This place is amazing. I got a whole chicken with all the sides. I was able to feed 3 people for under $25. I love the beans and rice, it is a reminder of home. The corn tortillas are hot and can be used to pick up the green hot sauce the comes with the order. read more

I go here about twice a month to get a whole chicken. They are as everyone says delicious! I don't like their beans and the rice is okay. But, I had never tried much of anything else. I tried the baked potato with is stuffed with cheese, butter, sour cream, beef and 1 whole jalapeno! I had never had my baked potato with jalapeno before even though I love spicy food. It was delicious and gave a whole new dimension to the stuffed baked potato! I loved it and will be back for another one :) read more

El Pollo Loco's better looking sister, the one you always secretly wanted but were never man enough to admit it. Seasoned fantastically, juicy, delicious chicken. The beans were very good and the rice standard mexican rice. The corn tortillas were really good as-well. The service was awesome too, I know, it's just drive thru but the guy really made the extra effort. They don't have a mic connected to their menu so he went and rattled off like 3 orders, took payments, and organized everything by coming out of the building and walking up to car doors. That's pretty sweet, and he got my order correct. They also have some sort of spicy green sauce that I didn't care what was in it cause it was delicious. read more

This mexican spot was highly recommended by a co-worker. I had half a chicken with the sides, which is rice, corn tortillas and beans. I didnt like the beans. It says it opens at 7 am I was there at 8am went through both drive through swashbuckled on each other one for 5 minutes no one answered and I went through the window the workers saw me and didn't even asked me to take my order they just walked off as I still waited for another 5 minutes to see if the would come back and ask me for my order but nope they didn't bad customer service read more

Our regular go-to when don't feel like cooking. It's always tasty, consistent, and a good value. Particular favorites are the 1/2 chicken meal, flautas, tacos (the beef with cilantro and onions is my current favorite!). Their beans, whether refried or charro are delish. Good, cheap food. On a windy day, sometimes I can smell it from my house. The green sauce is to die for but be careful, it's hot. Now they have carne asada as well. Sometimes, just to change it up a bit, I take the chicken home, de-bone it and use it in chicken enchiladas. If you haven't had you some El Pollo Rico, you better get in your car and get there as fast as you can. Mexican BBQ Chicken? HELLO!! This place looks like some weird little store on the corner of s. first and stassney but they are cooking up some magic in there. I usually get the "whole chicken combo". This usually lasts us (2 peeps) for 2 days.. and if its just me, will last several days. It comes all in separated pieces along with an entire bbq onion and tortillas, beans, rice and sauces. All that food pretty cheap too. You can also order a half order and that will feed 2 people as well. These folks work really hard and are super friendly. I am never disappointed. read more

This is my favorite charcoal-grilled chicken place in Austin. I was originally lured to the place after smelling the delicious smell of charcoal and chicken. And man, did they deliver (metaphorically)! About the food: I can't speak for anything on the menu other than the half chicken special and its sibling, the two-piece special. You can't go wrong with chicken at a place with "Pollo" in the name. It's always perfectly seasoned and warm. The sides are pretty good too, but chicken is definitely the star here. About the service: They've always been very friendly and fast. I tip them well. About the restaurant: There's not a lot of space to eat, but there is a porch-like area where you can sit. I wouldn't recommend eating here though. The food is so good that I don't care very much about the seating situation. read more

So Halloween night and I order the Carne Asada and sides with some Queso. Get home and find no sides in the bag and the meat looks different. The meat is also the same thickness like Sysco Minute steaks and is not marinated, it is grilled and has some flavor but this is not the Carne Asada this place has been serving for years. I've had them miss some of the sides in the drive through before but this was the first time they missed three of them. Well their green sauce is great and gives even generic SYSCO meat some flavor but tortillas would have helped. /guess the help wanted sign should have been a clue. read more

Food is really good, simple and cheap. The chicken has a lot of flavor and getting the combo with beans, rice, salsa and tortillas is a no brainer. If you're looking for a simple and quick dinner to pick up on your way home, this is the way to go. The only watch-out I would give is that sometimes the chicken can be a little undercooked for my liking, but this is rare (no pun intended) and they have swapped out the chicken. read more

My family and I come here and it's complete silent when it's time to eat. This is one of those places I always say we need to check out but we just never do. Well last night was bowling night and since we were in a bit of a hurry, decided to take a different route home to finally get us some chicken. So, we order a whole chicken (for 2 people) and really have no clue what to expect from the extremely heavy bag the hand us in about 1 minute. Oh, and the total was exactly 13 bucks- not bad to feed two people. Anyways the chicken- really good. Not something I could eat all the time (I have this weird thing about chicken on bones) but it had great grill flavor and a nice seasoning. And just to note, a whole chicken here means two breasts, thighs, legs, etc., all in pieces. Makes it way easier to eat plus you get more of the seasonings. It also came with rice, beans, tortillas- all of which I could have done without, but I will definitely eat that chicken again. Great cheap fast meal. read more

It is what it is and it's very good at it. It's small, they dont take credit card, and it's basically just a drive through. And for that, it's as good as it gets. Cheap and delicious and easy. I had the 1/2 chicken combo which was half a chicken, rice, beans, a lime, a cooked onion, spicy green sauce and tortillas. The chicken was seasoned well and *slightly* on the dry side but I can forgive them. Much like good barbecue, it's not always going to be consistent. The rice was really good and the beans-wow. They were made borracho style with bits of pork, cilantro and veggies floating around. Delicious. As the other yelpers have mentioned, the spicy green sauce is the best. It's hands down the best dipping sauce Ive ever had. Caution: I like spicy stuff and this is spicy. If spicy doesnt do it for ya, be careful with the green sauce. If ya get the 1/2 or whole chicken combo, ya just take it home and make your chicken tacos yourself. Oh yeah, and the 1/2 chicken combo was $7 and the whole one is $13. You'll have enough food for a few meals. Yeah, this place is awesome. Now go! read more

This place was amazing. It's the size of a roach coach and has 4 outdoor picnic tables to sit at. It's also got a drive through. I got the #4 which was a half chicken with tortillas, onion, green, and red sauces/salsas. It was only $6 total. The food was fantastic. Some of the best chicken I've ever had. Definitely tough to beat at this price I highly recommend it. It's on the corner so be careful b/c you may miss it. read more
