Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was clean and they gave her some free sopapilla well chips really not actual sopapillas for her birthday and they sang to her. We got three different things and each of us enjoyed our food. I always love the different dips. They provide with the chips and eat way too much. Every year I take my adult children out for dinner wherever they want to go and they can get whatever they want on the menu and it's on me. This year my daughter chose El Patron. Now my first experience here was when I turned 50 during COVID in 2020. I have been a few more times since then so I was already familiar. This was my kids and grandkids first time. They all loved the restaurant and my granddaughters loved how pretty the ladies bathroom was. The inside of the restaurant is clean and modern with a full bar. My kids had the fried pork belly guacamole and queso as appetizers. I had my favorite Corona margarita on the rocks which is so delicious! Victor was our waiter and I gave this review a 4 due to Victor and his service. He was very nice, a great attitude and professional. My only critique is he wasn't attentive. We have been meaning to try El Patron since we attended an election watch party 2 years ago. We finally got around to it. The ambiance and the service were excellent. It's very spacious and the black decor is elegant and creates a relaxed atmosphere. What I like about the lunch menu is that you can choose your sides in addition to your entree. Dan and I don't like rice. We were happy that we could order guacamole instead of rice. We both got a chile relleno, beans, and guacamole. We thought the food was a bit bland so we asked if they had a hotter salsa. They did and it was hot. It was perfect with the milder sauce they brought with the chips. We added the salsa to the food and were happy. We always ask for a hotter salsa at Mexican restaurants and are surprised at how many restaurants have it but you just have to ask for it. I'm a big sauce girl, so I love that they have 3 sauces: red, ranch, and sweet green. The red was good but compared to the others they were better. The ranch one is like a more spiced (but not necessarily spicy) version of your regular ranch. My family seemed to like it the best. I really like the sweetness of the green still and how it's unique. Refreshing too. It isn't your typical verde sauce, more like a fruity or cucumber type flavor than green chilies. Very large menu which I love so I had trouble deciding but ended up on the verde enchiladas with chicken. Very good. I always forget how simple they are on the inside, pretty much just chicken but that's ok. Good flavor and somewhere right in the middle of juicy and dry. Fairly Good amount of chicken. LOVED the verde sauce! Different from complimentary green sauce mentioned above, which I was wondering about and happy about it being different/ more the normal verde sauce for the dish. It's one of the kinds that's more sour. Lots of good flavor. Would totally order again just for the sauce being the verde sauce how I like it. The beans were standard (still good) but I'd say the rice here is actually a bit better compared to many others. Just seemed to have more flavor like chicken broth, and good amount of veggies to add more of the flavor. I also have ordered the verde pozole (I think is what it was) which at the time was a new item. I haven't been in a while and I hope they still have it. It was so delicious!!!! Update 3/16/24 The shrimp on the Pollo Norteño was fabulous. Large plump fresh tasting shrimp, perfectly cooked to deliver a nice snap when biting into them. Lightly seasoned and covered in hot melted cheese. All this, over a large thin grilled chicken breast floating on a bed of peppers, onions and tomatoes sauteed in butter. An outstanding plate of flavor. Not a light meal. This meal is absolutely recommended! My wife had the El Patron Bowl. A big healthy bowl of black beans, lettuce, and Pico de Gallo topped with grilled seasoned chicken. Both meals were very good. I would like to have given El Patron 5 stars on this visit. The service is still lacking. It was adequate. We got our meals and the waitress disappeared until time for the check. An offer to refill our drinks was all I was hoping for. El Patron is a nice large comfortable restaurant with an upscale ambiance, creating an expectation that the quality of the service will match the quality of the food. The steak quesadilla as an entree was amazing! I highly recommend as the steak was good quality and they gave you plenty.

The customer service is good as far as the manager that we requested to come to our table due to the food she never gave to our table . The waiter took the plate instead to go show her. When asked how we wanted the meat medium/rare . The meet came out dry and well done . The rice and beans was flat . El Patron is my go-to spot--period. I've been coming here for a while and honestly, even though I order the same things every time (creature of habit!), the food never disappoints. Everything's flavorful, fresh, and just hits right. Shoutout to Gabby, the manager--she's the best. Always welcoming and on top of everything. Makes the place feel even more like a neighborhood gem. Now... I do have a bone to pick: I miss the Killer Margarita. That drink was elite. I get it--it might've been too good--but maybe bring it back with a little restriction? Like, you can only order it if you're with two or more people. Just a thought. One last thing: the bar seating. I'm not super tall, but my knees barely fit under there. If there's ever a remodel, maybe raise it a few inches? Would make it way more comfortable to sit and vibe. Overall, still 10/10. Just a few tweaks away from perfection. read more

I ordered fajitas. They only came with two tortillas, and when I asked for more, they told me I'd have to pay for them. The fajitas were covered in grease and some soupy-looking tomato sauce. I didn't get shredded cheese with the fajitas either and had to pay extra for that. Instead of bringing shredded cheese, he brought a small side of queso. Our drinks never got refilled either. First thing, walking in, this place is so bright. Like hurt your eyes bright....Why??? We sat at the bar. Bartenders had no idea how to make drinks. My husband was giving them directions. We ordered fajitas. When they were just "dropped in front of us"- no plates, no silverware, no tortillas..... Took at least 5 minutes to get those. This place is right on the corner of 41st and Garnett The inside has lots of indoor seating. This place is clean. They make their own flour tortillas in an area customers can see them being made. I ordered the Santa Fe and my husband ordered the beef fajitas and table side guacamole. They brought out chips and 2 different types of salsa and one white mayo based dip. The green salsa was sweet but it was good. The white dip my husband likes but had a definite mayo taste to it. The Red salsa - was standard salsa. The guacamole was not made at the table but bright out to our table instead. The flavor was nothing unusual. After a short wait, the food came out hot and fresh. The flavor was outstanding. I have been wanting to check this place out. The restaurant has a great look and feel! The bar area is very cool and they appear to have a very nice outdoor space. The waitstaff was friendly and service was quick. Their menu is huge. They have great prices for lunch with nice variety too. They bring three different salsas to the table fairly quickly - red, white and green...all are tasty! My dish came with steak, shrimp and chicken sautéed with onions, zucchini and tomatoes over rice with cheese! I look forward to going back when I can check out their margaritas. Loved the food, drinks, chips and salsa. I can't believe this is the old Delta Cafe, the decor and remodel looks so great. Our server was on point and not gonna lie the drink was strong and made me a little tipsy. My shrimp was cooked to perfect and I can't wait to meet friends for dinner and drinks! Ok... so the top shelf margarita is ok.... I need to try a normal one but it's ok.. the first time we went I grabbed the fajitas and with the home made tortillas I was very surprised at how good they were. I was sooo full I couldn't even think about want to do anything else... now the interesting thing is they give you three dipping sauces with the chips and well I was really only a fan of the regular salsa.
