Recently took a trip to Mexico I can say with confidence you won't be disappointed. My favorite dish is the carnitas enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. The tostadas are very tasty too. I love the homemade tortilla chips with their guacamole and other tasty sauces. We easily order from here weekly/bi-weekly. read more

This restaurant may not be the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it's the best for what this area offers. I don't think your shitty 1 star review is helpful to people here. This is the best place in the area to get Mexican food. The parking can be difficult if you're coming during peak lunch hours (12:00-12:45), but if you can manage to squeeze in a spot (and also into their fairly small establishment) you're in for a delicious treat. My favorite item is the chicken tinga taco supreme (minus the crazy amounts of cheese). So good. Very sloppy. Ask for extra napkins. My bf's favorite dish is the burrito. For me, it's way too heavy, but he loves it. The tostadas are good too, but a bit difficult for me to eat without making a huge mess. I did not really care much for the quesadillas, but they were still better than any other quesadilla in this area. Salsa is fresh. Guac is good. Chips are a bit too thick though but still manageable. If you don't feel like being cramped, call ahead and pick up an order. Min. card amount is $10 though. read more

Came here after looking for a place in Conshohocken on Yelp. Small Mexican restaurant that you would not consider coming in to if you like fancy dining. Okay, so I actually wrote a review 10 days ago about their "good food, RUDE service" & rating the establishment 3 stars.. Im editing my review to 1 star. I'm a LONG time customer of El Limon Conshohocken, even when they were at the old location. I lived above the boathouse and was a about a bi-weekly customer for close to 3 years... That's a lot of business, right? You'd think they'd recognize me, right? I had a couple bad experiences at the old location with mistakes on the order, but thought "no big deal, still good." They moved to the new location and the mistakes continued. Just this evening I ordered a plethora of tacos running me north of $50.. I go there, sit in line for 25+ minutes, pay for my order then go home to find my order is wrong. I called and spoke to the manager, he tells "come back with your food, come in through the back door and we'll talk about reimbursement."... I show up with what he asked and he REFUSED to reimburse me. He checked the slip and it was clearly wrong. Still refused... I was dumbfounded. I even mentioned how long I've been going there and he has the audacity to tell me "no no, you've only been coming for about 3 months?" At that point, I knew it was over. Long story short.. extremely disappointed that they did not take care of their long time customers. NEVER going back. read more

El limon is my go to taco and burrito place (huge burritos, they're great). I usually get their al pastor tacos which are always consistently yummy and well made. I've done dine-in as well as take out, and service or food prep times are fast for both. Have occasionally gotten their churros which are decent as well! read more

I came here for Villanova homecoming and I had to get El Limon. The table of 4 shared guacamole and chips. The waitress automatically brought us 4 margaritas. They were watered down, but it got the job done. Plus, it's unlimited and included! They're known for their enchiladas, so I got their chicken enchiladas which was the best enchiladas I ever had! It was meaty in the inside, cheesy on the outside, and had sauce all over. It was very filling, so I would definitely share next time. Although one of my guy friends ordered and ate enchiladas and 3 tacos. I guess it depends on the person. I ordered another margarita before I left, but they ran out which was annoying. The place was very casual and there's seating inside and out, but I would imagine the turnover is quick. My friends who go here often told me there's always a line, so we got lucky since we didn't have to wait at all. SCORE! read more

