husband liked his rotisserie chicken a lot. He said it and the sauce were very flavorful. Our server was very friendly as well. Definitely worth checking out if you're wanting a casual beachside meal.
Have ordered delivery and eaten here about a dozen times total, and have had the lomo saltado, traditional ceviche, and beef/lomo sandwich. The flavors, quality, authenticity and freshness are big highlights. Green sauce is delicious! And the new seated option on the boardwalk is a great addition, particularly when you are entertaining tourists and want them to have a Venice experience with great food and table service. Service was great - minimalist but prompt. Food came out very quickly. The reason for 4* rather than 5* is because the lomo saltado can be a lil salty, and the sirloin is less tender and a bit gamey compared to the traditional tenderloin. Lovely spot, recommend coming by here!
Great meal here after checking out Venice beach and walking up and down the side board walk. It's a cute little small restaurant with just a few tables. They also have a pickup window on the side hallway.From the tables you have a view of the beach which is nice. Service was very friendly! I asked for lemon/lime for my water and they brought out a bowl of lime wedges plus green and white sauces for the meal. I ordered the grilled fish plate which came with steamed rice and salad. Fish was very flavorful tender flaky and tasted really amazing!! One of the best fish dishes I've had. Very satisfying and filling meal. The portion was just right. The hubs ordered the lomo saltado which is one of their signature dishes and really enjoyed it. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Others in the group ordered the rotisserie chicken wrap which they liked and the fish ceviche which was also enjoyed. Overall a really great meal. All were satisfied after the great meal.
TLDR: Delicious Lomo Saltado with friendly service. Busy, slightly cramped beachside vibe. Water could be better, but overall a great spot worth trying. My friend and I ordered the Lomo Saltado (Beef Stir Fry) and it was absolutely delicious. My friend mentioned it's hard to mess this dish up, but I still really loved it. The service was kind and attentive without being overbearing. The ambiance was busy and a bit cramped, but that's expected for an afternoon near the beach. I do wish they filtered their water, but everything else was great. While I can't vouch for other dishes, the plates we saw at neighboring tables looked just as appetizing. Our total came to $58.04 before tip.
Stumbled upon this place right off the Venice boardwalk in a cute little alley with outdoor tables and a few eateries where you order from a window. We got the lomo saltado and it was not cheap but possibly the best lomo saltado I've ever had :o The person working the window was very nice as well. I can't wait to try more items on the menu when I'm back in Venice beach. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. 10/10
We were very impressed! We are from way out of state and are not as fortunate as the locals here to have as wide a variety of high quality cuisines. We don't miss the opportunity to try something more unique and less accessible to us. That and we were walking along Venice Beach and were hungry. We love a good ceviche, and the fish ceviche here delivered. It tasted to fresh and refreshing, with a really nice acidic spice to it that got a couple of tears out of me. We also got some Peruvian style fried fish tacos. I never opt for fish tacos, but that's because I've never had them like these. These were great, crunchy, fresh, and very flavorful. We washed everything down with the Maracuya (passionfruit) juice, which was delicious and not too sweet. We were nervous this place would just be a tourist trap, given its prime location right on the beach. It was a little pricey, but it exceeded expectations, and we had a wonderful lunch with a wonderful view. The staff was lovely, patient, and helpful. I'd love to come back and try some more food if we are in the area!
Quick service window in Venice. You are sitting outside so be prepared for the wind and gray weather! The fish tacos were 10/10! So light! So fluffy! The yellow sauce took it to another level! Shrimp Saltados 8/10 had great flavor! Kinda messy for a beach day. The rice was hard, but overall delightful!

I finally got the chicken! Absolutely amazing, my favorite chicken now. So well marinated and tasty. Incredible smokey flavor. its really unique and delicious. I got a quarter dark with rice and salad. The rice is silky and MOIST, so good. I loved the spicy green sauce as well. Extra extra sauce please. Very lovely man running this spot and they work hard. Cute small window right off the boardwalk. You can park up on Main Street and walk down, chill at sweet little tables outside with a beach view. Very pleasant, very good food. read more

