Many of my friends have told me about the happy hour here so I decided to check it out for myself. When I sat down, the guy next to me said this was his favorite bar I'm Carson and I can see why. This bar was probably the nicest bar I've been to in carson and the prices were great during happy hour. Huge $5 margaritas and affordable sliders such as tacos and quesadillas from $1.25-$3.25. Everything was good and the drinks were stiff, except I didn't care for the chips and salsa much. It was bland and not spicy. My bartender Gus was very attentive and always made sure out drinks were full and we were attended to. However, when we tried to close the tab our card was misplaced. I don't think it was the bartenders fault because when we have it to him I watched him place it with the rest of the cards, he was right in front of me. I think that it possibly was knocked over the ledge and fell in the trash or something but it vanished!!! I wasn't too bothered, I can go into chase and have a card made tomorrow. The staff comped our meal and drinks and Gus personally apologized and asked us to give him another chance which I thought was nice and thoughtful. Walked in and there is a club-like environment on the right side and the left side was geared towards the restaurant sit down portion of the venue. I was able to be seated right away and ordered my food. It took a little while for the drinks and appetizer of guacamole dip on the side to come but no worries. I ordered an all meet type of food medley and my date ordered one chicken taco, one shrimp taco, and ceviche. She thought it was all right and I thought my food was all right as well. I have gone to this place several times. It gets super packed on the weekends especially on a Sunday because they have like a buffet deal with a margarita or a drink, something like that. Advice:don't wait in lie to be seated in the main room just walk in and sit your butt down at the bar area. It's so much faster, you order and you don't have to wait in line. Or if you want to wait in line since sometimes they have entertainment in the main room like trio singing, or mariachi then just go to the bar and order a drink and wait in line. Yes! You are allowed to do that even if you are not sitting down at the bar. The food it's pricey, but it's good, regular food it's ok though. The drinks are phenomenal!! Waited a while to be seated. Couple waitress passed by and did not question us standing there. I got impatient and went up to one of them to be seated ,and sat us right away. Which I thought would probably be crowded due to how long we waited. The food was alright, but also took a while to arrive. I paid and wanted to leave a 10% tip since I was not as satisfied with the service, but the waitress demanded we must leave minimum 15% tip . When this place was built, I was super exited because my entire family loves mexican food and good restaurants in this area are few and far between!! I wasn't that impressed because this is not the typical mexican food we like. I like that it is seafood based since I am a pescatarian. However, I don't think this is the type of Mexican restaurant needed in this community. Food is just okay. It's pricey along with the drinks. Chips and salsa aren't bad either. This place gets crowded only because people hang out in the bar to watch sports. There is also karaoke and a live mariachi band some nights which makes for terrible parking in the small shopping complex. I feel sorry for the other businesses because of this. Not only that, this place was clearly built to service people coming from soccer games at the Stub Hub Center. Pretty great restaurant! I came here out of the spur in the moment with my little brother, we looked it up on yelp and it didn't have very great reviews but I'm glad we came here. Service was fast friendly and great! We were waited almost instantly we got seated and ordered as soon as we say down I surprised to see how cheap the margaritas were and was super happy about the price! The margaritas were like $4 each and tasted really good. Although.... The food I got wasn't the BEST food. This is the only reason I gave it 4 out 5. I got the enchiladas. Part 2/2 Mariachi arrival: Finally my mood lightens up when the Mariachi starts playing. I signal our waitress to come over and I order two more drinks and this was her response, " I'm sorry, but once you get your check. We can't take more orders, unless you spend $25 on drinks PER person on that table." What? I kindly told her, "why would you guys do that (obviously to gain more money)? First of all, this is not fair because we never asked you for the check, telling you we were ready to close our bill. You brought to us and we paid it because of how long you took to bring in everything else (this was our mistake). Well, although my friend and I would've kept getting more drinks, her sister was done for the night and basically in order for us to stay she HAD to get drinks,too. The waitress adds, "also, we have to clear the tables because there's reservations and a lot of people waiting." Advice: this policy is extremely preposterous- I read the comments that are not recommended and apparently other customers can attest to this. You are losing clientele because of this ridiculous, money pocketing policy. The Ortiz brothers need to sit down and address this issue. Also, a booty, fake eyelashes, and/or full-on makeup is not all that should be required to be a waitress. I can't speak for all your employees, but the two waitresses that interacted with us lacked enthusiasm, people skills, and professionalism. Dear Manager, Where are you? Why are you unresponsive to your concerned clients? Who are you? If you can lack problem solving and communication skills, in addition to leadership skills, how are you even filling this position? Please give your customers a good experience when they decide to invest their money on your restaurant in search of "authentic Mexican food". Your live Mariachi experience shouldn't be an additional money pocketing strategy. If you are NOT Latino they hope you leave by ignoring you for an extended length of time. Their lack of customer service is HORRIBLE!!! I have dined in twice and ordered takeout twice over the years and they have consistently provided me with bad service and I have given them more than their fair share of getting it right. On 1/17/24 I called for takeout. They gave me 15 minutes and I arrived in 10 minutes but while I was standing at the counter two employees did not care that I was standing at an empty counter where they seat you for dine in. The lady at the bar came to the counter to get something and looked at me and walked away. I guess it was not her job and then she walked by the counter a second time-still said nothing. A second employee came from the kitchen to get something from behind the counter just like the lady from the bar and he was not going to say anything until I asked if everyone was going to ignore me. He apologized and went back to the kitchen. Then a few minutes later the right person apologetically came from the kitchen area but it was far too late because now it's over 10 minutes of waiting. The guy said that he had just got there but it did not make sense for a restaurant to patrons but yet no one to greet you or attempt to act like they care that you are there. I have lived in the area a long time and way before the restaurant ever existed and I have friends who have experienced similar treatment. However my mom went with our Mexican neighbor and she said the service was outstanding but we went as a family not long afterwords and was treated differently. I drank 2 Sex on the Beach cocktails and water, and I ate a carne asada quesadilla with guac and sour cream and some chips and salsa. Nothing outrageous and it was my last meal of the day. The 2 Stars is due to the very good service we received or else it would have only been a 1 Star. Needless to say the service was good, but the food "Not so good." We went there on Monday December 4th, 2017, in the afternoon. It wasn't too busy (which should have been our first clue). We ordered 2 orders of the Chile Verde. The pork was moist but tasteless. The rice was horrible with something crunchy and the beans were so-so. My wife ordered the Rosarita Combo (shrimp enchilada and fish taco) She said the fish taco tasted like it was 2 days old and refried. The rice and beans were horrible like the others and the shrimp was overcooked and chewy. Thank God for the freshly baked chips and salsa. The chips were very light and salsa was fresh. If it wasn't for the chips, it would have been a total loss. Too bad for us, but if we don't go back it'll be a day too soon. read more