My friend has been trying to get me to try this place for months, and I went for the first time last night. Can't believe it took me so long to try this place out!! We went on a a Friday night, and although busy, two of us were seated right away. It's a little hole in the wall and clearly authentic Mexican food. For apps, we got chips, salsa and guacamole. The salsa is more like a pico de gallo in that it's clearly very fresh as though someone just cut up the tomatoes. I LOVE spicy food and it was perfectly spicy. The guac was very good too. For entrees, I got 2 carne asada (steak) tacos and one carne asada torta. The bf got 1 carne asada quesadilla. Clearly, we're steak people - probably should've changed the proteins up a bit, but the stead was to die for! So flavorful!! I took a bite of his quesadilla and was like umm excuse me- can we get another one of these to share please!? The food also comes out fairly quickly. Visited this cozy looking place but it wasn't worth the ride to go there. I tried the steak, chorizo and chicken tinga tacos while here. The best by far was the chorizo taco. Juicy, flavorful and the best by far. The tortilla was filled just right, not at all skimpy on filling but a rip off to pay .50 extra for each lettuce, tomato or cheese if wanted on taco. If you want limes for your food, guess what, it's extra. Rip off. The so called salsa is a bland version of pico de gallo as well as the guacamole. Tortilla chips were just ok. Not worth what they charge for them. Maybe because everything is bigger and flavorful in Texas. ; ) this is not anything to write home about. They have two hot sauce bottles, a green version and a red version with no flavor even though the red is spicier. Waitress seemed to not want to be there and acted like we were a bother. Not very busy when we arrived. I'm sure there are way better taco places in PA but this is just my opinion. Mexican comida Heaven in the heart of Conshy! Went this past week for lunch and it took every once of self control to not go back every day after! I cannot remember the exact name of the dish that I got but I know I got the chicken tinga... woah lemme tell ya... slam dunk. It came with bacon and some tortillas. I got the rice and beans as well. Portion was uge (insert trump voice) and I ate every last morsel. Honestly the rice and refried beans was not necessary but it was if you know what I mean. My coworker got the nacho grande and boy did it look grand....e! Guy at the table next to us got the burger and I was covetous of his meal. Can't wait to go back. Sorry to be a downer but this was LITERALLY the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. The tortilla shell for my enchilada was NOT cooked AT ALL. The mole sauce tasted more like chocolate sauce than mole sauce. My kid didn't like her burrito..not old enough to specify why but she needs to eat too. Came here for lunch today and was blown away by delicious tacos and genuine and awesome service! We had shrimp, asada and al pastor tacos - and they were outstanding! Shrimp tacos came with rice and beans, which were also excellent. They have two sauces on the table: green is cilantroey and limey and red is super spicy - some sort of habanero heat that lingers. I loved both! Bathroom was clean and smelled good, too. Lots of people getting huge take outs for lunch - always a good sign! Wouldn't have known to check this place out if it weren't for well-deserved Yelp reviews. I am in love with this place - I hope we swing by on our way home for dinner today :) read more

We've been to el limon many times over the past few years both in Ardmore and Conshy. Recently went to the Conshohocken location. The food is very good, not great, but very good. But the service... It's friendly, don't get me wrong, but there is clearly a lack of management for busy times like dinner rush. Multiple waiters forgetting parts of the order, unavailable when you need them. Then before the end, we were handed a check and told "thanks for coming" when no one was finished eating. Felt rushed and weird. read more

