Service was less than par. I ordered a salad for dine in and a family meal to go. They charged me the wrong price for the family meal and the cashier said , "oh I will tell my manager". I didn't see a manager and when I went back to counter another cashier named sugar said "oh we changed our prices". I told her that they can change their prices all they want but what their board advertised was less than their register they are false advertising and I needed a refund for the difference. She gave me a dirty look and said , I will go ask my manager. When she came back, she hands me the cash without a sorry or a word , and asks who is next? Always visit the Temecula Pkwy location and for the most part the food and service is always very good. Today was on Winchester and for the first time stopped at that location. The person taking the drive thru order was rather abrupt and not very friendly. I guess paying people $17+ an hour to work at a fast food restaurant is not enough to get good employees? I ordered the Grande Avocado Bowl (which I always get) and got home to discover Dark meat which I do not eat. Also the Guac was terrible, looked old and tasted sour. The salsas were also tasteless. I called for a refund since I was not driving all the way back there. The Mgr on the phone was also subpar in her customer service. She informed me that only the Franchises use the White meat and that they are corporate and switched to the Dark meat in these bowls. Told her "how am I supposed to know that some are corporate and substitute different chicken?" If that is the case they should let people know that fact when an order is placed. She agreed to a refund but said I have to drive there and bring the food back to receive it and that they could not do it over the phone! I said no way was I driving back there today that I would stop by next time I'm in the area and of course would not be bringing the food back. I have the receipt so it should not have been an issue to pull up my receipt in their system and apply the refund. So not only am I inconvenienced with poor food most of which I threw away but with having to drive back there. :( read more

My family stopped by not too long ago for a chicken burrito and an order of chicken nachos. The burrito was the size of a taco from taco bell, small and highly unexpected for a burrito that is. My grandmother had the chicken nachos and had very little of everything; chicken, guacamole, sour cream and beans. Her food looked like someone ate off the plate and put the top on. I always have issues when I come here. Staff is always rude, and this time, NOTHING in my order was right. I ordered 2 chicken tacos, and a pollo bowl. Not only did the girl give me an attitude the whole time I paid, she didn't give me a receipt, tried to give me the wrong drink, and handed me the bag with 2 SHRIMP tacos which I didn't see until I got home. I had to go in to get my pollo bowl and they almost forgot my tortillas. I can be sympathetic because retail sucks and times are tough right now, but this has been the absolute worst experience I've had at this location. Do not go through the drive-thru expecting to get your order correct. We frequently visit this location and literally every time we go through the drive-thru, our order is wrong. This place is always pretty solid when it comes to Pollo. I preferred the chipotle burrito along with a chicken al carbon taco. The restaurant is always clean and there's salsa bar. This is the worse El Pollo Loco! I love El Pollo Loco but this location is horrible. The employees are rude and the manager is even worse. I guess the manager is teaching her employees how to be rude and I must say she's doing an excellent job of it. The food is mediocre. I've been getting the double chicken bowls for years at other locations and when I got one here, I was appalled by the amount of chicken in it. When I brought it to the staffs attention, they said that was normal. I asked to speak with the manager and, she wasn't at all concerned and nonchalantly said that was normal. This is only the second time I've been to this location. The first time was even worse and I haven't been back in a year. I thought things had improved but I was wrong! I come here to eat at 8:30, the doors are locked, even though there are people inside, the girl is looking the floor when the dining room doesn't close til 9. She says they're shore on staff, so she can't let me in. Asks me if I can just rat in my car. After I convince her to let me eat inside, and she tells the ma her why she let me in, he tells me there's no chicken for 35 min!!! WHAT?????? CHICKEN IS WHAT YOU DO, HOW DO YOU RUN OUT???? I was upset not receiving one of my menu items, I got home & had to go back 10 min to receive the burrito I paid for. However, the crew were very kind & apologetic. Their salad dressing is about the only best part about el pollo loco. The chicken was okay but there was hardly any meat on it! My middle finger was longer than the drumstick! I'm not mad because I only paid $5 and some change for this meal (with a coupon) but would be disappointed if I paid $7 and some change without the coupon. Of all the locations I've ever been to. This one is the worst. Every time I go through the drive-through without fail after 8 o'clock they always have you wait 15 to 20 minutes just to get an eight piece chicken meal. This is something they should have available up until 10 minutes before they close which by the way isn't until 10 o'clock at night. It's always been this way and we always forget about the horrible service this location offers. I've contacted management over the years to no avail. Buyer beware they may not have chicken available at a restaurant that has chicken in their name. I'm sure other people have experienced this as they say it like clockwork when it gets in the evening. On one occasion a couple months ago they told me that they rarely don't have chickens this late at night. We ordered at 9:16 pm and they didn't have our order ready till 9:35pm.
