Always good. Swing through drive through and get a charbroiled half chicken with beans, rice, salsas, half lime, a charbroiled Onion and warm corn tortillas any day of the week. On a lazy day I will take all of this home and open it up on my coffee table, no dishes necessary, and tear it all up. So tasty, muy sabrosa. With out a drink the 1/2 chicken sac is less than $10 and greatly filling. This particular one is close to home so I eat there often. The food is excellent when they get your order right. I've gone there several times and they messed up my order each time. The last time I went the lady taking my order in the drive thru didn't speak English. Also, it takes forever to get your food. If they didn't have such good food I wouldn't go back. read more

I really hate hyping things up too much, but I have to say that this place is great. The chicken is marinated to perfection. The green salsa is very good(may be too spicy for some and my favorite). I like the rice, not so much the beans. The onion is good and goes nice with the lime. (The trick they do is to wrap the onion in aluminum and place it next to the coals or wood for a certain time). This is great tasting, charcoal grilled chicken. The "salsa verde" is some of the best in town, but yes, it is hot. The beans and the rice that come with the chicken combo are delicious too. I see that other people have had some bad experiences. I have eaten their "#1" combo a dozen times and i have always been satisfied. Just tried it for the first time and loved it! I had lived in California in the 90's and loved Pollo Loco. El Pollo Rico is just as good, if not better than Pollo Loco. Oh my gosh. I had a stay at St. David's South Austin Hospital recently and one of the nurses was raving about El Pollo Rico. So, I thought I would try it. I ordered the whole chicken combo with rice, beans, red salsa, and creamy green salsa. Wow....to say that it was incredible is an understatement. I live in Lakeway and I WILL be driving back to El Pollo Rico again and again and again. The char-broiled chicken was sooooo incredibly flavorful, the mexican rice was excellent, the charro-beans were average, but the red salsa and creamy green salsa were tooooo die for. The creamy green salsa tasted just like Taco Deli's Salsa Dona, but BETTER. Soooooooo good. There was also a roasted/broiled whole onion that was included with the chicken that was reallllllly good as well. If you like flavor and spice then this is THE PLACE to go. My friend told me about this place and after checking out reviews on Yelp we decided to try it. Wow! Got the family chicken meal with chips and queso and extra green sauce. SO good! More than enough for dinner and lunches for two people for two days! Could not get over how much I enjoyed the homemade chips - queso was very good also. I was looking forward to the green sauce everyone raved about but not that crazy about it - had a slightly bitter taste to me BUT I added some sour cream and it was pretty darn good! Love the spices on the chicken! We low carb most of the time so I see this as a go to place for the chicken - it will take lots of will power to not get the fabulous beans and tortillas! read more

El Pollo Rico has the cheapest, most delicious way to eat as a couple. My husband and I get the whole chicken combo and it feeds us both. The chicken is moist, and the beans are very flavorful. I don't think there is anything I would change about this meal. You even get a grilled onion. I would suggest this to any other starving artists out there. read more

We went to Pollo Regio last night. They accidentally charged us for 2 pollos, but the manage gave us cash back (we used a credit card), and a bottle of the green sauce! That's right! You can now buy bottles of it. I only spent 2 months figuring it out on my own. Jalepeno, oil, garlic, salt. The bottle says avocado, but there is none in it. Today is Friday the 18 of October 2014 I purchased 2 beef tortas they girl there who had me the order I've asked for a lime and some green sauce and she said that there were 1$ extra for each item so I've asked her I usually come here and they don't charge for them? She answered well I never seen you and I you want the items I gave you the price for them so I answered back can I speak to the manager and she said well he's not here so too bad and slammeed the drive thru window in my face? Oh my God!!! The chicken is always PERFECTLY cooked. The breast meat is always juicy and the rest of the whole chicken is so good that it's easy to accidentally devour more than your share.
