    Chorizo and egg taco $1.65.
    Daryll B.

I'm hanging around the barrio again on Spur St. I tried a chorizo and egg taco through the drivethough. I found the tortilla to be hard around the edges and the chorizo and egg lacked flavor. I probably won't be back as Milly's across the street also has a drive though and her tortillas are soft, homemade and delicious. In comparing these Spur st. joints with Seguin taquerias (taco tejano, las palmas, the palms), there is just no comparison. Seguin is outstanding with the tortillas, salsas, and meat fillings.

Popped into El Jardin for breakfast and the breakfast tacos did not disappoint. The fillings were very generous and service was on point. Tortillas were tasty but a little on the hard side. I would definitely return to try other dishes. I really like El Jardin because they have a nifty drive-thru that I've been using since I was in high school. There are plenty of seating options and they have a nice bar in the back room.

    So goooood

(we live in san antonio) but... the experience this time was just ok, not fantastic. despite hubbie making reservations 3 weeks in advance, and restaurant knowing it was a celebratory occasion, we were seated at the very first table - which faces the entrance. awkward location. we pretty much ordered same meal as last time. mexican shrimp cocktail - sauce was very thick in an off putting way, but shrimp was fresh and nicely chilled. hubbie got shrimp & oysters with fries. he's not one to complain much, but he said all were a bit greasy & not as crispy as he'd like. i had shrimp, scallops & broccolini. plate came with not very well prepared broccoli - with no mention from server before or upon arrival of switch. how can broccoli be both under & over at same time? unsure, but parts were very hard and others too soft, so it went mostly uneaten. i would have asked for something else if id known they didnt have broccolini. scallops & shrimp were well prepared, but light, velvety sauce from last time was replaced with slightly "gloopy" and a bit greasy sauce, didnt look or taste very appealing. brussel sprouts were drenched in some type of mayo sauce that was not mentioned on the menu. so "crispy" brussel sprouts were soggy. SO... how much of this experience was on us? we didnt complain, we didnt send back, but we would have had to send EVERYTHING back and this was our anniversary. we are not that picky that every dish needs to be perfectly prepared to our liking. but for is to encounter a problem with every dish? maybe just a bad night. but i dont feel like we received the upscale experience we paid for. only one thing was as fantastic as we remembered - the creme brûlée!

Tentacles for the win... not just rings. We also ordered the crawfish etoufee, shrimp & andouillle pasta and shrimp & catfish. They offer good size portions and everything was good. WOW! bright green, tender, not overcooked leaves with a light cream sauce. i passed it around and everyone LOVED it! another surprisingly yummy bite was the chicken tenders! they got passed around too, moist, tender and very tasty. salads that passed by looked delicious and fresh! not your usual leafy dishes. we did have to ask for drink refills although there werent many tables. bills arrived & onion rings had been divided amongst us - appreciate they can do that, but friend had asked for them to be added to her bill. i was also charged $2 for my spinach. server again said it was his fault (not noting sub) and offered to remove it. but apparently there was an upcharge, which is fine, but note on menu or have server inform. but since all are listed as fries with no separate pricing - it looks like they are interchangeable. it wasnt a bad meal but at $45 plus tip, i left feeling like i had a fried basket experience at a premium price. i told myself i'd pay $20 for the spinach so...

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant, it's got a home like feel. The staff always treats you like family. It's my daughter's birthday and she wanted to float down the river. So that means a trip to Clear Springs. First up a small order of onion rings. They were so good, the crisp outer batter and thick onions. Next up my youngest had the Shrimp Po Boy. It had a nice flavor from lettuce tomatoes and tangy dressing. The shrimp were fried well. My oldest daughter had the Fish Tacos. They were bright and fresh but needed a little more zing. My son had the Combination (fish and fried crawfish)- the crawfish were tasty and had a good batter. My Seafood Grill was amazing. The shrimp brochettes were amazing, loved the grilled catfish. I'm not usually a fan of blackened catfish but this one was good. My wife had the cup of Cajun Gumbo. It wasn't bad but it was chunky and that's not my style. We ended with the Chocolate Cake for dessert since it was my oldest daughter's birthday. It was the perfect end, the pecans added a saltiness that balanced out the richness of the chocolate.

There's a bar area, several tvs around, and a great patio for outdoor seating. Being a crawfish place, it's super casual, and the place was packed by the time we finished. They have a lot of beers on tap and some in bottle too. I told them they should start an early happy hour, maybe 3-6pm, selling pints of draft for $5 and pounds of bugs no sides for $7... we'd definitely go!! As amazing as it was, we spent over $80 on 4 beers and 5# of crawfish and at that rate, it rivals what we spent at McAdoo's...yikes. Still, got my first fix of the season and I was pleased!