Probably one of the best restaurants in Conshy. Located on bustling Fayette Street, it's completely low-key, no-fuss good food. I love the unpretentious atmosphere; the servers and guests are friendly, and generally everybody is happy to be there. My go-to is the al pastor burrito bowl, which is probably closer to 2 full meals. The portions here are very generous. The sweets and savory flavors are to-die for! Combined with flavorful sauces and guacamole, it's essentially a perfect meal. My boyfriend loOooOOooves any of their tacos, especially tikka chicken, with rice and beans. Ok, so, I am like the luckiest guy in the world! Today my beautiful baby took me out for the most amazingest lunch in all of human history. El Limon!!! For reals? OMG! I don't think it gets any better than this. Like, literally- no better, like the maximum betterness! If it got any better, I would have seriously died! Like deaded right on the spot! The day started with us taking showers (separately, of course; we don't live in sin!), then we turned our tv off, rearranged all our stuffed animals on the bed, got dressed, and headed to the car. On the way, a homeless guy asked for change, but I seriously didn't have any change and I was sad because I could tell that he totally didn't believe me : (. It's a long walk to my ride, but not too long, just long enough to be considered a stroll, but not a hike... long enough so that by the time we got there I was totally starving! When we finally parked and then walked through the door, I was blown away. There was no hostess around to direct us to our table so, after many moments of hesitation, we decided to just sit on our own, and so glad we did! We were feeling pretty on point and it showed by us being able to get a table right by the window! The ambiance was beautiful. Romantic, but not too romantic. Cozy, but not too cozy. It reminded me of a café in Spain/Mexico, minus the sexual harassment (WTF? didn't we look good enough?). It was a little loud, what with the four other people there chatting away like normal human adults, but for a meal like this, I figured I could manage a vibrant environment. If the ambiance wasn't so magical, I would have totally, definitely taken a star away for this noise issue- even despite the fact that the restaurant really has no control over the volume of its customers. But, you know, I'm just petty like that. I think I get it from my mother, but that's neither here nor there. I was happy to hear that they were playing authentic Spanish music on the radio, which was awesome because I didn't know any of it, which makes it cooler, and I could pretend to like it while trying to look cool in the crowd. I nodded my head happily to the music while we waited for our food so that everyone in the restaurant would know I was hip to it if they decided to look over at me! As my friends always say, manufactured cool is still cool! Holla! Plus one star for rocking jizams! I ordered the Alambre (without onions because I wanted to judge their food my way), which came with a combination of bell peppers, bacon, onions, steak, was topped with cheese, and had about 4-6 corn tortillas, but it seemed like it was missing something... maybe onions? She went with two Tinga (chicken, get with it!) Sopes, or open faced corn tortillas smothered with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and your choice of meat. She LOVED the Sopes, but wasn't a big fan of the open face-ness of it, or of the puffy fried tortillas. As an afterthought, we also got one each of the tacos; good stuff, though they don't come with normal taco fixings like tomato or lettuce, and of them my favorite was the spicy chorizo. At this point the waiter/owner (where's the name tags so I can put you on blast?) offered us some of the free margaritas or sangria they have here, but I drank so much last night i might have thrown up in my mouth at the smell of booze (but really if it's free, it's probably watered down, so minus a star for weak drinks, but plus a star for them being FREE!). I almost want to take another star away for what happened next; as we were sitting there eating, another customer who had brought his own six pack finished eating and began offering the left over Lagers to other patrons, but he avoided us! Sooo ignorant! I only let it slide cause he was ugly anyway. Finished the meal and we were stuffed! I had to unbutton my pants! I could tell I'd be spending some time in bathroom later, I just hoped I could get home in time! Foodgasms all around! Like literally. I think my girlfriend had to change her pants! TMI!!! I know, I know. Everyone tells me that I share waaay too much information, but way seriously, the food was that good! The meal was like $20 which wasn't too bad, although, not to kill a deadened horse or anything, I would have definitely liked it if the manager could have turned down the volume on the other customers. How rude of him to allow them to carry on their conversations in our presence! We didn't tip of course because we're Elites, so the waiter/owner looked kind of pissed, but that's ok because that's how we roll! I'm going to give this establishment four stars out of five. I took a star off for no real reason. Even though we didn't catch that vibey, intangible feeling of five-starredness that we reserve for garbage, trendy food trucks or the bars where our cousin's friend of friend works, we will definitely return! Holy Mole! On a recent trip to the burbs, we decided that only burritos could cure our woes (placed on us by SEPTA of course) We stopped in and perused the menu. I settled on a carnitas burrito with mole. I'm not a mole aficionado by any means but when I'm able to discern multiple types of chilis and still taste the chocolate, I'm impressed. I have read that mole sauce is developed in layers with many different flavors and I think preserving them in the final product is a real skill. The burrito itself was huge and I probably didn't need to eat all of it. It was freakin delicious though and I couldn't stop myself. I think this kind of meal for under 10 bucks is a steal. Just did El Limon for takeout tacos and burritos. My oh my this is some good stuff. Very authentic tasting and reasonable prices ($2.50 for a steak taco, $7.95 for a truly monstrous steak burrito). There are tables inside for dining in this Fayette Street storefront restaurant, but decor and ambiance are largely nonexistent as the focus here is squarely on the food. Parking on Fayette Street is very difficult during lunch hour, and it takes a good 15min for them to put your order together if you didn't call ahead. No matter, I'll be back... I still haven't tried the enchiladas. read more

