The food is so special, unique and well thought out. The ingredients are locally sourced, items are hand made, lots of love go into every dish--and the service reflects this! Everyone was knowledgeable, caring and passionate about the food and your experience. The lighting is low, creating a warm, cozy vibe. Drinks complement the whole experience! This is one of my new favorite spots!

The food was outstanding and the staff was quick and attentive. If you're looking for a sexy little upscale Mexican restaurant, this is the one for you.

This was a fantastic meal! The restaurant is super cute (make a reservation). Our server, Armani, was amazing. Great recommendations and very good at checking in. The blue crab toasts great delicious, but the whole chocolate mole sea scallops were amazing. Loved the tacos too. Great restaurant, very excited to go back!

This was some of the most unique and passionate food I've eaten this entire year. Crazy that this is right near home. Fantastic food and explanation of dishes and how the food is made. I spoke with one of the owners and he was super personable and passionate about the food his brother was cooking up and it shows. This place deserves all of the publicity and then some because restaurants like this in STL are not common. The quality of the food here is next level. Definitely come and try multiple dishes. Guaranteed you will leave saying you've never had anything like that before.

Tour de Taco rolled into El Molino del Sureste, and wow -- this spot is something else. The Montes de Oca brothers are bringing Yucatán roots and serious culinary chops to STL, and you can taste the heart they put into every dish. Their secret weapon? A 10-horsepower wet mill grinding house-nixtamalized masa daily. That masa shows up in tortillas, tamales, and more -- and you can taste the difference. We kicked things off with cocktails, and the Perra Salada stole the show -- tangy grapefruit, sotol, lime, and a tajín rim that just begged for another sip. The chips and dips weren't your average starter either: sikil pak (pumpkin seed dip) that was earthy and nutty, plus smooth black beans with queso fresco. The mains brought the wow factor: Chile en Nogada -- poblano stuffed with beef + pork picadillo, bathed in walnut sauce and dotted with pomegranate seeds. Stunning and rich. Tamal Colado -- banana-leaf wrapped masa filled with cochinita pibil. Comfort food with flair. Cochinita Pibil Taco -- citrusy pork topped with bright pink pickled onions. Simple, bold, and perfect. El Molino isn't "just another Mexican restaurant." It's a place where tradition meets creativity, and the result is unforgettable. STL foodies, you need to check this one out. And while you're at it -- follow me here on Yelp, plus over on Facebook and Instagram, to keep up with all my foodie finds, cocktails, and sassy adventures. #TourDeTaco #STLFoodie #ElMolinoSTL #TheLouAndBeyond

El Molino was absolutely the perfect choice for Valentine's Day! They had a specialized 4 course menu, and each bite was absolutely delicious. The turkey mole rosa dish was so flavorful, I could've sworn it was pork tenderloin. The ability of the chefs to bring out such incredible flavors in their ingredients is worth the price tag. Of course the super friendly service was a lovely cherry on top! A bit pricey for everyday dining, but will definitely keep El Molino bookmarked for special occasions

Did not expect to like it so much after reading some polarizing reviews. This place is the real deal and their recent James Beard nom solidifies it. Was never a huge scallop guy, but theirs served alongside a white chocolate mole proved to be the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and spicy. The braised octopus was another interesting pick but the dish that really set things off was the pork belly chop. This was one of the most flavorful pork belly dishes I've ever had. Their goat cheese flan was also a hit; an S-tier desert and top 5 in the city, however, you really need to like goat cheese for it to hit the same. All in all, this place rocked. Authentic and delicious. I just hope to God they're able to relocate to a more accessible location than where they're currently at. Favorite dishes: Scallops, pork belly chop, goat cheese flan

I really enjoyed El Molino. It reminded me of authentic Merida/Yucatan food and was really unique to other Mexican restaurants around. The service was fantastic as well. Tried: sea scallops, corn masa dumplings with mushrooms and mole, pork and pork belly tacos, masa fritter, and goat cheese flan Loved: the sea scallops and masa fritter were highlights for me in addition to the goat cheese flan. The sea scallops were well cooked and the white chocolate mole was unique but very tasty. The masa fritter was crispy and had a lot of meat in it. Lastly, the flan was a light goat cheese flavor, not too much but unique and very good flavor. Disliked: parking is a little annoying with parallel parking in addition to the construction currently happening, but it's free which is nice. Also for as nice as a restaurant and food as it is, the ambiance is a little more casual than I would expect.

My son took me here for my birthday dinner in October. It was a unique Mexican restaurant because their items are authentically made. Overall I liked it. We ordered three appetizers, two main courses, I enjoyed the appetizers more than my main entree. My main entree was very very very salty. I could not eat it. People are very nice so we did not complain at all. My son's main course was OK but with the price the quantity was very small. The overall dinner was pretty costly. They gave me a free dessert which we appreciated but it was way over sweet and man oh man we only had three bites and had to leave it there. I do not think we will go back.

Everything we ordered was uniquely flavored and very high quality. The menu was somewhat overwhelming at first, but our excellent waitress walked us through it with enthusiasm and patience! We started with the tamale, pork belly taco and coconut shrimp taco. All 3 were excellent but my favorite was the coconut shrimp which had a tamarind sauce. We shared the fresh fish dish and the Wagyu beef rib. Both were delicious large enough to share. Overall, the flavors were unique and spot on. We will be back!

Wow 10/10! Some of the best food I've ever had & I have had a lot of authentic Mexican cuisine! The service was incredible and you can tell they are passionate and knowledgeable about the food and experience they create! The ambiance is relaxing with great music! I had so many amazing dishes and we cleared every plate, our favorites were the Suadero taco and the blue crab tostada! I can't even believe there are reviews that are not 5 stars! You can't beat that quality or flavors! We will definitely be back and be regulars! What's great is even if you don't want to spend a lot you can always just go grab a couple tacos! Our server Armani was so attentive and kind!

I really wanted to love this place, because the employees were so nice and I really liked the owner. However, the cost for the food was not worth what you got and, overall, a decent amount of the stuff we got didn't have an awesome taste. By that I mean, the taste of the dessert we got was so bad that we couldn't consume more than one bite and were so disappointed by the experience - it felt like gastronomy gone SO wrong. Additionally, we waited forever for everything to come out and for service in general. The place was cute and the owner was a really cool dude, but I can't recommend to come here when we waited forever, had food that didn't taste great, and paid a lot. Hopefully they get some kinks worked out and things get better in the future.

Be prepared to spend money, OK! One of my cocktails was almost $20! It's a farm-to-table Mexican restaurant serving authentic Yucatán cuisine with small plates and shareable options, most of which have a kick (spice) to them! I loved my blue crab tostada and everything tasted fresh. The food had unique flavors I've never had before and it was delish. The only downfall was that there was only one server and he had a difficult time with our bill and service was slow.

Surprisingly, it still worked. I ordered the Good Burger, and it was honestly one of the most flavorful smash burgers I've ever had. I was genuinely impressed. I got the sauce on the side since it also came with the onion rings, and unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of it -- it was a bit runny and lacked flavor.
