We've always considered Regio one of our go to spots for great grilled chicken, and we regularly visit the Plano location near 14th Street without any issues. Since we were closer to the McKinney location near Highway 75, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience was completely different. The chicken breast was so dry that I genuinely struggled to eat it. As a grown man, it's been a long time since I've come close to choking on food, but I actually had to spit the chicken back into the box because it was that dry. To the manager's credit, she handled the situation professionally and graciously offered to replace the meal with a fresh box of chicken. Unfortunately, the replacement was no better. The chicken was hot and clearly fresh, but it was just as dry as the first order. I appreciate the manager's effort to make things right, but the food quality was disappointing enough that I won't be returning to this location. If you're used to the quality at the Plano restaurant, don't assume you'll get the same experience here. read more

There was a cooked beetle in my food, the beetle was literally stuck to my Asada and the legs were burnt off. I contacted support and all they could do was give me points on my account (which they never gave) to eat the same food that I found a bug in. I ordered $115.00 worth of food and threw all of the food away because I was so disgusted. I filed a dispute with my bank with all of the information including pictures and the dispute was declined because of Pollo Regio. I will never eat here again. Poor customer service! I have eaten here for many years. They have gone up and down on food quality and price. They have changed management over the years. Some for better. But the last one is for the worst. We always drive by this place and finally picked it up for dinner to go last week. We got half a chicken which comes with tortillas and your choice of two sides - which we picked plantains and rice. Food is always on point! Good price. The lobby is usually pretty clean. Because this place is so popular sometimes it can be a little cramped and disheveled, but still worth the trip. I'm not a Spanish speaker so there is some communication breakdowns, but they typically respond with a friendly smile and are willing to do everything they can to help. 5 stars hands down. This place has some of the most delicious chicken I've had since moving to Texas. The food is very authentic, not the usual "American Tex-Mex" at all! The food gives home cooked meal vibes. Absolutely tasty!! Moving from Miami this is the closest we've gotten to great marinated grilled chicken. I do like the chicken and the story of how the owner started in a food truck and now has multiple locations (heart-warming). The staff are nice (though best if you speak a little spanish at least, as not all speak English) and the food is very affordable. That said, I eat Mexican most days and something about this food doesn't agree with me. Not sure if I just overdo it because it is tasty (?!!) or if the smoked bothers me... Had oil over here tonight for dinner. It was extremely delicious. A chicken was juicy and hot. Our entire meal was piping, hot and fresh. The chips were fresh and crispy and the tomatillo salsa was to die for thank you to Brian and Erica for suggesting the half chicken. We ate so much. It was extremely delicious. Very good chicken tostada. The half chicken meal was very tasty, the charro beans were excellent. The fresh chips were fresh and crispy. The salsa bar was fresh and very clean! I drive through this location fairly regularly. The chicken is delicious, but the carne asada is definitely where it's at! I was super sad thinking I couldn't eat this on my low carb diet, but they actually sell the meat by the pound to go!!! AMAZING! I usually buy a pound of steak and add it to veggies or salad at home to save time and it never disappoints. When I want a treat, the horchata here is the best I've ever had! They only lose a star because they removed nacho fries from the menu - and won't make them (even though they still have fries and nachos exactly like the fries on the menu??) All their food is very well prepared and really delicious. However, this restaurant's customer service and food service management is non-existent and VERY incompetent. The other day I walk in and ordered just 1 Regio Platter and ended up waiting 27 MINUTES for my meal. After the first 20 minutes, They asked me what I ordered and I told them the Regio Platter. They left the counter, 2 minutes later came back and asked me AGAIN. Then they asked for my ticket/receipt. 5 minutes later, I got my meal - no apology, no 'thank you', NOTHING. It's ironic how I decided to walk inside to prevent wasting gas idling in the drive-thru, only to learn that I may have gotten my food faster if I DID go through the drive-thru.
