I am an African American woman. I went into the dealership today 4/1/2022, NO JOKE, with the express purpose of leasing an new Altima. I have leased with Nissan in the past so I know my numbers and credit rating. The first issue is that 1) there were not the number of cars on the lot that were displayed on the website which is quite misleading. This is important because the model and color I was interested in was not on the lot. 2) after explaining what my objective was, the salesperson went to get a person described to be knowledgeable about leasing. However, I found the person disinterested in leasing a car to me. 3) Without any real discussion about numbers, I was told the offer I came for was not available and was only available for the one vehicle indicated on the offer (which I understand and which is why I chose what I thought was a dealership with an inventory of 25 Altimas). 4) I told the gentleman what monthly leasing price I was prepared to pay and he quickly told me I'd have to pay higher than I what I was seeking. He didn't know my name, my credit score, down payment, or ANY relevant information that would support his price quote or contradict my price request. El Monte Nissan clearly DID NOT want to sale/lease me a car. I am disappointed in El Monte Nissan and Infiniti/Nissan Financial due to the new imposition on 3rd party lease buyouts. So I feel hostage to Infiniti/Nissan for this next deal. Last week my check engine light came on. I came here and I was told that there was too much airflow going into the engine. The repair was $390 with $66 going to parts the rest on labor. They replace a pvc valve. I waited about an hour and a half in the lobby. The lobby is nice. Plenty of places to sit, free coffee, and wall plugs. The check engine light was no longer on and the car sounded better. I was happy with the repairs. Today the check engine light came back on, so I went back. I came in at 3:50pm. I was told by Steven that they're short on technicians so they might not be able to check it by today. I told him I'd wait and see since they close at 7pm. After about twenty minutes of waiting, Steven told me that they'll let me know in an hour if they could fix the problem. If not I'd have to bring the car back tomorrow. Steven did say they'd also wash the car, so that was nice. I waited until about 5:20pm. Steven told me that they couldn't run a diagnostics on the car while the engine is hot. It would take up to three hours for the engine to cool and by then they'll be closed. He told me to bring back the car when they open at 7am tomorrow. I don't understand why they couldn't tell me that earlier. They should have just told me to come back tomorrow when I first got there. They gave me the keys to my car and I left. My car had not been washed. Also they used the air conditioner. I'll be back tomorrow. I did come back the following day and left the car. I called about three hours later and they told me it was a problem with the gas throttle. Luckily, my car was under 80k miles so the part was still under warranty. They fixed the problem and everything else was great. I gave them 3 stars overall because I feel that the throttle problem should have been found the first time if they did do a full engine check. Im also thinking if I wasn't under warranty how much more in addition to the $390 I already paid was I going to pay. I was straight up lied to me multiple times. Josh overcharged me a ton by saying the labor to change a heat sheild would take 3 hours. They didn't do the work they said they did and didn't fix my car. I paid $200 for a diagnostic and they didn't even test drive my car before or after "working" on it so when they gave me the car back saying it was running great and they fixed the problem but they didn't and it was still not running correctly. The check engine light even came right back on the next day for the same problem. Come to find out they didn't even test drive it like they were sopose to do for the diagnostic that I paid $200 for and they admitted this to me. They also charged me $670 parts and labor for a heat sheild they didn't even have. So when I asked for a refund for the parts and labor for the heat sheild they didn't have I also wanted a refund for the diagnostic because they didn't do it. So Josh changed the estimate he gave me from 670 to 470 on the heat sheild so he wouldn't have to refund me the full amount. Straight up lied to my face again! They didn't even fixed my car and still over charged me for cleaning my mass air filter sensor and it wasnt even the problem and and didnt fix my car and the check engine light came back on the next day for the mass air flow sensor. I paid them for what they did (cleaning the mass air flow sensor) but that wasn't even the problem and didn't even fix my car. Anthony the manager was just as bad to deal with and lied as well as Josh by changing the original estimate from $670 to $470 inorder to refund me less for a part they didn't even install. They also charged me 3 hours of labor( at $190 an hr) for something that pepboys was able to do with 1 hour of labor (at $160 an hr) of changing the heat sheild. I suggest you just go to pepboys or any where else because Josh is over charging people and screwing people out of money anyway he can and straight lieing about how long the work takes to charge people more in labor. I should have recieved a full refund because the work they did on my car didn't even fix anything because that wasn't the problem but they didn't know that because they didn't test drive the vehicle like I paid them to do. read more

