Let me start out by saying I am a huge fan of the food at El Pollo Loco. It seems that the quality is always pretty consistant among the local El Pollo Locos. However, I have never had worse than at this location. The chicken (leg and thigh) had super soggy skin and seemed really fatty compared to what I am used to getting. The mac and cheese is always so good and creamy but here it was a littly chunky and oily. The beans burned my mouth at whatever insane temperature they are servin them at. The beans also had a burnt flavor to them. No bueno. I am totally bummed since this is the closest location to my new office in El Segundo but sadly, I dont think I will be returning. read more

This particular El Pollo Loco goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service. I work in the area and often come for lunch when it is extremely busy. Their food is always fresh and they always have exceptional customer service. When the cashier asks how your day is going, they actually want to hear the answer. They come around to check on you and often will take your tray away when you are done. This a fast food place so none of these are expected. I was hungry for some el pollo loco and I went into this establishment and I ordered a skinless chicken breast combo. I went and sat down. my food was ready i went to pick it up. I come back to my seat and i realized I had downloaded the El Pollo Loco app on my iphone and I could redeem my " free chicken taco carbon" I go to the same cashier that I had placed my original purchase, I show her my app, and I press for the code to get my "free chicken taco carbon" She says sorry sir, its buy 1 get 1 free. I tell her no is not. I have downloaded the el pollo loco app and it is for a free taco el carbon. She shakes her head and says you need to buy 1 get one free. Then she turns to one of her coworkers and says something in front of me and they both stare at me. I again tell her can I please get my free taco. So I press a button on my phone to see if I can get back to the offer to show her it is for free, since i had pressed redeem already my code disappears. She looks at me and says yes the code is gone and doesn't do anything at all. I tell her this is not the way you treat a customer, you do know I can go on yelp and place a review based on my experience. The cashier who is "Joanna" says in the same words, " I do not care" The manager sees the commotion comes and I am telling her it is a free chicken carbon and not buy 1 get one 1 free. She doesn't seem to have a clue about the promotion el pollo loco is giving when you download the app either. She doesn't apologize for the lack of understanding from her own staff and does not even give me my taco. It is not really a big deal, for me its just about principle. I went back to my seat and ate my lunch, I was hoping maybe the manager would come up to me and apologize, or even maybe get my side of the story or something. Guess what nothing at all. I have been coming to El Pollo Loco for as long as I can remember and never in my entire life have I been treated this way. I will never in my entire life return to this location. I was so angry at what had happened, I called up one of my friends and told him about this. He said If I were you I would contact their corporate office. I called their corporate office filed the complaint and I am waiting to hear back from them. The food at El Pollo Loco is good, I have no complaints about that, but at the end of the day it is Food Service. The service I received yesterday from a staff member/ cashier that is working for el pollo loco who is representing the company/brand and who stated to my face I do not care is totally unacceptable. read more

I have a weakness for El Pollo Loco! I recently moved from Torrance to El Segundo. This is the nearest location to my home. I have been here twice and both times I have been greeted upon walking in- which as another reviewer pointed out, is rare. The location is very nice looking on the outside and in. Both times visiting, I had the pleasure of a super sweet employee named Erika R. taking my order. She is the reason I am writing this review. She is upbeat, friendly, and very genuine. The chicken is always hot and juicy inside, with the skin browned just right on the outside. The staff brings your food to your table. All of the staff always seem cheerful and helpful. This location is always clean and well-organized, all the time. How this particular location is managed should serve as a model for ALL El Pollo Loco shops... and ALL small restaurants in general! read more

I went here to pee.. horrible choice.. but I had to pee.. I swung open the door to find a drug addict who was taking a shit in scrubs... didn't lock the door.. horrified.. after that I went into the other bathroom which was equally horrifying... although the thought of single stall bathroom idea was lovely.. Well so i guess the food is ok, at least typical for the average El Pollo Loco. However the management and culture at this particular store is mediocre at the best of times. We live in the area and frequent this particular location however of late we've stayed away. We certainly don't use the drive-in window because 1 out of every 2 times, we get home to find what we received is not what we ordered. Very often when taking out, the pre-packaged side dishes are 20% under filled. The most annoying thing about this location is in the evenings, the workers all seem like they care most about when they can go home. With commuting from the office, it's sometimes difficult to get there before 8PM or 8:30PM. They close at 10PM. Three out of the last 4 times I've been there 90 minutes before closing to pick up dinner for the family, they were out of some part of the chicken--most often the breasts. Really, a chicken restaurant that runs out of chicken 90 minutes before they're scheduled to close with no plans to make more. In fact last night all everyone cared about was "when do we get to go home tonight". All of this adds up to a poorly managed restaurant that tolerates a culture of "who cares about the customer". I know for a fact this is not pervasive throughout the chain but very prevalent at this particular location. Furthermore I want to stress I do not believe in writing negative Yelp reviews based on one poor experience. As you can see I don't write many reviews unless the problems seem to be systemic. Perhaps the solution is simply for someone like Jose the manager to simply care! Personally I'm writing this on the hope that someone in senior management or ownership reads it so that the problems can be addressed. Perhaps all it would take is a little training. We very much like El Pollo Loco and are saddened the location nearest our home is so poorly run. read more

I have visited many-many El Pollo Locos restaurants for fast food and this is my favorite one. I get a healthy meal, friendly staff, ...FUN staff and the place is always packed but we can get a table. This must be a showcase restaurant because of the upgrades they have given the place. My wife and I go here for lunch almost every week. Visit here and you will not be disappointed. read more
