Of all the El Pollo Loco's I've been to, this location has been the best. The chicken is grilled just right, it's moist, juicy and has good flavor. It's consistent. My only complaint is the legs and thighs are a little small. The sides items corn and mash potatoes are good, flour tortilla's are warm and soft. Been coming to this location for years as it is the closed to our home. Today when I came I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. RUDE RUDE AND SHE HAD NO NAME TAG. The friendly owner contacted me and apologized for the experience; he even offered me a free meal. I thanked him but did not accept the offer. I just didn't want to make it about free food. I used to like going there for lunch since the food is pretty good, the prices are ok, and the fresh salsa is always good. But, I got sick of going through so many disposable plastic cups so I starting bringing my own little washable container for salsa. That was fine for weeks but then one day an employee told me I couldn't do it anymore. Oh well, I'll scratch it off my list of lunch options. A couple of years ago, I came in one evening and the line/wait was so long that I ended up walking out. Well, this evening I came here waited no too long, and once I got up to the cashier I ordered a 2-piece white combo, she then replied, "Sorry, it's gonna be a 15 minute wait...is that okay?" EPL, when it's fresh, is bar none one of the best chicken experiences you could have. This review does not reflect the food, or service in general, which has been good -- and I've been coming here for years since I live walking distance from this location. But I won't be coming back here again because of a rude manager. I came in because I had a coupon which would give me free double loaded nachos with a $10.99 purchase. I walked up to the nice lady at the register, presented my coupon and asked if I could buy a gift card for $10 plus something else to qualify for the free nachos, or just a $15 gift card. The coupon itself did not say I could not do that, it says "with $10.99 purchase" and nothing about exclusions with gift cards in the fine print. Typically if you get a gift card from somewhere, isn't that a purchase? What else would you call it? Anyway, she said she wasn't sure and that she would try. So she went to the back to get a gift card, came back and after trying said she couldn't, and that it had to be a food purchase. Ok. Understandable. I already had picked out some food to get instead if I couldn't do that. So I told her that's fine, I will just order food INSTEAD. I did say instead. So I ordered a total of about $13 but the total on the register was $23. I said that seems wrong. She went through my order for the two items plus a $10 gift card... I told her I only wanted the gift card if it would get me the free double loaded nachos. But she said the card had been opened and activated already. How does a gift card become activated if it hasn't been paid for? That's news to me. I've worked retail and understand how gift cards work. They are blank until they're paid for, and not a second before. What happens if someone asks for a $500 gift card but their credit card declines? You just cancel and void the transaction, right? Apparently not at El Pollo Loco. I just asked to speak with the manager so they could cancel the gift card and ring me up for the $13 purchase. A man showed up a minute later, looking pretty annoyed from the start. I guess I interrupted him somehow. He explained that the purchase had to be food to get the free nachos--something the cashier had already established. I said I know that -- I only wanted the gift card to get the nachos, and since that wasn't possible, I ordered the $13 in food instead and wanted to cancel the $10 gift card. He said that the gift card was already activated (really? who paid for it?).... and apparently expected me to just pay for it. I said I only wanted it if I could get the nachos, like the coupon says. Looking very annoyed, he said something about how I was "playing games" with him ... Lol. Huh? I just walked out. Maybe I'm overreacting but it left a horrible taste in my mouth, to the point where I will not come back to this location again. I don't blame the original cashier except maybe she could have asked before ringing it up, but it's just odd to me that you can't cancel a gift card BEFORE it's paid for. I did present her the coupon right away so I believe she understood I wanted to get the free nachos. If the manager was nice about it and simply said it was difficult to undo a gift card (even though it wasn't paid for) I might have paid the extra $10 for it since I came here often anyway. Btw, I understand you can't undo or return a gift card AFTER you pay for it but that's not what happened. Activation depends on whether it's paid for. The cashier I dealt with was not rude, but the manager was, so I won't be back to this location. I'm sure if you come in here and just want to buy some chicken you'll be fine but if you have any issues with anything, especially involving a gift card, don't expect the manager to be nice about it. I would given this review 1 star but the original cashier lady was nice, and overall the service here has been good for years...well, until today. read more

The food is still great here, but it kinda happened again. I ordered ahead of time on the mobile app. So upon entering the restaurant I immediately headed to the pick up side of the counter. I made eye contact with the cashier so I think he acknowledged my presence, but I didn't see any food ready so I stood back to allow people ordering to pick up their food. About 5 minutes later, a pretty young woman came in and the cashier immediately asked her if she was here to pick up. She replied yes, and they asked for her name. I didn't think anything of it until I saw them looking at tickets on the counter and then assemble her order. So then I stepped up and told them I ordered off the app and told them my name and they also got my food ready. I don't know if they were holding the chicken to make sure it was fresh when I was ready to pick up, or if it was just ready at that exact time, but I still wonder if it was my skin color, gender, or age vs the other customer that allowed her to get immediate attention from the cashier. read more

I really think El Pollo Loco is trying to improve their menu and coming up with fantastic coupons. I went to this place on Monday around 530p. I used a coupon and gift card. I got the Double Chicken Enchilada Platter which comes with two double chicken enchiladas, beans and rice. I'm not sure why, but a while ago they stopped serving enchiladas. I'm glad they're back. I've been to this location before. It's usually pretty busy. However, this time the crowd came after I ordered. It was pretty quick service. I believe it was less than 5 minutes. Although my meal seemed a little salty and the rice was a little more drier than usual, the food is usually pretty good. The workers are nice and there's plenty of parking. Omg! Don't even know where to start , this pollo loco restaurant is absolutely amazing ! We were greeted fast and in a very friendly way . The restaurant is clean , very organized, is always fully stocked . I came to just get some food to go but decided to stay due to how quite and peaceful it seemed so I decided to eat and enjoy my freshly cooked food . In less then 4 minutes our food was delivered to us and was good no complaints what so ever the portions were good the food tasted great. I got up after eating my food and I went to ask for a box to go for my left overs in which the cashier stepped inside the kitchen to do something the manager Jose Quickly came and asked me if he could help me with anything and also helped me with a box and bag . There are several other EPL's near me that I can go to but I always come to this restraunt. They are always very helpful, and always get my order right. The employees are patient. The cashier Carmen is especially nice and helpful. Whenever I have a special request, they make sure to accommodate me. I would just tell them to keep the salsa filled. read more

This is the regular location I've come to for a while and it's disappointing that I pay for something that's correctly on the receipt, and 9 out of 10 times I don't receive the correct items I paid for in my bag to go. **For example, I ordered a sweet corn cake side and I open the bag and I'm salivating while thinking about the sweet corn cake and you get a disappointing surprise- a piece of corn on the cob!
