I happened to be in the neighborhood today. I typically haven't had any issues with my order in the past but TODAY I will never go back. I ordered a chicken tostada and after halfway eating the bowl a long brown hair was pulled from my mouth. I am sick to my stomach and disgusted. I was looking for something kind of healthy and that limits your options at drive thru's but I am very impressed. I got the 3 piece chicken, mashed potatos and Mac n Cheese and it was great! Close to 8pm, which normally means food has been sitting out for a while but the young man at the window was very polite and professional, and the food was very hot and fresh. Call Pollo Loco was a favorite of mine back in Southern California, they have the best rotisserie grill chicken around. But over the years their quality has dropped substantially. However, they have a delicious chicken tostada salad, the chicken is juicy and flavorful, and it is a nice size meal for eight dollars. I'm not impressed with her chicken still, it's a little dry if you just get chicken, but the tostada is the bomb! read more

We were served at the drive thru by Zayion H and he was the rudest person ever. Our order was completely wrong after driving all the way back home and we live an hour from there. He did not want to give us napkins, he acted like he was not enjoying his job at all and that customers were a nuisance. Our drink cups were soaking wet and lids not secure. We got no salsa and he sighed and rolled his eyes. I get restaurant drive thru is not fun but it's not the customers fault and we expect our food to be what we ordered! Not even a thank you! Update 6/11/23 Well I've tried this place several times since my original post and it's always hit or miss. Today, however, I think will be the last time they get my money. I had to go inside to place our order because they don't accept ordering from app (even for pickup) with their coupons for family meals. So I went inside to save $5 or so. I told the kid at the counter I needed help with their app to make sure I got my points this time because they didn't ever show up after scanning last time I was there a few months ago. I said this before I placed my order but he just started asking me what I was ordering. Since my hubby was waiting in car, I went ahead and ordered and paid and I asked him again wasn't there something I was supposed to scan to get the points. He said well you have to do that before you order. So I politely asked if there was someone else he could ask to help me to scan my receipt in. Now mind you they were still making my order, and honestly, in retrospect I should've just asked for them to cancel my order and refund my card. The assistant manager came over and told me no they couldn't scan after the fact. The manager must've wondered why the assistant was talking to someone at the counter and swooped in and took over and told me he was sorry but they changed policy about this a couple months ago and I would've received an email telling me about it and that they couldn't do anything about it. I said well then give me some sort of a discount then. His response was that he could give me a discount towards my next purchase. I said dude - there isn't going to BE any next purchase. He said it again as he was putting salsa in my bag and handing to me. I said maybe you didn't hear me-I am not coming here again thanks to you. read more

This was the first time that I had visited this restaurant and I did not enjoy my experience here. I had ordered online and when I had arrived the food was not ready. Then my order got mixed up with someone else's to the point where I had to take everything out of my car, go back inside the store and pick up the right order. Grew up in So. Cal and ate here for years as it was great. Tried this location twice now. 0-2. Drive thru is slow and unorganized. But no big deal. The problem is the "pollo." Dry, and dry as if it was reheated from a day or two ago. Not fresh, not cheap, again a disappointing experience. Never again. Feel ripped off. My sis in law from Cali was super excited to hear that El Pollo Loco was opening up in DFW. I got excited because she was excited but the Allen location did not live up to my excitement. As soon as you walk in, you see two huge grill filled with chicken but then you also smell smoke. They need a better ventilation system, unless something really was burning in the kitchen. My husband got the grilled chicken bowl but he got beans more than anything. He wouldn't order again. I got the special plate with 3 piece chicken and side of corn and broccoli. Sadly, the chicken was on the drier side. They have a kid's menu which I got my son their cheese quesadilla and it came with 1 side and a drink. The sides were good. The salsas at the salsa bars were good. There was a guy on the floor checking on us, that was nice. I would give this place one more try. Their tostada bowl looks good. read more