The word of the day is mole. Seriously, their mole is wonderful. When I think of the suburbs I generally don't expect to find great food, but El Limon is really a tiny gem in Conshohocken. Their stove is literally right in the dining area so you can hear and smell your food being chopped, sizzled, and prepared before your eyes. And that stove produces great things. Their tortilla chips are nothing to write home about, but their salsa is chunky and super refreshing with an unexpected kick. The carnitas enchiladas with mole is really where it's at, and for $8.95 you get a heaping plate of three carnitas tacos in corn tortillas, a generous mole topping, rice, and beans. Let's just say you'll be full for lunch and taking home leftovers for dinner. I haven't had a lot of authentic Mexican food in my life, but when your eyes get teary and your nose starts to run from the mole you know it's something special. The space is unpretentious, the margaritas are free, and the food is not only fresh and delicious but easily the best Mexican food I've had. Yay for El Limon. read more

This restaurant has routinely failed to: seat me quickly, provide necessary utensils without asking, bring me the correct drink order or even refill it, or been able to correctly spell 'Chips' at least 20 times on their own menu. BUT, I will continue coming here forever because the food is in-f'in-credible. If you like mexican food, you should love this place. Unless you're one of those perpetually disappointed people who has only ever tasted "authentic mexican food" from their 3rd generation mexican father or the guy who mows their lawn or whatever. read more

Love love love. El limon is simple, affordable, and perfect. There are two small dining areas and we were seated right away. Our waitress was great. We started out with the free margaritas which we described as "buttery" and pretty much terrifying. But, you're not coming here to drink, you're coming here for great mexican food. We ordered the guacamole which was obviously fresh and had big chunks of avocado in it. Loved it. I ordered the al pastor tacos to put el limon to the taco test. They passed with an A+. A tinga burrito was also ordered and very much enjoyed, as well as some other chorizo dish that also got a rave review. Best part about El Limon? It's ridiculously cheap for such high quality and delicious mexican food. We all enjoyed so much that we're planning to make this a regular go-to spot. read more

I don't know why this place gets rave reviews. I'm Mexican by the way. The tacos are good. The free margaritas are watery like lemonade. The menu is very limited. My suspicion as to why this place has so many great reviews is because: 1 there is a lot of foot traffic here and 2 not many other accessible competitors and 3 the average blue collar Mexicans don't use yelp. Tons of white people come in here. While the food is authentic, the menu is missing tons! They only serve tacos and burritos! This place is good and authentic but too simple for me. For a real Mexican plate i.e. entree with rice, beans, salad or traditional soups and tortas try La Poblanita in Norristown. You'll notice that there are almost no yelp reviews but that must be because like I said, Mexicans don't use Yelp. read more

You know the best thing about me going to party in WIlmington, Delaware and the bars closing at 1:30? Being able to get back to Conshy in time to visit El Limon. Yes I said it. the BEST thing about going to Wilmington is coming BACK to Conshy for El Limon. Not only is everything cooked as you order but it is as fast as any drunk patron at 2:30 am could want. I spent a total of 6 dollars and was IMMEDIATELY satisfied with my purchase. I can't add much more to the already numerous 5 star reviews of El Limon. This is a great spot for lunch in Conshy. Though small, it's comfortable and the service was great. The menu is no frills (complete with adorable misspellings). I don't know of a place with more bang for your buck. A huge plate of homemade tortilla chips, salsa, and guacamole was a mere $3. This place was busy when we got there and busy when we left. It's super popular among locals! We waited about 10 minutes to get a seat and the service was great the whole time. The quesadilla with steak was awesome, once of the best quesadillas I've had. Crispy outside, a generous amount of melted cheese inside, and flavorful steak meat, served with sour cream and chopped lettuce and tomato. I thought my tostada was pretty good. Crispy shell topped with al pastor meat and shredded lettuce and sour cream. The enchiladas were good and flavorful, filled with shredded chicken. We also ordered the nachos, which next time I would just get chips with salsa and guacamole as the nachos were really soggy in the middle because of the beans. My husband though this place was too Americanized although I like how they put lettuce, tomato and sour cream on everything! read more

