Finally a real paleta place on the north side!! So tired of paying crazy north side prices!! This place is open til 10pm so I can always swing by on my way home to stock up. The man up front is always so sweet and helpful and of course the paletas are yummy! The location is clean and easy to find with plenty of parking. Love this place!!

I looooooove this place!!!!! This is the very best shaved I cream and elotes in this side of town! And the new location is perfect!

First time trying mangonada with some tamarind and I must say that it's really delicious. I am also a corn monster so their corn in a cup gave me a little taste of elotes!! Can I just say, the cheese in it melts perfectly!!!!

El Paraiso is a great place to escape the summer heat. My mom was having a major mangonada craving and her friend had told her about El Paraiso, we walked in and the place was packed which is always a good thing. The inside consists of two small cafeteria style tables with benches and paleta cases against the wall. Place your order at the counter and wait for your order to be called, the line forms very quickly and really never goes down because it's quite popular in this area. We spent $11 and got a mangonada, nachos, hot cheetos with cheese, a Mexican coke, and a corn cup...talk about a major deal! Everything tasted fresh and there wasn't anything I didn't like but I could only handle a bite of each because I was tearin' up the nachos. Know that they give very generous portions for what you pay, my family was scraping the corn cup sides and mangonada for any small amount they could savor. People kept coming in and grabbing for trays to fill up with paletas. The people that run the show are very helpful and are constantly making sure everything stays clean. Can't wait to head back!

The paletas are wonderful but the corn in a cup was underwhelming. Canned corn, greasy, not as good as others. I was disappointed. :(

The corn in a cup was okay, but the corn isn't fresh cut off the cob, at least it wasn't for me that day.

This shop sells fudge, truffles, candied apples, and - what I came for - ice cream! They had a lot of ice cream flavors to choose from, a least a couple dozen. The smiling young woman working behind the ice cream counter offered to give tastes, but I had already figured out which flavors I wanted. I chose two scoops in a cup, one of Cappucino Chip and the other Turtle Cheesecake. They have several tables to sit at, some along a hallway and more in a back room. I took a seat and was in awe of the huge scoops given. The Cappuccino Chip had a mild flavor (I prefer it stronger) but a fair number of tiny chocolate chips. The Turtle Cheesecake had an excellent cheesecake flavor with swirls of caramel, praline pecans, and caramel-filled mini turtles. I'm usually not fond of nuts in my ice cream but I actually enjoyed the pralines. In my humble opinion, there were too few turtles. But I still loved it. If you're in the mood for a cold, creamy treat while visiting the Alamo, you'll find this to be the perfect place to visit.

I was responsible and only ordered two things-- the dark chocolate sea salt twist and dark tonga shortbread. Customer service was superb from Jonathan. He was friendly, personable, and does his job well. I was excited to try these two treats, but unfortunately, I did not enjoy them. There was a strong cardboard aftertaste and I just couldn't get over it. I was fine with the one bite. Disappointing because I spent $10, but hoping this was a one off. If I'm in San Antonio, Texas again I may give them another try.

Despite my thoughts being scattered, a worker by the name of Josh made it all worth the while with his amazing, and quick service. The real issue came at the cash register. The woman handling payments was, unfortunately, not kind at all. In fact, "rude" would be the most generous description. It actually took my wife about ten minutes just to complete the payment for a couple of ice creams, which felt longer than the ice cream itself took to melt. What made it even more uncomfortable was watching how she interacted with other employees. It wasn't just unprofessional--it was the kind of scene you'd expect in a low-budget psychological thriller where you start wondering if someone should call for backup. So while the ice cream itself and the front-line staff were great, the overall experience was overshadowed by the atmosphere at the register. Small, crowded, and unkind is not a combination that brings us back. We'll pass next time.

There is no seating inside but a couple of tables sit outside. I think I counted 16 unique flavors when I visited. The cordial woman doing the scooping kindly offered tastes but my ice cream radar had already zeroed in on my choices. I chose chocolate orange and caramel salt lick. In a cup. I took a seat outside and was in heaven. Both scoops were so creamy and had bold flavor. The caramel salt lick perfectly describes it - salty caramel flavor.