First of all the service was slow maybe because they just opened, second I ordered a chicken burrito because I don't eat red meat and next thing you know the food took forever to come and then I bite into my burrito and it's a freaking beef burrito. I had never been here despite it being so close to my house. I was too sick and tired to cook so decided to spread my germs and venture out. It was Taco Tuesday, but only in the bar area. Not a place for kids at the bar so we got a booth and enjoyed the quietness. They have a good kids menu. Service was great. My pina colada was delicious. The molcajete was burn the hair off your scalp hot. It was too spicy to enjoy. If I ever ordered it again I would ask for it without the chili. I kind of like my long hair. read more

Great place to go for a drink after work. We went on a Thursday evening and had a good time. They had a live band that started playing at around 8pm and they were awesome. They played a different variety of music, so no matter what genre you like, they played something you would like. The servers are friendly and are always making sure you have a drink, lol. Ours was Brenda and she took care of all of our drinks and food. Happy hour ends at 7, so if you want to take advantage of some deals on drinks and appetizers, arrive early. read more

Went here just yesterday for the first time with friends and co-workers for their Happy Hour which is 3pm -7pm Tues through Fri and ALL DAY happy hour on Mondays! There was about 10 of us total and when we arrived the large tables were already taken. Luckily we only waited a few minutes and was able to get two booths next to each other and HH is only available in the bar & seating area. Cool atmosphere, TV's everywhere and music playing. Good selection on drink and food specials. I ordered 3 martinis and 2 hard shell tacos, came out to about $20 with tip. I come here before I hit up the Home Depot Center sometimes (sorry, it's now called the StubHub Center). The interior and design makes it one of the nicest Mexican Restaurants I've seen. Very modern and clean look. Their menu is very detailed with numerous pictures of various plates that help a gringo like myself see what is what. I usually stick to the appetizers and drinks though. I little ceviche washed down with a couple beers always makes for the start of a good night out. The two star knock down has do with their food. The salsa for their chips tasted more like cocktail sauce than it did like regular salsa. Also, if you stray from the seafood, the rest isn't so great. As you can see by other Yelpers, the steak is bland and the chicken is dry. My wife can attest after ordering the fajita combo. I would definitely stick to the seafood on the menu. Prices are also a little high. The only Mexican restaurant in the South Bay that can justify charging $15-$20 per plate is Ortega 120, El Pescador can't. read more

Parking is in a commercial strip mall it does tend to get pretty crowded at times depending the day and time. I use to like this place a lot but they have developed a sewer smell outside of there establishment which i hope they get fixed soon. I first went to this place a few years back and I had an amazing time. I went for Cinco de Mayo 2018 and my experience was NOT what I remembered it to be, sadly. The food, a Shrimp Cocktail, is one of my staple entree that I get at Mexican Restaurants and this was a huge disappointment. The sauce wasn't right, it had very few vegetables and I mean very few. Drinks, were also a major disappointment. I personally half a Cadillac Margarita and a strawberry Margarita, both were super weak. Lastly, we went for dinner and the entertainment.