While strolling on Venice I needed to find an escape from the chaos and a good bite to eat and I was lucky to stumble into the right place. A nice small Peruvian restaurant that was authentic and delicious. The waitress recommended the Lomo Saltado paired with fried plantains. The sweetness of the plantains with the savory Lomo Saltado complimented each other perfectly and hits different when washing it down with an ice cold Inca Kola. This place would be 5 stars but it is a bit pricey besides that no complaints. read more
It was a beautiful day and I could not resist a long walk to the beach and the nice breeze of the ocean. While many places on the board walk are clear tourist traps the flavor of this Peruvian spot cannot be denied. While they are known for their Lomo Saltdado and their delicious chicken. What keeps me coming back is the Ceviche. There is nothing like enjoying fresh good fish right near the sea! read more

El Huarique is hardly ever a let down. Except when they forget something from our order, which happens often unfortunately but nothing a quick bag check can't fix, unless you ordered for delivery then you're effed. We used to love the rotisserie chicken but they always run out so we stopped ordering. I had it again recently and believe they changed the recipe. It tastes like it has cumin now, which I am not a fan of. I do enjoy their lomo or pollo saltado - you can never go wrong with saltado. Their green aji sauce is one of my favorites ever as well as their buttery, perfectly cooked fluffy white rice. My favorite thing to do is mix the two up! *Drooool* I also recently started to get the fried fish aka pescado frito. It comes with fries, white rice and pickled red onions. SO GOOD! Be sure to squeeze some lemon juice and add aji sauce over your fish or dip each bite. I used to get the tallarines which is pasta but I don't see it on the menu anymore. If they bring it back, try it with chicken - it's linguine tossed in a light soy ish tasting sauce and tomatoes, peppers and red onions. I would compare it to a scampi pasta, but Peruvian style! read more
OMG! Aside from Pollo Ala Brasa near K-Town near Western and I think 8th, this is my other fave Peruvian chicken place. It is at Venice Beach, on the beach, so I've only gotten delivery 2x, but I love it! The chicken has so much flavor, the garlic rice is amazing, and I ordered the green sauce, but didn't use it because the food was so yum as is. It's on the corne of one of the little streets, but I am in never in Venice so I will just keep getting delivery. I saw online they only have outdoor seating and it is more of a walk up to the window to order type of place. DEFINITELY try it out. So damn good! - Locale Destination - It's on Ocean front walk and Westminster Ave in Venice. It's in the small skinny building, one of the windows. Ambiance: it's only a window. Communal seating in front of it. Menu: Peruvian. Pretty wide range. Service: it takes a while but all good and fresh. Parking: street parking away from the beach - Gluttony Expedition - Mixed Ceviche: Lots of seafood, nicely seasoned, various textures from fried corn, white corn, onions, and sweet potato. Pretty good! Look saltado: usually the meat quality isn't here, but this place does offer tender meats. A lot smaller portion than usual, but tasty! It comes with sautéed onions, red bell peppers, tomato, and fries. Wish they put French fries on the side instead of being drenched in the sauce. Good! Maracuya: passion fruit agua Fresca. A bit sweeter side but good. - Conqueror's Deduction - I never expected this good out of beach front! It's pretty good! read more

We got the fish, calamari, shrimp plate and all 3 were breaded in a delicious batter that did not lack flavor. It typically comes with yucca but they had ran out so they substitute it with fries instead which were okay. Plenty of seating on a pretty clean patio. read more

"Chicken on the boardwalk" Located on Westminster right near the boardwalk this is in a prime Venice location that's close enough to the action, but tucked away in an area that will let you take a break. Ok so everyone loves the food here. It tastes good. A lot of my local friends talk about it. The other reviews talk about it. Not sure how many other Peruvian places there are here, so if you'd like to try it I recommend it. For me, it's pretty much the same as any other place. Chicken is chicken, rice is rice, beans are beans, and fries are Peruvian? That chicken is juicy though. Can't deny that. The prices are...well there's a tourist surcharge here. You can get the 1/2 chicken plate as pictures for about $19 out the door. Not the best deal. And I definitely wouldn't pay that much for the burgers so I've never tried them. There is seating and if that's full the beach is always a good backup. And the service is good. People are nice. It took me about 20 minutes to get my food with a couple of orders ahead of me. I'll probably come again but not that often. It's not worth it for me, but could be a good treat for anyone craving Peruvian food. Protip: Given the long wait times, order ahead online. The prices look to be the same. read more
I am genuinely so upset at myself for not finding out about this wonderful establishment earlier. I remember when we initially walked by it I was turned off because it's just a small "order at the window" type of place right off the boardwalk and those places can be very hit or miss since the main crowd in Venice is often tourists. I'm so happy to say that this particular spot was a hit. Truly such awesome food! I got the beef stir fry and wooowwww. The meat they make is really delicious and it comes with beautifully seasoned rice (if you like garlic you'll love it) and veggies plus a little surprise of french fries on the bottom (I say surprise because I completely forgot that the fries were part of the dish until I got to the bottom and was feeling very blessed when I saw them lol). The chicken also looked absolutely incredible. Anyways, come here! You will love it and be so happy, especially if you have the munchies (hey you're in Venice right) read more