Came to this place for a check engine light that both me and my mechanic both ran test on and both of us came back with the same result it was the mass air flow sensor. Dealer charged me extra stuff stating it was necessary told them if it absolutely needed it to go ahead and do it's my only way of transportation. A day later the light goes back on and same code pops up. They didn't fix it till the second time I brought it in I spent 2 grand here. After I took the paper work of the stuff the did to my car to my mechanic and he said I didn't need most of it and he felt bad that I had to come here do to a computer reset. We had our car stolen from the service department : ( This would be a 0-1 star review if Fred in sales had not been such a nice guy and helped us through this situation as best he could. The wool wasn't pulled over our eyes though as we do understand that he basically saved the service management and department from taking any responsibility for this situation. Keith in service was about as bad as it gets. Backstory: The vehicle was brought into Ross Nissan in 2019 due to a break-in. Back Right window was smashed. Unfortunately, when they did the repair, they did not fully address/repair this properly, so the window continued to have issues and the pandemic postponed any further attention. I reached out to the GM about the situation and was never contacted by him, but instead he just forwarded my message to Keith. Keith said to bring it in and that they wouldn't charge for the diagnostic (thought things were pretty sweet with this deal) but that the dealership is no longer Ross Nissan and is under new management, so we'd have to pay for any repairs if it was unrelated to the broke window. Kingsley calls us to say (surprise surprise) "it's the motor and has nothing to do with the broken window". We have since confirmed that the shards of glass blocking the window from going up and down properly and the continued pressing of the button would indeed lead to a dead motor...aka related to the poor job by Ross Nissan. Anyhow, the car was dropped of on Wednesday morning. Thursday evening we get a phone call from a woman saying our car is supposedly outside her business with all the windows rolled down and papers thrown all over the place. We thought it was a set-up of some sort, a fake claim. (As the car was left at the dealership). We called the dealership repeatedly and kept getting a busy signal, so drove there. Service department was closed, so went to sales. There was a nice employee that was reassuring us the car was there and that they would take us back to see it. Fast forward an hour, police are called and our car is being reported stolen. Police advise us not to talk with the woman calling us and not to go to the address as they claimed it was a "bad address" (at the end of all this, it wasn't, it was just a small cluster of businesses and the address was confusing). We filed a report, Fred was nice but couldn't help us as he said sales and service are two different entities. Next morning, I was expecting a phone call and did not receive one. Finally around 10:30 AM, I called the service manager, Keith. Rather than go over the entire conversion, the bottom line was that he never apologized for what happened, he said "how can it be stolen if we have the keys". He claimed to have watched 48 hours of video footage and said there was "no footage of the car being stolen". Obviously frustrated and getting angry at this point, we went to the police department to get the report and release, then headed to see Keith. When we went in, it was the same treatment. Short, rude, he even said "it was a heavy set woman who drove the car off the lot" which countered his claim of not having that footage when we talked on the phone. He also claimed it was parked in a lot with "no security cameras" (mind you this is a vehicle with a broken window that was completely rolled down, doesn't seem like a logical place to leave it). He said he would not be filing a claim and that we had to file with our insurance. But, he didn't realize we had already spoken to insurance and they had instructed us not to file a claim as the dealership was to be liable for the loss since it was stolen off of their lot while under their care. We ended up walking out of there because when I'd speak to Keith, he'd literally turn his head and look away and not answer any of my questions. He was beyond unprofessional. Beyond rude, and at the end of the day OUR CAR WAS STOLEN from their lot and he claimed it wasn't their problem or concern. No apology. No responsibility. End of the story is, Fred ended up selling us a new car as the car was indeed found outside the business the woman had claimed it was, but it had been taken for a joy ride and ruffed up, and all the windows were down over night in the rain. Fred helped us out with reducing costs and was really kind. I'd give him 5 stars on his own. But, it doesn't truly take away from the terrible experience we had with the service department. If you want a new car, Fred it great. If you need service, absolutely go elsewhere they are a nightmare and your car is not safe there. read more

