Kids eat free on Tuesday! Overall, solid Tex Mex but nothing outstanding. I felt a few ingredients were missing from some of the dishes - No beans or rice in the taco salad and no sauce on the fish tacos. Perhaps they're still working on some issues. I had high hopes for this place, but was disappointed. ***I will say up front, I was with a group, and didn't want to cause a disturbance, so in all fairness, the restaurant was not given an opportunity to make any corrective action if they chose to.*** We were a party of 10, and seated at a long table outside of the kitchen. The space has concrete floors and an industrial type exposed open ceiling which creates a very noisy room. Additionally, there was a speaker over our table blaring music that was not conducive to visiting while dining. Our waiter struggled a bit with taking our orders, and was unable to give me a price for ala carte tacos. I was quoted "about $4.00," and they were $4.50 each. I ordered Al pastor tacos. When they arrived, they were overly oily/greasy & fatty, and tasted over seasoned. My dining partners ordered the tamale plate, mole enchiladas, a salad & shrimp fajitas. The comments I heard were: Tamales were good & rice was great! The Mole sauce was very salty, and the shrimp fajitas were a little difficult to eat because the tails were left on. At no time during our meal did our waiter follow up & ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything. I think El Nuevo can get it together with additional training and more quality control in the kitchen. I'll try them again in a few months to see if there has been any improvement. read more

Went back tonight and had a wonderful meal. Our table tried the queso with ground beef and guacamole... it was fantastic! The guacamole gave it a fresh taste. El Nuevo is a good, cheap, place for tasty Mexican food. A strength of this place is every time I've been, they have exceptionally good service. They are friendly and chatty at check in and the service is very prompt. They have multiple personnel running around the floor while some take orders others refill chips and salsa and others bring your food. They are all very friendly and do a good job. Their drinks, specially the prices are very reasonable, especially the happy hour specials. I prefer the Paloma they usually use fresh grapefruit in the mix and it is really good. Margaritas are acceptably, can't say they are great and definitely not bad but again at the happy hour price point a good bargain. The food is what lowers their score. It is acceptable and average. We have tried many different dishes and all fall in the middle ground of not great but not bad. With Mexican food their are many opinions with regard to spice level, TexMex versus authentic style, sauces, etc so it is hard be specific for any person. So overall I say all the dishes I have tried here fall in that middle of the road rating. However they do have reasonable prices especially if you have seniors and/ or kids for the children's menu for your family. So I do recommend this place for a a good quality average experience that excels at customer service. The great service adds to the star rating but the middle of the road food lowers it so a solid 4. read more

Absolutely tasty. I brought my parents from Mexico and they specifically asked if the sauces were really spicy. They were assured they were not. Plates came out and they were on the higher end of mild. The salsa that was brought out with the chips was a bit spicy but so addictively good. I will return for sure. read more

I don't do these often, but....worst experience in a restaurant that I have had in a very long time. We were seated promptly, that's literally the only thing that went right! The restaurant wasn't crowded and there seemed to be plenty of staff. In spite of this it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order, she apologized for the wait, took our drink order, we also ordered queso and she took our food order too. After about 5 minutes she returned with our teas (2 ), not a complicated or complex order. Then nothing! No queso, no food. A person walked by our table no less than three times (turns out she was the manager), several other wait staff walked by, nothing. After about 15 minutes more, we notice our waitress and the manager walk out of the kitchen, waitress approaches with cold congealed queso. No apologies this time. I ask to speak to the manager, was informed that was who she had been talking too (I think as an explanation to the extraordinary amount of time we had waited). Manager came to the table and immediately informed me that she had been talking to our waitress this is why we had not had any service. Manager was rude and condescending, didn't seem to understand that when dealing with a waitstaff on shift that has active customers you should have another team member assist with the orders. The customer service at this place was horrible, will not return! Can't tell you how the food is, we never had the opportunity to taste it! BTW, when leaving, I asked for the GMs information and was told that the restaurant is family owned, she's family and well.....! Anyway, would not recommend, will not return! read more

