This is hands down my FAVORITE corn cup in the city! He used to be located on Blanco Rd near Lockhill-Selma then one day I went to get one and they were closed! I almost passed out! Then a few months later I was driving down San Pedro and saw their new location! I was so excited!! His corn cups are always fresh, super hot, buttery, and I ask for lime juice and I add lots of chile to make it nice and spicy! And his aguas frescas are super good! Everything is always fresh, but you have to take cash, he does not accept card. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE CASH ONLY! And have him squeeze fresh lime in your corn, it takes it over the top! read more

Finally a real paleta place on the north side!! So tired of paying crazy north side prices!! This place is open til 10pm so I can always swing by on my way home to stock up. The man up front is always so sweet and helpful and of course the paletas are yummy! The location is clean and easy to find with plenty of parking. Love this place!! read more

I really wanted to love this place as much as many of the reviewers, but I have been spoiled by the awesome food at Raspas El Payasito. The young man in the store was very nice and quickly took my order. I ordered corn in a cup and a fruit cup. The first thing I noticed about the corn was that it's just average canned corn. It should be made with freshly roasted corn. The fruit cup contained watermelon, pineapple, cucumber, and cantaloupe. The watermelon they used was overly ripe. The cantaloupe was hard. So I'm still in pursuit of a good cup of corn in San Antonio. read more

Hands down, this is the best corn cup I've had a chance to taste. After searching through a few places in my area, this was closest to me. I am happy to state, this place has the best. Fresh corn, and plenty of ingredients prepared just like I love. I requested freshly squeezed lime to add a hint of that acidic flavor. The staff was friendly and the wait wasn't long. Though they were busy, they really had their way of getting the line going. I may have to try something else in the future, but for I'm sticking with this cup for good. My friend and I have both been to a lot of mangonada places here in San Antonio. This place has the best corn and mangonadas easy. It's really inexpensive too compared to other places I've seen. If you're looking for a place to duck out of the sun and cool off with something cold, this is a good place to do it. They don't accept credit cards, checks, food stamps, debit cards, barters, layaway, or financing. Cash and change only. The lovely Korona Food Mart is there to help with an ATM machine. They have a full array of flavors, from bubble gum to lime, to anything in between. At no extra charge, they'll mix it up with different flavors! Better than Baskin Robbins! I was hoping for more when I saw the corn in a cup. People who say that this is the best in town are loco. They're using canned corn. It's not all that. Real corn in a cup has been roasted and served hot. This is a cheap knockoff, but it is cheap. They offer fruit in a cup with chamoy and chili powder, which looked enticing. The chamoy was the only real weird flavor on the menu. If you're not familiar, chamoy is a sort of Chinese plum topping that is put on fruits, drinks, and sweets- it's sweet and extremely tart, and bright red. The other treats looked pretty good- spicy Flamin' Hot Cheetos with that fake Rico's Cheese on it with pickled jalapeno slices! Nom! Everything here is quite reasonably priced. If you go in with a handful of change, you'll find something to chill with that's packed with sugar. If you buy in bulk, things get even cheaper. Need 30 paletas? This is the place. Compared to some of those paleta places in Southtown, like Steel City Pops, this place is a total bargain. The decor could use some work. It's mainly signs about what they offer. I wish they'd put something colorful to look at, like some artwork other than advertisements. read more

El Paraiso is a great place to escape the summer heat. My mom was having a major mangonada craving and her friend had told her about El Paraiso, we walked in and the place was packed which is always a good thing. The inside consists of two small cafeteria style tables with benches and paleta cases against the wall. Place your order at the counter and wait for your order to be called, the line forms very quickly and really never goes down because it's quite popular in this area. We spent $11 and got a mangonada, nachos, hot cheetos with cheese, a Mexican coke, and a corn cup...talk about a major deal! Everything tasted fresh and there wasn't anything I didn't like but I could only handle a bite of each because I was tearin' up the nachos. Know that they give very generous portions for what you pay, my family was scraping the corn cup sides and mangonada for any small amount they could savor. People kept coming in and grabbing for trays to fill up with paletas. The people that run the show are very helpful and are constantly making sure everything stays clean. First off, I love the hole in the wall vibe. I've heard great things. The Mangonada is legendary - so I'm told. And honestly the mango part of that was AHMAZING. It just had a little more Chamoy than I was used to, which made it a little overpowering. That said it was still good and I ate over half before having to tap out. The corn in a cup was fresh and tasty. Definitely a great spot and I'll be back for sure but maybe ask for a hair less chamoy. read more

I worked here and he was literally the meanest person ever. He would literally make fun of his own customers and talk so bad about his customers to me as soon as the customers left or even when the customers were there. At one point he made me walk get him a burger, he also frequently made me walk to the gas station to buy him Hot Cheetos. Also the tips he wouldn't even let me get them even when the own customers would say it was for me.. he would keep them and act like nothing. This place i do not recommend people to work or order from because he will literally treat you like crap!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING HERE OR ORDERING FROM HERE!!! read more

I've stopped by the cash-only El Paraiso a handful of times for their frozen bars. The selection of frozen bars is numerous. They always have a bountiful number of flavors ranging from vanilla to cantaloupe to butter pecan and everything in between. Prices for the bars are more than fair, starting at $1 per bar. The more you buy, the more you save as you can get 10 bars for $6, etc. The options other than frozen bars are sufficient. I don't eat chamoy, but El Paraiso offers many ways to eat the salty goodness. Corn in a cup always seems to be popular with customers. The place itself is very well kept and clean. The girl who runs the place always greets customers with a smile and makes them feel welcome. I love going by this place for dessert! read more

Great ice cream but the customer service is terrible. Had a horrible experience today, I walked in with my toddler to buy some ice cream and was not greeted. That did not bother me, what bothered me was the way I was treated by the cashier. They put tajin on my kids ice cream and I kindly told them that his was supposed to be without the tajin and if I can get another one. The girl then proceeds to roll her eyes and say "but you said you did want tajin on it" , i then again kindly told her "yeah sorry if that's what you understood but I only wanted tajin on mine since my toddler doesn't eat spicy things". She proceeds to start making my sons ice cream again and looks at me and again says "but you did say you wanted tajin, that's why we asked you at first" which I found so rude, unprofessional, and unnecessary when I was not once rude with her and she was already making the other one. They should not have people who hate their job working here. I come all the way from Austin to be treated like this for no reason at all, no thank you!! read more

I work close to this place so I have been here a few times but have only tried their fruit cup. I'll stop in during lunch when I'm feeling light something light or if I'm rushing running errands for work. The fruit is always very fresh and the portions are pretty big for the price. I usually get the small fruit cup and it's always enough for me. They fill it up with as much fruit as they can and the staff is always very friendly. The place is very small and if I happen to get there when there are quite a few people in there, I'll have to wait in line for a bit but it's always worth it. Love the paletas!! My husband and I bought 20 different creamy tasty paletas. Love the piña colada and the strawberry. Not watery tasting like the other el paraiso in town. We made the mistake of going to el paraiso (not de Mexico) and the paletas are not flavorful. Docked one star because of the corn in the cup- way too much better.