Review what you sign! I signed a lease contract to later find out that the add on (Auto-theft Recovery $995.00) is non refundable. When I spoke to the vendor that manages the add on, they said it is refundable. The Nissan Sentra was purchased at El Monte Nissan in 02/2022 and I sold it back to them in 07/2022. While reviewing the contract, I noticed that the Auto-Theft Recovery contract had someone else's name. I tried canceling the contract but the vendor said I could not cancel it because it was not under my name. On 08/03/2022- I went down to the dealer and was informed by Frank Hernandez, Financing Officer that he would look into it and that he would return my call on Friday 08/05/2022. Surprise! No call back. I went back to the dealer on 08/09/2022 and was assisted by aka JoJo (Jose) and he explained that the Auto-theft recovery add on is non-refundable and referred to it as a hard add on. He further explained that it should have been stated during the financing. When asked to show me in writing he could not produce it. They couldn't even find my contract. But given that the charge was on my financing contract and that the Auto-theft contract had someone else's information, he would look into it. I received a call back minutes later from Jojo. He stated that his boss said it's non-refundable even if it's not under my name because the VIN of the car was correct. Now, I know that it was never discussed and it is clearly not on any paperwork they provided to me. I will definitely be reporting (what I think), unlawful practice to the Better Business Bureau and look into it with my lawyer. read more

Took My Car In to get transmission fixed, ended up paying out-of-pocket for some stuff not covered by warranty, ended up getting a new transmission. Cool. Drove my car for 3 days just for my car to overheat and stall out on me. This was Christmas weekend. Ruined my entire weekend. There was a coolant leak. Brought my car back. (dealership got a tow truck) and again, some work needed to be done to the cooling fan or some shit. IDK. I told them to just fix my car. Got my car back, only for it to break down again on NYE !!!! Coolant was leaking all over my driveway again. Was able to drive the car back to dealership. Was told not to worry about it, it's all covered under warranty. Fine. I got my car back 1/8/18. I found that the bass on my sound system was turned all the way up to MAX. I found this odd, as I never have it at this level. Fuck it. Whatever. I went home, that evening I went to my job. Woke up this morning to clean out my car, when I found a bottle of cheap ass Potter's Vodka wedged under my seat. I don't drink cheap Vodka. It's either Kettle One for mixing or Grey Goose on Ice. I'm more of a cognac man. Now this makes sense. Bass turned up, liquor in the car, these guys are just having a pow-wow in my car. No wonder these morons can't fix a car right. So basically the alcohol bottle was blamed on me. Of course they are not going to own up to it. Garlan, sales manager, did not help. Nor did I expect him to. Martin is a moron. He assured me the last two times my car was okay, when it wasn't. Alex worked with me the first time. That dude is cool. My Transmission was fixed. I think the engine cooling was a separate issue. Martin is a moron. I don't give a flying fuck that everything was covered. That's the whole point of buying extended warranties. But what I can't get back is the time I took off work. Car trouble is no fun but when you have a great team like Nissan El Monte to help it takes the stress off. So I've had my Nissan for almost 10 years and I have been with John Kuo as my service advisor and now friend because he is honest and reliable. John joined the El Monte location after being at the Nissan Duarte for many years. I always make sure to call and schedule an appointment because they do get extremely busy and i find if I have an appointment I am always in and out with no time. They do offer drop off and pick up services within certain miles and time of day/nights (double check in advance). They have a decent size waiting area with 3 TVs and lots of seating, they also have a kids play room to keep the young ones entertained (Awesome!) A drinking and snack vending machine is available in the waiting area but if you are looking for something free they also have that ;) they offer free coffee and water bottles. On some Morning I have seen they have fresh donuts or snacks. I know it's hard to trust people with your car but I highly recommend this location and the service they offer. What a waste of time! Last night I emailed them the price (25K) I had hoped for. The salesperson replied this morning, asking me "if we could somehow do 25K", when will you come in? I then asked for a detailed quote. He sent me a quote with a price of 27K, plus "alarm & door edge protector" of 1K. (What are they for?? I think just to trick me to pay more.) I emailed back saying that this is much higher than what he said he was trying to do, then he said "nobody could do 25K".
