Looking for the best breakfast burrito in the area brings me here today. El Ranchito is convenient enough to get to, though parking can be a struggle. It's simply named Taco Shop outside, which is simple and to the point, but I would have never known there was more to the name. Inside is clean, organized and the staff is very friendly. The salsa bar is right at the front counter next to the soda fountain and has 5 different salsas to choose from. Only the hottest offering has any heat and it's very manageable, sensitive tongues should be fine up to the medium with no problem. Decent flavors but nothing too exciting unfortunately. I went with the Bacon Breakfast Burrito to try and was looking to try the California Breakfast Burrito, but the inclusion of beans took me back to the baseline to go for a better comparison to others I've tried. The weight felt right, despite the size being slightly smaller than others in town. The beans were tasty, but there was a lot; it was more to the point of feeling like I got a bean and cheese burrito with egg and bacon. The egg is "scrambled" on the griddle so it has more the texture of a fried egg than a fluffy scrambled egg. Bacon was definitely present, but lost in the soup of beans. Overall: 4.5 For the restaurant, it is clean, simple, good seating and the menu is fairly priced with good variety 5.0 for the service, customer interactions were top notch and kitchen produced quickly 3.5 for the burrito. Tasty but not my preference for breakfast. Maybe the Cali Breakfast Burrito is their Star, but with beans and fries I'm a little skeptical. read more

We've frequented this location not because it's the closest or the most convenient but because it was the best. Because I drive a bit further, I always ask to have the meat put on the side of my taco salad so my shell isn't mushy when I got home. Today, the cashier who was super nice asked the "manager"/cook if they would do that and they refused. He even asked a second time and they wouldn't do it. It's not a crazy request. I ordered the chicken flautas. They arrived hot, just fried. Served with sour cream and cheese. The chicken was totally blanked tasted like boiled chicken no flavor at all. I wouldn't recommend this dish. They seem to get planets of business so maybe I ordered the wrong item. Their food is always amazing and the Menudo it's delicious (not smelly at all, if you know you know) today we had tacos, a torta and obviously menudo! The service is decent but Esme is always super nice, helpful and happy to see us (five stars for her alone!!!Melissa was my all time fave but she left) the place is busy so be ready for noise but is super worth it!! And believe me...we've gotten tacos everywhere. If you love menudo or want to try it for the first time--THIS IS WHERE YOU GO. It is DELICIOUS. It comes with shredded tender carne asada, Spanish rice, fries, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, and soft flour tortilla. Other long-time favorites are the carnitas on a soft taco and crispy rolled tacos or taquitos. I love El Ranchito's food. I would tell everyone it's the best taco shop around. The staff are generally friendly and not terrible long wait times. Ive eaten El Ranchito (various locations) for 15 years or so. I've ordered just about everything on the menu. Their carne asada is good, the chicken is good (probably best taco shop pollo asado around), their salsas are good, no complaints about their food. BUT their prices over the last like 2 years have just gotten too high. I know inflation is hitting everyone and everywhere but a once $7 special is now $13 is just getting out of hand. $12+ burritos. $10 potato breakfast burrito. You can easily spend Mexican restaurant money at this taco shop, which just is too much. Again, I'm not oblivious of inflation, cost of everything on the rise, but most of the prices at El Ranchito have almost doubled in the last couple of years where other restaurants have maybe only 10-20% increases. We still eat here. We still like the food. But it's way more infrequent due to their costs. read more

I've tried plenty of items on their menu and I've always enjoyed their food. My husband loves their burritos, while I usually try something new. Best taco shop around just like the SD tacos shops with great food, portions & prices. I love their Special A comes with a drink a beef taco, shredded beef flauta & a bean & cheese burrito. It's less than 15$ for a huge plate of food. Highly recommend their Menudo too it's the best one in town and also comes with tortillas and the fixings.