I LOVED this restaurant! Thank you, Yelp! The menu is simple, unlike most Mexican restaurants that have 400 combinations of the same items. The place is tiny, the staff is friendly and from what I could see of the dining room and open kitchen, it seemed exceptionally clean. Since the margaritas were free, I was expecting a sickeningly sweet glass of lime slush, but they were on the rocks and better than most margaritas that I've paid for. In addition to being tasty, they also had a decent kick to them. We started with chips and salsa that we oddly enough had to pay for (yet the margaritas are free...?). They were thick cut and crunchy and came with bowls of pico and guacamole and two different salsas in big squirt bottles. I had chicken mole with beans and rice and my boyfriend had three tacos: chicken, steak and chorizo on soft corn tortillas (I thought chorizo was the best). My only "complaint" is that the mole was actually pretty spicy and I like it a little less so. The entire meal of two entrees, chips, [free] margaritas and a Mexican Coke came to $25. WARNING: This place is not for yuppies or people who think BMW is the greatest driving machine ever made by man. If your looking for fancy mexican steaks etc. check out Tequillas in the city (16th and Locust) or one of the two El Serape locations, they are both amazing mexican establishments with a much higher price tag and great ambiance. As far as I'm (and my 3 roomates and girlfriend) are concerned, for the price this is some of the best mexican food you can get in montgomery/bucks areas. Yes it's a super small place and theres problay 10 things total on the menu, but they do those 10 things damn good. My roomates and I problay eat here once a week, all the dishes are reasonably priced (8$ for an amazing burrito) and made with fresh delicious ingredients. Their mole sauce is phenomenal and of the 30+ times we've been here we haven't had one bad order. If you dont want to deal with sitting in the small table section order it ahead and pick it up, they do prompt and easy pickup of anything. Also, free margaritas by request, don't waste your time asking for "on the rocks" or "salt on the rim' though, just enjoy a cold mixture of margi mix and montezumma tequilla. read more

The chicken burrito is large enough to fill the most hungry of people. Yea, it's more expensive than Qdoba or Chipotle, but the quality and taste are far superior. BETTER... During my first trip, I tried all four tacos (chicken, pork, chorizo, and asada). While they were all great, I recommend the chorizo and chicken. BEST... I tend to be discerning when it comes to foods that I can cook myself. And I can whip up a mean guac. That being said, their guacamole is, by far, the best I have ever had. I moved to Conshy from Texas, so to say I was skeptical of this place is a huge understatement. Still, the girlfriend convinced me to go, so we gave it a shot. WOW. I was surprised at how GOOD the food is! I got the carnitas burrito, the carnitas was done well, good size, and cheap! Free margarita was ok, but the price was perfect! Only things keeping me from 5 stars were the mole sauce, which to me was very different than anything I've had in Texas, which made my meal a bit off-putting, and the guac, which I thought had too many onions but my GF thought was just fine. Lastly, this place is small, so be prepare to wait during anything near peak hours. Bottom line, if you want Mexican in Conshy, GO HERE! read more

This place is where it's at. But I suggest actually going there to get the gloriousness first hand. BYOB. Free margaritas- which I, being oh so clever, added some tequila to on one of my visits. But it was unnecessary, though it added a nice kick, as they aren't as watered down as people say. They are delicious and free. How can you go wrong??? You can't. Not even with the food. Seriously. Eat and drink here. Suggestions. Get the burritos that you definitely (or shouldn't unless you want your stomach to explode) won't finish in one sitting. Or the steak alambre, my ultimate go to. Delicious. Huge portions. The sauces are amazing. Just so much goodness on a plate and for such a cheap price! This place has become a family favorite, which is a feat in of itself considering how picky my family can be about food. This is a great little place to fulfill your taco cravings. I feel like El Limon is always busy with constant in and out traffic. They have free margaritas but they do limit you to just 2 drinks per person. The drinks are really watered down so don't expect to come here to pre-game. The service is efficient but not always the friendliest. No free chips here my friends. If you want chips, you need to order them. I'm so used to getting free chips that it feels almost scandalous to have to order chips at a Mexican place. Food wise, I love their tacos here. My personal favorite is the marinated beef.