What a great surprise! My husband and I went here tonight and it was absolutely delicious! We had combination fajitas, queso and frozen margaritas. The meat was super flavorful and not fatty or greasy, which is rare! Queso was super cheesy and good. But the stars of the show were those charro beans of theirs and homemade corn and flour tortillas!!! We both agreed this will be our new go-to in Georgetown. read more

This was the first time I been and it was decent. I can't complain the chips salsa and queso were great the shrimp diablo was good too. I ordered caldo de reyes and that was tambourine hand. They gave a lot of vegetables and the bowl was huge. I would need the steak to be seasoned a little bit. The steak was tender but just was missing flavor. The atmosphere was set for Christmas. The food was delicious and served hot. The corn and flour tortillas and the chips are fresh made in the restaurant. I was there on a quiet afternoon Saturday and I had quite a difficult experience. Me and a friend went there to catch up, we were there for nearly 5 hours. I had four drinks and two separate meals. The first bartender said that she needed to check out and wanted us to go ahead and pay. I paid my food and added an 18% tip. She then asked me to check to make sure that that was the right number as if the tip was too low. Sometime went on and my girlfriend asked for a glass of wine and I asked for a different drink the glass of wine that was served to my friend was probably 2 ounces. She asked if it was just a tester and they said that was the correct size.(since she owned restaurants she knows that it was a smaller pour.) I kept waiting for my drink and they said that I had been cut off, I was not falling off my seat. I am a very careful drinker. Moreover, I have had four drinks over the course of nearly 5 hours. They told my friend that they did not want to get in trouble regarding their liquor license and told her they would not charge her for her tiny glass of wine. I got the message I left and I need to come back. I left $10 cash- wished that I had not but I did not want them to say that we had left without paying. I've never been treated this way at any restaurant I've ever been at in my entire life. read more

The food here is fantastic. One of the top places for Mexican food I've had, especially in Georgetown. I always get the Pollo Poblano and am never disappointed. I've noticed some reviews saying the service isn't great, well I've always had good service here. Some staff know little English which is where I think the bad reviews come from and they shouldn't! They are very nice and the food is incredible. I highly suggest eating here. Ambiance is open with many tables so they can seat a large amount of guests, our food has always come out fast though. read more

For the quality of food against the price, definitely not worth it. They're charging you high quality food and service and atmosphere price, for mediocre everything. Charged me for tortillas that should have come with the carne asada steak in the first place. And auto gratuitied 20% for a family of five with kids. I don't think they used any taco seasoning, so the ground meat was just ground meat taste. lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese were on the side. The rice and beans didn't have any seasoning. My son just had a large queso. it was flavorless also. He had a regular Dr Pepper and I had water to drink. Price was OK I guess. $25 plus tip No suggested tip. In the old days prioce would have been high. I think Taco Bell tacos taste better and lower in price. I had to flag down someone to get refills on the chips. Salsa was way to hot to eat or use as a seasoning. The waitress said they do not have a milder salsa. Interesting since everything else was bland. The food here is pretty good, for the most part. Some of the tastiest ground beef I've had! I would not recommend trying the elotes appetizer, as it leaves a lot to be desired. We have dined here several times since their grand opening and the quality of service hasn't changed, it's very mediocre. As we are walking out we chatted with manager. He said he was just checking to see who was going to help us. The service was very disjointed. We had 8 people and several people ordered the same thing, and though they all looked the same, none of us got what we ordered. The first 2 orders came out fairly quickly, but it took about 15 minutes for everyone to get their food. The food was bland at best with no personality, and the temperature was on the cool side. The tortillas were cold and the chips and salsa were nothing to brag about. The atmosphere was ok, but a bit noisy. I know my Tex-Mex, and considering the location I expected better... should have gone to Taco Bell. Won't be going back a second time! read more