Food is great but lord the prices are an arm and a leg for the tiniest portions. I mean easily over $35 for a dish that seems like they didn't make enough and the drinks are over the line small. I mean it's like asking for a kids meal. The price does not warrant the size portions for either the drinks or food. read more

I'm a big fan of Lomo Saltado and had high hopes for El Huarique when I read the glowing reviews. I came by for a takeout lunch during COVID and unfortunately, the food took 20+ minutes. Not sure if the kitchen was backed up? There weren't any other people who were waiting so not sure what happened. The food was delicious though! The beef was very flavorful and tender. Rice was soft and fluffy. I would have liked more aji sauce to complement the dish, but overall I enjoyed my order! Would be back if I'm in the Venice area and see if the wait time is quicker. read more

Wow we discovered this little gem walking down the Venice boardwalk hung over just wandering. It was nestled on a quant street and we were thinking of either acai bowls or Peruvian food and you can see which one won us over. The good was delicious and they have so many options other than chicken. My girlfriend ordered their fish combo which is not picture but it came with two big fried fish fillets, rice, french fries and salad. I got the 1/4 chicken dark meat with a salad and it hit the spot. Their salad dressing was nice and light but full of flavor and OMG the green sauce they give you for the chicken is like crack! It's so good I wanted to take some home. Check this place out if you want a quick and affordable lunch/dinner. read more

The beautiful sweet lady named Kate was very eager to please, very friendly & hospitable. She goes above & beyond to do her job right EVEN THOUGH it was almost Closing Time and she was ready to go home. She took her time to make sure I was served correctly here. I went with their 1/4 Chicken Rotisserie Plato. Came with tasty Beans & a very delicious side of Rice. I've heard great reviews about this place and will definitely be back to scarf down the rest of their menu. I'm sure everything tastes amazing here! read more

I found this spot by accident while looking for a place for lunch along the beach. We visited on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait. I ordered a quarter chicken with rice, not expecting to be filled, but was quite full after finishing everything. The rice was lightly flavored with garlic but all the juices and fat from the chicken seeped into the rice making the rice a lot more flavorful. The green sauce (not sure what it was) went great with the rice as well. I was a bit put off by the texture of the rice; it was a bit stale, similar to overnight rice. On the other hand, the chicken was very tender and easily came off the bone just from prying with a fork. Overall, this is a decent spot for lunch and has reasonable price compared to other offerings in the area. read more

We kind of stumbled onto this place because we originally planned on going to Eggslut on New Years day but it was closed. This is a small hole in the wall Peruvian cafe near the Venice boardwalk. It only seats about 12-14 people inside the cafe. You have to place your order first at the counter and then they will bring your food to your table. The food was good but a little bit on the pricey side especially for a little cafe. I guess it's because it's in Venice. I had my favorite Peruvian dish Lomo Saltado and it was very good. Nice little spot in Venice. One con though the serving size isn't the biggest for the price tag. I got the dark meat rotisserie style chicken with a side of rice. I've eaten at Mario's Peruvian on Melrose for 20 years. But once I tried Chef Esteban's Lomo Saltado at "El Huarique" in Venice Beach I was hooked. NXT LVEL! No cap! The sauteed steak with garlic, wine and soy is much more flavorful. The steak is perfectly seasoned, tender always. I like to drizzle the green ahi chile sauce right on top. Rice carefully cooked, light, fluffy w/ finely chopped fresh cilantro. read more
