I always do drive-thru, and they are usually pretty quick & efficent getting you out the window, but sometimes they screw up the order. The other night I ordered 3 piece meal - thigh & two legs, upgrade $1 for a breast. Ended up getting thigh and only one leg - a double screw-up: no breast, and only one leg. El Pollo is fast, healthy, and inexpensive. That's all nice but it's pretty common for various fast food establishments to have poor service. The el pollo loco here at ocean ranch is a clean and hospitable environment. The man who I assume is the manager is gracious and hospitable, and as a business administration student, I find it amusing observing him interact with his staff as a learning experience. The employees are happy and friendly, the service is quick, the food is good. This is a well managed business and a hassle free dining experience, so thank you for that, will keep giving you my money instead of other less well managed establishments that are slow and operated by grumpy employees. read more

This place is lame. I went to drive-thru for a gucamole jalapeño chicken burger and waited patiently for 10 minutes. When I get to the window the attedant says, "Oh, we're out of everything you ordered because we're closing early today." You've got to be frickin' kidding me! El Pollo Loco has the greatest dollar menu around. I routinely eat there for under $5.00 and get four different items. Today was the side salad, quesadilla, taco, and (for a change of pace), the buffalo wings. The dollar items were killer as usual and the wings were a surprise. They were good (fried not grilled unfortunately), but the sauce was not a traditional wing sauce, but more of a mexican garlic blend. Still, I would recommend them to all who asked. It did however, take me ten minutes to explain that I only wanted drummettes and not the actual wings, that was kind of a bummer. The only challenge was the amount of food. Avoid the drive through, especially at night. They consistently get the order wrong. The last time they didn't give me all the sides that went with the combo, and no salsa even though I specifically ordered it. I should have known, I was hearing all sorts of laughter over the intercom. Guess the boss was gone and the help was having too good a time to bother getting the order right. Wasn't happy with them last time i went there but decided to try it again thinking they had improved and the commercials made me think it looked good .Well i ordered a three piece chicken combo and after a long wait got my order and went home . I then realized the menu should have said "Chicken Jerky ". The chicken was burned and all dried out i couldn't eat it . First off, let me start off by saying I love the food here. Good prices for delicious food. The reason why I am giving two stars is because every single time I buy something there, the order is always wrong in some way- especially when going through the drive thru. It is a pain to have to realize something isn't right, having to park, and go back in. I go here quite often because it's close, but every time they mess up at least something after I repeat the it at least three times. It's quite frustrating and it always makes me not want to go back.
