Food, however, was fast and fresh. Everything was tasty and flavorful... Not something you can always say about fast food authentically. Chips were seemed like they may have sat there a bit, but the sauces/salsa and guac was fresh. We both got chicken bowls. Very yummy My child had a cheese quesadilla... We always love when they use authentic cheese for quesadillas instead of yellow Americanized cheese. Tortillas were fresh and delicious. Popped in Sunday at 1 PM. I got the tortilla soup, hubs got double chicken nachos and we split a drink. Cashier was friendly but it appears the menu has changed. Not a taco yo be found. Also soup was lacking seasoning and I couldn't find any salt packets only pepper and equal. I think the chicken may have been undercooked as I was immediately sick after the meal. You always have to check on this location. They will often forget to give you items in your order that you've paid for. They'll take orders for delivery and won't fulfill them. Nor do they have a number that you can call to get things fixed. I can't even speak to someone to get my refund read more

Wow! This was one of my favorite restaurants growing up in Southern California as a kid. Now 25 years later they open one a couple miles from my home. So I took the family there to see if anything has changed. It was very busy and packed when we got there around 7 on a Wednesday night. Talked to a couple people in line also from California and reliving their past. If smells were any indicators I knew it was going to be good. Grilling all those chickens out in open view behind the counter was amazing. We ordered three combinations for $28 and comes with sides / drinks. Can't beat that price. I had the three piece chicken with garbacho beans and rice. All combos come with two of their handmade tortillas. OMG!!!!! they nailed it. They chicken was every bit as good as I remembered it years ago! Then I finished off with a churro and that melted in my mouth! I visited your el Pollo Loco restaurant at 8817 N. Fwy tonight and I wanted to pass along to you my experience. Tonight was my first time trying el Pollo Loco and I couldn't have been more disappointed. I pulled into the drive through at 7:00 PM and was the only car in line. The individual who took our order was very poorly prepared to take our order. We ordered a 3 piece chicken meal, a 2 leg kids meal, and a classic salad bowl. When we got to the window, the employee took our payment, handed us our drinks, and sent us to the front of the building to wait. (No receipt was given). Meanwhile there were no customers in the dining room and one or two cars came through the drive through after us while we waited. After 15 minutes of waiting I walked inside. When I asked how my order was coming, the employees looked perplexed. I had no receipt to show them so I had to repeat my order to them. Nothing had been prepared yet. In fact I assumed while waiting so long that they were making the food fresh. I was completely wrong. There was tons of chicken on both sides of the grill and 5 employees were in the kitchen and some how my order wasn't in the process of being made. I was polite but frustrated so I waited while two of the five fumbled around trying to get my order together with absolutely no sense of urgency. They handed me my order apologetically and I walked out. 5 minutes later I arrived at home and assumed that the food had to be amazing since the service was poor. Again I was way wrong. The chicken was completely dried out and the sides were cold (Beans, Corn, and Mac and cheese). My family are foodies and we love to try new places and I have to admit that I have not had as poor of a first impression experience as I have had tonight. read more

I just wanted something light, so chose the Chicken Black Bean Bowl with a small side of Chips and Queso. The bowl came with black beans and rice and a side of fresh broccoli. (The broccoli was good with a little of the queso over it.) All had a nice a fresh taste and the chicken had a nice grilled flavor as well. I got the taquitos and they were dry and covered in cilantro which I don't like. Hubs got the 4pc chicken and it was also dry with no flavor, the rancherro beans were ok but still not up to our usual standards. We won't be back but it's worth a try. Very disappointed in the Presidio Town Crossing location. We were the ONLY customers, which made me nervous to begin with. Walked in, two of the employees were on their phones, and stayed on their phones while we ordered with a different employee. I ordered the Tostada and my husband ordered a 2-piece chicken meal. Meals came out and they forgot my salad dressing, forgot my husband's tortillas, and the chicken was so over cooked that it was shriveled up on the bones. Dining area needed to be swept, tables needed to be cleaned, and they were out of Dr Pepper. Again, we were the only customers in there. If those employees had time to be on their phones, then they had time to make our orders correct, see that the chicken was overcooked, and clean things up and restock. I'm concerned how clean the food area is kept and the overall hygiene of the place. Phones carry tons of bacteria, and these employees are constantly touching their phones AND the food. Checked it like 5 times. They ran out of plastic cups at the salsa bar. I don't remember this from California but we only got two tortillas with our meal and they were thin and small. We had a missing item, and when I called the asst. mgr, he refused to refund the cost of the missing item with the excuse that "We can't refund via the app." Thus, when they mess up your order, you are out of luck - they've got your money but you don't have your item - some might call that stealing. He only offered to give me the item "on your next visit." Why would I ever go back to a location that screwed up my order? Why should the Customer drive to the restaurant to get what should've been DELIVERED? They need to implement a COMMON SENSE policy that every delivery order must be PERSONALLY EXAMINED by the manager-on-duty to ensure that what's in the bag matches the receipt. And if there's a mess-up, the manager-on-duty will PERSONALLY DELIVER the missing item. If personal inspection of every delivery order is performed every time, the manager won't ever need to personally deliver any missing items. So.....:.. don't expect a lot of variety like the Chipotle restaurant when you order that bowl (no corn, lettuce, fajita veggies, etc etc etc). I wouldn't order it again.
