I came to this restaurant for breakfast on Sunday after church. First of all this place is always good. The service is always good. The prices are reasonable. I came with my husband and my mother, who is in a wheelchair. The restaurant employees were very accommodating, giving us a table and pulling away the chair so my mother could pull her wheelchair up to the table. They gave us chips and 2 types of salsa, one was hot and one was less hot. They were both good. My mom had scrambled eggs and beans. I had tacos. I do not eat the beans here because they use lard. I realize that lard is the traditional way to cook the refried beans, but it is not in my diet so I skipped the beans, but they looked really good and my mother seemed to enjoy them. The food was good. The only difficulty I had is the tables are very close together, so it was very difficult getting my mother to the bathroom in her wheelchair. People had to get up and move for me, which was awkward. It would be good if they had a few less tables allowing a little more room between the tables so people with wheelchairs could travel through the restaurant without issues. The customers had to get up and move out of the way so I could push my mother through the restaurant to the bathroom. Everyone was very friendly. I didn't have to ask anyone to move, they were all courteous and saw my dilemma. They were truly Texas friendly and showing Texas hospitality! God bless Texas! I must say, however, because of the difficulty of taking my mother to the bathroom, I will not be bringing my mother back to this restaurant, although she loved the food very much. read more

Guys I think I just had the best chicken quesadilla I have ever had in my life! We had gone somewhere else for Mexican food and had the worst quesadilla I had ever seen, and so I wanted to try it here and it did not disappoint! We normally come here for the taco Tuesday one dollar taco special, but we wanted to come tonight to test the other food and the enchiladas were fantastic! First timer with Mrs. Texas. We meet my daughter, granddaughter, and my daughter's boyfriend here for lunch as they eat here often. Relaxing atmosphere, great service, good food. Mrs. Texas got the chicken flautas which she said they were pretty good. While I wanted to give this a four star review I realized the customer service and food deserves a five star review. This place has been here a very long time. I used to work on the other side of the street well over ten years ago. We used to get breakfast tacos here. I do not regret stopping in the other day after getting my lashes filled around the corner. The staff made me feel like I was a friend they were excited to see after a while apart. The music made me want to dance and the beer-rita was spot on! I ordered a combo plate. My first bite was the rice, it looked so fluffy and perfect! The rice was delicious! The beans, again perfect! My kids then walked in and finished my food. My kids said this was like being at "moms". "Mom" is their great grandmother, mom's food melts in my mouth. So it's safe to say the food did not lack flavor of any sort. The portions were worth my money. Can't wait to go back with my husband so he can try it!! read more

This is very no frills but the food is good and reasonably priced. Ambiance and premises reflect this. Service is just ok especially if it is crowded. Much more responsive for alcoholic drinks than iced tea or soda refills. We both had combo plates to try a few things. I don't like mixed chicken which is the taco and enchilada fill so went for the beef taco and enchiladas which had sides of beans and rice as well. Taco shell was small but filled with ingredients. Partner had pork carnitas and they were good too. Side of tortillas as well as rice and beans. Asked if the Tres Leches cake was made in house and waitress was unable to answer. After seeing her take it out of a plastic container and put it on a plate to serve it the answer was clear. It was alright but won't order again. The staff often keep a bucket with cleaning solution and a mop near the bathrooms so stay away from nearby tables. Very unappealing. Again, food and prices are good. read more

This is the second time I have gone to Mariachis for a steak. Ok first time a fluke, it just smelled good, and it was delicious. I have been trying to regulate my iron and protein intake. I thought, let's try it again. BOY, am I glad I did; I would come here for a fantastic T-Bone. I don't know what they marinate the steak in but goodness, what a steak. I am generous giving it 3 stars. I have eaten here numerous times as I live 5 minutes away but it is a sad example of Mexican food. My problem is I moved here from Oakland CA which has a huge immigrant community from Jalisco/Oaxaca etc and all they know is authentic Mexican food and seafood. This Tex-Mex shit is so disappointing if you know real Mexican food. Now we have to go to Mexico City (thank goodness it is a short flight from Austin) a couple of times a year to eat the real thing and of course Mexico City is famous for its amazing food. There are very very few acceptable authentic Mexican restaurants in the Austin area if you are looking for the real thing...but Mariachis is definitely not one of them. Anyone who gives this place 4 or 5 stars has no idea what they are talking about and needs a taste buds replacement. read more

I ordered the ground beef enchiladas with rice and beans and the small order of bean and cheese nachos for starters the enchiladas were supposed to come with sauce and there was sauce on them, but very little I got a dollop of rice and the beans were out of a can. They don't even make their own refried beans and this is a Mexican restaurant the small order of nachos for nine dollars consisted of six tortilla chips, some canned refried beans and a small amount of cheese. Meh - their food is ok. But I was really only here for dessert. Their dessert menu is kinda funny. Fried ice cream is listed twice with .25 difference in price, so you know that has to be some weird mistake. But really TWICE. So you know either it's really good or they have a lot of it. I'm always happy to see it offered anywhere, but when I ordered it, they didn't have any. None. Boo. So I order sopaipillas and they bring out four TINY sopaipillas with no whipped cream as shown in the picture. They're out of whipped cream. Gross. Blah. Cucumbers, tomato, avocado and cheese topped it off. My companion ordered the chile rellenos with charro beans and thoroughly enjoyed it (and took half of it home.)
